I'm pretty sure it was all live, during the part green day "came on" they just faded out and you could see ryan face the giant screen, so I'm guessing they played the tape for the audience at the theatre and for everyone in america. That's probably why you hear 2 different sets of cheering at the very end.

They performed WCH at the theatre a few hours before the live show. For all we know, they could've been in the crowd watching themselves rock the house.
