I'm pretty much the only one in my little group of mates that actually listen to Green Day. One of my mates said she did near the beginning of our friendship, but i think she was just being nice...all my mates are obsessed with MCR

You know, the commercial stuff that plays on the radio. :/ Pretty much everything from Justin Timberlake to Shakira. Sad!

well since really none of my friends like green day id have a lot of work to do! some of my friends like a few of their songs like American Idiot, good riddance, and wake me up when september ends. but really most every one i know say they suck just because their punk. well they actually say emo but i know they arent so i corrected it for them. most of them dont even really give them a try! im not sure why so many people hate GD though! but im not sure how i would get them to like Green Day. maybe if they listened to old GD music like Dookie and stuff like that i think that would be a good start to getting someone to like GD because...well its not that its better but its better to start of with.

I've given up! My friends don't know what good music is!

thats the problem with mine!

Well, my best friend Chelsea told me a couple of months ago (right around the time when 21stCB was released) that Know Your Enemy had been stuck in her head for two days in a row, and that it pissed her off at first, but she grew to like it. So, I burned her a copy of 21stCB, and she liked it. She said she enjoyed every song on the album except for ¡Viva La Gloria!. That was the one song she said she didn't enjoy that much from 21stCB.

I think I'll give Chelsea a copy of ISH first, and then give her some of the older albums. 1039 SOSH and Kerplunk, for example, are quite a huge sound difference to someone who doesn't listen to GD much at all, and I don't want Chelsea to be turned off by the sound difference.

As far as I know, she's going to the same GD concert I am (7/22/09!) with another friend. They'll be near the back, though, which sucks. It would have been cool to see her in the mosh pit... Anyways, I digress. Chelsea will be introduced to some new GD songs at the concert. The songs will probably be ones likes Brain Stew, Minority, and Hitchin' A Ride, which aren't new at all to regular listeners, but they will be new for her. I hope she likes the songs.

I also gave Chelsea a little warning about what Billie likes to do during Hitchin' A Ride. She didn't seem too freaked out, which is good. I know that if that song is included in the set list for the 21stCB tour, that I will be very happy. :eyebrows: Just kidding. :)

My friends are very different from me. There's really no point in forcing them to listen to Green Day, because I KNOW they won't like it.

im takin my friend sam to see green day and she only knows the song minority. she generally likes heavier more metal type music, altho she quite likes pop punk. not quite sure what albums to lend her. i talk about green day so much that my friend mark who never really bothered with them picked up 21st cb one day and now thinks they are the best band in the world because he thinks the album sounds 'spanish'.

I have converted many people around me to Green Day, I proud of it XD

In my experience, people are reluctant to listen to and enjoy Green Day. You have to warn them that their songs are so diverse, you need to give them at least 7 songs to listen to so they get the idea of Green Day.

True story; when I played 'Warning' to my friend, she said it sounded like McFly. I nearly killed someone.

i would begin with the albums before Nimrod.

1039/sosh

kerplunk

dookie

it depends in what is the style of the friend you want to introduce green day

i mean, if he likes slow songs, it would be a good choice a song like Time of Your Life, Macy day parade or 21 guns

and if he likes heavy metal you should show him take back

i had only be succesful in introducing green day to one friend and one ex-girlfriend, now she loves them, and her sister too, and all of her sister's friends too.

It started off fine, I liked a few of their songs that I heard either on TV/Radio. By the time I told my friends I liked them, they were like 'Yeah, they are cool' But then I got overly obsessed with them and my friends were like 'Man you need to listen to somthing different, you are way too obsessed, they suck anyway, their older stuff was so much better'. And that came from the same friends who said they were cool.

Yeah so basically, my friends think they suck. Im the onyl one out of all of us who like them

My friends are kind of complacent about them. Besides one who despises them and one who loves them as much as me.

it's been pretty disatours. Mostly beacuse of my bro!

My friends actually reintroduced me to Green Day a few years back :)

And now since they change their music taste like they change underwear, they think Green Day is a stupid band

And I'm always like, "HEY SHUT UP YOU INTRODUCED ME TO THEM"

If it was a new friend I was just starting to get to know, I'd probably wait until they start talking about music and our favorite bands and then I'd go on and on about how awesome they are hahaha. Then I'd play her International Superhits(which is the CD that got me into Green Day).

Posted

One of my friends didn't listen to music that often. One day, I burned her a disc full of Green Day songs and she doesn't love them, but I expanded her 'musical horizons'. :)

My bestie listens mostly to international music. I'm slowly getting her into Green Day. The first song I played for her, (and she put it on her iPod that night), was King For A Day. She's now addicted to it.

She finds Tre' to be amuseing.

My friend made me go with her to the American Idiot tour back in 2005 because she LOVED them so much. At the time I didn't care for them and I was just like 'meh'. But then obviously seeing them live changed my whole perspective and I became a huge fan.

But now none of my friends like them, and that friend who introduced me to them... well we aren't that close anymore. I plan on taking one of my other closer friends with me to their show in December and give her a copy of 21CB so she can get into them. Other than that, it would be pointless making anyone else listen to them because I know none of my friends or anyone in my family enjoys their music.

But you never know, maybe they all secretly love Green Day because it's really hard for me to understand why someone could just dismiss such brilliant music.

My friend kept dissing Green Day, saying that all their music sounds the same. So I pulled his arm to let me make him a mix CD, and I made it so hardcore with the randomest songs they've ever recorded. I'm excited to hear his reaction.

Posted

My friend used to like GD, then she got into all the dance/techno shit. i'm not going to try and re-introduce GD to her

Posted

I introduce my cousin to Green dAy becouse he loved rap and now he loves rock, I played him Nimrod, AI and the tipical singles :D
