I actually didn't really want my friend to like Green Day a few years ago. But that's because she gets so fucking cocky when she likes a band a lot and she drives me crazy. I don't care anymore, but she's not that bad anymore.

Yes... I have actually... Whenever these people with awful, awful taste in music goes on and says they like Green Day (and clearly having only just started on their Green Day fandom because they're having fun following the scenesters and shite)... they-- fans of Green Day... doesn't sit well with me. Green Day's name and their fans are being tarnished by the likes of certain people.. =P I must sound like a purist, but it does make me upset.

well this is a yes and no for me. all of those teeny bopper kids who say "omg billie joe is so hawt' shit bothers me to no end. i want to know someone who knows a bit about the band and we can converse about it amongst ourselves. but i had this friend who really got me into green day she like knew everything but she turned out to be a huge liar and she even lied to me about the band and everything and she used to say " i would never turn my back on them never" and she did she hates them more than ever and likes pop music. she wasnt a true friend i think she saw that i liked them so she liked them too. i dont know. but i kind of miss those times where we would talk about music so often and then i dont want her to be because she was fake.

^Maybe her taste in music changed and she went off them? She probably enjoyed those times talking about them with you too, but maybe she just didn't enjoy them in the same way as you, and doesn't like them any more. It's no big deal, everyone's musical taste and way of appreciating music is different

I dont think Green Day will be gaining many fans next time round because commercialised hip hop acts such as chris brown, rihanna etc seem to be dominating the charts.

I think Green Day and MCR are the only creidible super rock bands left.

^Commercialised rap was as popular, if not even more popular, in 2004 when American Idiot came out - 50 Cent and such. In fact American Idiot knocked Eminem off the top of the US charts when it came out. And nowadays, in the UK at least, rock music is seen as much 'cooler' than it was in 2004.

So I don't think they'll be much difference.
