Pedestrian9394 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I listened to all classic rock. The Beatles are still my favorite band of all time, then Green Day. But right now I'm still in my Green Day mode. I was actually surprised that I got into them. They're the only contemporary band that I really listen to. So I guess before Green Day, it was The Beatles, The Who, AC/DC, Boston, Journey, etc.
JeanJeanie Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I was really into Franz Ferdinand. I was actually listening to their first album when I saw the "American Idiot" video for the first time. I also loved the Beatles and the doo wop my dad dug. And yes... the local Top 40 station was on constantly as well.
mandajane Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 i was hardcore into eminem for a lil while. other than that, whatever was on the radio lol

Pedestrian9394 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Beatles and Green Day Hell yes. That's the way to do it.
Just Kate Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 haha, lots of Eminem and DJ Tomekk (german DJ) and crap like this. but - i've known Offspring, MCHR and Lostprophets before Green Day, like a year or two years longer... but i never knew it was punk that they're playing lol. Green Day made me aware of that
DookieTheThird Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I started when I was like 8.I found 2 tapes in moms stuff and I was courious because they had weird names..like Linkin Park and Nirvana. Then I heard Green Day on tv (American Idiot i guess)and I liked it.I always had like 3 songs from GD when I was small:Blvd Of Broken Dreams,American Idiot and Wake Me Up When September Ends(this was in the period when AI was released) In a few years(a couple months before 21st CB was released)I started to listen them more and more. But..I'm still listening to Nirvana, but I don't like Linkin Park anymore.
Metanoia Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Hell yes. That's the way to do it. oh yes.best ever.
Blondie0121 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Life before Green Day...was an epic battle between the parental units and wanting sooo badly to listen to Eminem...it was also an epic struggle of liking one or two songs from a lot of very different bands....and trying to forgive N'Sync for failing then Green Day happened ((American Idiot)) and i realized its not only about the music...its about the lyrics and the human beings in the band... Definition of favorite band = when they come on the radio the whole world stops...you scream...you turn it up as loud as possible...and you belt out every lyric like your life depends on it...and when its over you think to yourself "Damn that made me want to jizz in my pants" ))
armatage Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Year before Green Day, I listened to Fall Out Boy.. for two months. (Happily then I came to my senses..) Then I started listening to Linkin Park, half year later - Sum 41 and Exodus, then a lot of Good Charlotte but I dropped GC, too just before getting into Green Day.
Are We The Waiting? Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 i wasn't even in to music. it was green day who got me started.
Vespertine Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Well, I've always listened to Britney Spears and have never been ashamed of that. haha. And I used to listen to bands like Simple Plan and Linkin Park. haha.
21st century idiot Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Didn't really listen to anything before GD, just what ever was on my sisters radio

Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I was about 9 when a friend of mine brought her sister's American Idiot CD to school, and that was when i bought first AI, and then Dookie and then on.. before I wasn't listnenig to anybody I think, I was just listening to radio and what mum an dad listened to (a little old music like bon jovi, bruce springsteen, ccr, bryan adams, nirvana, rolling stones...)

Smoothed Out Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 omg flippin The Feeling, they're alright don't get me wrong, but it's so far from what I like now seriously I must have been desperate to fit in somewhere and Kaiser Chiefs, but they're still cool to me...just not as much
Izzard Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 U2, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Blink 182. I still listen to these people too this day....but not as much as I used to.

Acid Monkey Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I never had s specific type of music that I really enjoyed listening to before Green Day. But I remember really digging the Backstreet Boys, just like any other kid back in the late 90s.
