Joy of suburbia. Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Before Green Day, I didn't listen to music that much but when I did, I listened to a lot of rap... I mean a lot of it. Green Day opened up my world to better music...way better music.
FannyDefoe Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I listened to all Hip Hop and Pop stuff...and I'm quite ashamed of some of the stuff..though I also still like some songs of my earlier music days I used to listen to Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, 50cent and all this crap... now I can't stand it anymore...
in_your_face Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 proud to say that green day was the first ever band i liked! they changed me a lot! their songs mean so much to me.
Christina. Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I was starting to get into popular alternative bands, thinking I was an amazing punk rocker or something silly like that. Then Green Day came along.
Laura! Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 70's stuff. Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, stuff like that.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 First I didn't really listen to anything, I just wanted to know the songs the popular kids in my class listened to, which was Pussycat Dolls and stuff like that, but I never actually listened to that. Just like, 'they know those songs. I want to know them too!' and that's as far as it went. (this was primary school). Then I listened some of my parents' CD's, which was soft stuff and pop at the loudest. Then I started to listen to the radio more, mostly liking poprock songs, and I had two band obsessions, being Avril Lavigne and McFly. And then in the middle of the McFly obsession I discovered Green Day, and everything from before disappeared.
Leisha-LUNA Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I don't like to think about life before Green Day
Sheehan Rysa Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Pop, hip hop, a little of classic rock and random songs.
Rock'n'RollGirlfriend Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Psht...NOT Avril Lavigne... Yeah, no...I was really lame. haha. A very awful time in my life. =p
east cc nowhere Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 it pains me to admit this but I used to be a huge avril lavigne fan i had her skater boy album and used it so much the cd got scratched and couldnt be played anymore *hangs head in shame* haha after that it was good charlotte back when they had liberty spikes but i never owned an album just heard their songs here and there. i loved 'the anthem' and 'lifestyles of the rich and the famous' then no particular band/artist, just what ever was on the radio............then one day holiday graced the airwaves and ive never looked back Needless to say Green Day really opened me to the world of...better music. i couldnt agree more!!!
LadyPeacemaker20 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I used to listen to anything from u2 and bonjovi and black sabbath to nsync and backstreet boys. I was a weird kid. O.O
Miss Hedgie Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Before Busted, McFly....god thats embarrasing. I still love McFly though. The I found Sum 41, then Muse, the Green Day and that was it...
Mar Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Well, I had heard of GD since the 90s, but I never listened to them until American Idiot. I loved me some 90s pop, still do. I'm a Claymate, still, sad but true. I love the Killers and Britpop bands, especially ones from this past decade. I still listen to all that stuff, Green Day didn't exactly change my entire musical tastes, but I do think that listening to them back in 2005, along with the Killers, made me more willing to listen to music that wasn't pop.
ANJI Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I was never into rock music before...and i used to love a band called Busted, but they broke up after 3 years or so...and i had some weird music taste...
veroPasalacqua Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 omg. I was a little Hopper Girl D: .. And I listened to Linkin Park.... and some Pop Bands. After that I liked Billy Talent a lot,I stil love them ^^ and AAAFTER the whole shit I found Green Day O: And I was like : :woot: So..now.. this Band means all to me and I love them
TheBasketcase Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I love anything from Ramones to Motley Crue to Dio to Testament to S.O.A.D to Tenacious D to Buckchery and stuff, I still like it but im just to obsessed with Green day! haha
Ally Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Before green day i was a Busted freak, and before that Westlife, Green day greatly improved my taste in music, though i do still listen to Busted
marta_gs Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 before Green Day, I listened to Linkin Park (still like them) and Avril Lavinge and... Blue and some other bands/artists of "the moment" you know... but none of these bands caught my interest as much as Green Day did
Angela. Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I listened to whatever my parents listened to. Which, for the most part, was country. My Mom played more of the country, and my Dad played a bit of rock, like Guns N' Roses. Before Green Day, I was obsessed with Montgomery Gentry, and Britney Spears.
Micky Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Before Green Day I didn't listen to any particular band, I remember listening to the songs that my friends listened to, like the newest ones etc ... But I remember I listened to a lot of Queen and Michael Jackson (and still do)
Isabel Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 When I was about 8 I was obsessed with Boyzone. But then when I was around 12, I liked Foo Fighters and Blink 182 a good bit before I started listening to Green Day when I was 13.
OliDayyy Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I was a huge Britney Spears fan from 1998 until 2001/2002 (I was so disappointed when I saw the ''I'm a slave for you")... I also loved Backstreet Boys... I still listen to their old stuff some times Then I discovered rock music with Evanescence, "Fallen" is an important album for me. And then.... Green Day since 2005
Nele Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I didn't have my own music taste at that time. I pretty much listened to the stuff my friends liked or the stuff that was in the top 40. After I found out about Green Day I started listening to similar bands and developed the music taste I've got now.
November's Storms Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Ironically enough it was the bands Green Day influenced that got me into them. I was big into pop punk like Blink 182, Sum 41, Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects etc. I also loved Jack Johnson and Ben Folds. Still do actually. Next to Green Day they're my 2nd and 3rd choice musicians.
