likeahandgrenade Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 haha, my dad only likes two of their songs: minority and are we the waiting... it's really funny when my parents try to sing along with green day because they misconstrue the lyrics all the time
Totally obsessed Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 My mum sings holiday sort of with the right words... that's about it. But when I sing GD stuff, she makes me leave out all the swear words
wellingtonsarecool Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 My mum hums to them, even when the songs arent being played.
bob caluya Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 when we hear Green Day in the car i have to turn it off. or if i decide im going to listen to it she calls it the devil.
Holes Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 my mum likes green day. she sings along to all their songs in the car, but doesn't have their cd's or anything, she just thinks they're a really good band (she's not mistaken). She sticks up for them though, like Mum: "Ella (my sister) turn that crap off!" (Pussy cat dolls) Ella: "But Hollie is blasting Green Day"Mum: "When That stupid band makes music at least half as good as Green Day, you can play it." also she said to my aunty "No classic songs are written these days. I never hear them, except (turns to me) that Green Day song, the really long one (JOS) that has to be a classic."
harp baby Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I love my mum, but I have never, ever heard anyone else butcher American Idiot like she did.
Robbie... Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 My mum likes to sing to The Grouch. She says it makes her feel impowered.

I don't think my Mum likes Green Day, but I think she's scared to put them down in front of me, not because she's worried I will attack her with my guitar, but because she doesn't know what a good band sounds like and doesn't want to sound ignorant. Although she may not share my music tastes, she assumes that if I like a band, it's a good band. I think what I am trying to say is that she respects my tastes. On topic, my parents don't know enough Green Day to actually sing along to it, but my sister tried singing Minority once. It was a painful experience It was actually worse that my 6 year old brother singing American Idiot in a New Zealand accent.

It was a painful experience It was actually worse that my 6 year old brother singing American Idiot in a New Zealand accent.Yeah i like to think my mum is pretty cool! well, cooler than some other peoples mums anyways. apart from Green Day she also listens to Damien Leith...and there is no smiley on here that describes what i feel about that. I can actually imagine attacking someone with a guitar, not me though. they are my most expensive precious possessions (sp). I'll just use an old hockeystick My six year old sister sings and plays air guitar to american idiot. It's really funny to watch, but she only sings the first line. She taught her pre-school friends and mum got a call from the school because the teacher was alarmed that all her students were singing, headbanging and playing air guitar to AI. pity i got the blame for it though
blc Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 My dad listens to American Idiotages ago i was watching the IS dvd and put the subtitles on, just to see if it worked and my dad tried to sing along, was quite amusing

JunkiexHeart Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 My mum was into Green Day before I was, so meh.But i'd still shout at her, just for singing shite.
Jesssikahhh! Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 My mom sings along with them in the car. She knows the words so it's cool. It's funny actually. I listen to the music from when she was a teenager and she listens to my music.
Maru Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 my mom likes them but she does not know the lyrics...she only knows the chorus of...when I come around
bat-chen Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 My parents don't sing to there songs, I wish they do cause it well be so funny!
thinkgreen2172 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 haha my dad sings like a few songs.its so embarrassing.but its fun to laugh at him.& my mom makes fun or does it in a weird voice when she hears the song boulevard of broken dreams.
*Jade_Green_Day* Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 My mum tried singing to American Idiot a couple of years ago and it was sooo wrong. I told her it was wrong and she just laughed.
St_Jimmy815 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 My mom loves singing along to all their songs. Hell, she's been a fan for so long, she even had better seats then me at the concert in 05. My dad used to say he didn't really like them, but I caught him humming along to Good Riddance in the car once when I was playing International Superhits:Dad: I like this song, who sings it?Me: Um, Green Day does.Dad: Well, I know they're singing it now, but who sang it originally?Me: ...Green Day...Dad: But this song's been around for a while.Me: Yeah, '97. They started in Berkeley in the 80s dad.Dad: ...oh...I know he didn't want to say it, but I'm pretty sure he thought they'd only been around like 5 years. The man hasn't really listened to the radio since he married my mom in 89.
