Looking at there past albums they pretty much wrote about everything possible really they have and they did a opera so what can they write about now? well billie is smart and he will wait it out and see what happens in his life. That is what I am doing now I have no clue what to write about.

This new album is gonna be cool...can't wait!!! Pity they say nothing will be released in the near future - but at least that means that they are taking their time and really thinking about what to create songs about. After AI this next album needs to be great and I'm sure that they know that...AI was such a success and I'm sure the next album will be too!

That is what I am doing now I have no clue what to write about.There's always something in life to write about, I don't think he's ever written about his kids for one thing (maybe in 'Waiting', but no one knows for sure). He can't write about the same things again, but there's always something in life that provides inspiration

moonlight_girl Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Finally some news.I think they don't need to rush their work.Just let them do their job.The only thing that is bothering me is that people (not everyone) will expect something as good as(or even better) American Idiot.Well ,I hope it won't take very long but the album will possibly be out in late 2007.Don't forget that there's going to be a film too.

I love them personally but others may not.first thanks for your answer and then I just wanna say that I like very much tre's and mike's songs but I was just thinking that they may don't write many really good songs if there are not many of songs written by them in GD's albums.

Not just three albums worth of material. But three totally different ones. A straight-punk album, a clash-esque album and another concept album

AI was a real masterpiece, it can't really be compared to anything and it was awesome (it still amazes me). But as for the idea of making another album with a story behind it doesn't seem that great to me. It'd probably be a whole lot different to AI, and with really great new songs, but still I would get the feeling of that they tried to keep up with the succes of AI with a safe card instead of doing something totally new. And don't get me wrong; I don't say that Green Day are the kind of band that chooses the safe cards instead of risking something (we've all seen that before), but I just say my opinion that if they made a similiar album with a story it'd be a bit like just clinging to what they had. I think the AI era should be over, to look back on with a great proud smile, but not to cling on to till it gets boring.

It's so incredible they've got 3 albums worth of songs! And so fast...I guess they had alot to write about The idea of having another album with a story behind it would be pretty interesting, of course, and they did joke about having the next album be 'American Genuis' haha.Ahhh I can't think of anything else to say because now I'm wondering what the new stuff sounds like haha...Like Billie said we'll have to wait to see how things unfold ....Anything they do will be great though I'm sure.
NickD Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 If they were to do another album with a story behind it, I think the only thing they could do, would be one about the ups and downs of them as a band. I think it would be a good one, too, involving the drugs, the girls, the people out against them, and the people for them. That's it. I don't think aside from a story about that, they could pull one off that would actually be good(aside American Idiot, I mean). But the only downside to it, if they went that route (a story on themselves) would be everyone stating it's their last album..
