mechanicalman Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 As I said, it's probably just because they have children, wives, and responibilities now.It must be harder for them to go on tour for months on end when they want to spend time with their growing children. They're still the same people at heart, they're just growing up.And maybe burning out.Liking the Burnout reference. Most people mature as they get older, so I think they've just realised that they can spread a message.
Havoc Posted December 16, 2006 Author Posted December 16, 2006 It's obvious that those of us who use to listen to Green Day felt disappointed. I knew this would be full of fans of the new Green Day, saying this is crazy, as they never knew the old and original Green Day because that was Green Days brand, being original. They lost that.I for one wouldnt have any problems with them changing their attitude and lyrics if they changed band name - This is not Green Day and old fans will agree with me im sure?
clusterbomb Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 shut up, fucking hell, how can ppl not relate to jesus of suburbia? and extrodinary girl?im an old fan, ive seen then 13 times and ive been listening since dookie, the music and the lyrics are a lot better nowerdays.
The_original_mrs_cool Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 new. but still could of read the rules.

Therefore their creative expression will reflect that.
mechanicalman Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 i still can't belive somebody would call him horrible. I'm so shocked.
randomness Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 people mature, it was over 12 years ago they made Dookie, you can't expect them to stay the same. and they haven't used political issues to make their comeback, they wanted to put the politics side in for themselves. AI isn't nearly as political as everyone makes it out to be either. also stop talking about old fans like you're superior, because you aren't

They've changed, as all people and bands do, and you seem to have trouble adjusting to that. You can't seriously want them to stay the same forever. That would make the whole thing kind of self-defetus, as punk is about being new and innovative, and staying the same is niether new nor innovative.
Guest n o n a m e* Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 What you don't know is that Green day died in 2000 now their just puppets on strings. didn't you just say that before..
Guest 16PaperLanterns Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 they're having sex in your bed. duh.
mechanicalman Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I'm a fan of the old and new Green Day. Basically I like Green Day.Would you want them to release albums that were basically the same? I like to see the transformation between albums. It's the Green Day journey.
Adeline Rebel Armstrong Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 We heard you the first time. Sorry I spelled puppets wrong the first time so I edited it and it posted it twice.
nessa1416 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 they're having sex in your bed. duh.Grow up.Sorry I spelled puppets wrong the first time so I edited it and it posted it twice.Gotcha
Ultimo3000 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 The guy's new...give him a break!He may be new, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't know better.
farley drexel hatcher Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I don't really know how you can say thier old stuff was about 'living life to the full'....they had some pretty dark early lyrics. Billie's style changed because he got older, that's basically it...? and also he said he didn't want to be another bitter old man, so he chose to write from another point of view.
mmmcrazypills Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 In all seriousness I would HATE Green Day if they were still bratty kids.I don't want creepy old men trying to appeal to me & have me buy their shit.If they stayed the way they were that would make them trying to appeal and exploit a demographic.Fuck that.
bumbum Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Uh oh...here we go again --They haven't gone anywhere. They've just "matured".exactly wat i was thinking
Havoc Posted December 16, 2006 Author Posted December 16, 2006 I am not saying old fans are superior in any way nor do i say Green Day have to continue exactly what they began with. They changed over the years in the 90's too. They seem to be more mature yes, but maybe too mature and a riding the wave of being critial to world politics (no politic discussion on where to stand, please).I think the made a mistake in bringing back Green Day as a new band. They should had said "We had a fantastic period with Green Day, but lets keep it there and start a new band with new goals".
mmmcrazypills Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 okay so you want green day to just change their name and really nothing would be different and they would still be closely associated in peoples minds cause they (for the most part) aren't beligerent morons.Go into iTunes and select all of the green day songs.Go to the change info thing and have at it.tomato/tamato
