Maru Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I'm sho excited...they've never let me down and I expect the best of this new album =)
gdp Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 so theyre gonna make 3 albums huh? thats a lot, were gonna have to wait so much urgh! but its worth it
...Whatsername... Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Yay! I'm excited. Green Day world was getting pretty boring without any news.
allenxtreme Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 well, it should be interesting what direction they have turned to with the new album, I have the slightest feeling it will have a touch of U2 there, but all the same it'd be nice to hear some new stuff. Most bands usually have tons and tons of songs that need to be cut down so it's nothing special, Noel Gallagher had 3 albums worth of material before he even started recording with Oasis, so it's not unusual.

Indeed, but don't be surprised, Bono and Billie Joe are pretty tight, American Idiot was a drastic change to Green Day's format, using more effects and stuff, so it'd be interesting to see whether they follow that, or go heavier, im not saying there is anything wrong with that however, i'd love to see what they can do, you never know, maybe the Saints Are Coming was a taster to what they having coming in the future, or just a one off with U2.

Considering he mentioned both experimental stuff and straight punk, that sounds like more of a direction to me - I mean, why would you go with an over-produced and out-dated sound when you can go back to the roots of punk and get the good stuff?
Angy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 when i was starting to read this scan i was very exciting of the 3 alb they're working on but then they said that they will take their time so i have to wait longer......but i cant wait anymore!!!
sydneygirl Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I don't think there will be any U2 influence, at least not directly. I suppose though musicians probably do get influenced a little by other bands, after all they listen to music from other bands, too, same as the rest of us, but Green Day are so much their own band. They're so original and talented and, in my opinion, have stayed true to themselves. They've got their own unique and familiar sound.I hope the album doesn't come out in late 2007! It would kill me to wait that long, because then it would take many more months (like in 2008!) before they tour Australia. I missed the AI tour, which to this day tears me apart, but, having said that, I know that the album will be worth the wait and I want them to put out an album they are happy with and proud of, so I'll just wait patiently for as long as it takes.
Anma Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Awesome, awesome! i'm excited what is comingBJ is incredible guy! Three albums < 3
eastbaypunkmafia Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 It's great that they take their time and make a good album, I was a bit afraid they would spend 6 months making a copy of AI.
danielharris627 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I cant see this going down too well...Especially when its released people wont know whats going on, they will have 3 totally different style albums and people will just be confused, I mean the fan that just buys the album and doesnt read about it online or anything.
netty Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 why would they be confused? they arent going to put all three out or combine the three ideas. they are three seperate ideas for albums that they have. thats the way I read it any way. they must be writing all sorts of different types of songs and they`ve had enough to maybe have three albums. just because they have that many styles to chose from doesnt mean they will release them all. the band normally write this many songs before they decide which kind of album its going to be, they just have more choice of style. if that makes any sense. I know what I mean any way.

Guillaume Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I have some stupid questions:*if they have made 3 albums, how many songs have they written? I don't think Billie Joe can write so much songs in just two years because andres said that they have written 60 songs for american and just keep 13.*If they have written many songs, they have all written, not just Billie Joe but in all their albums there are just Bj's songs. So does Bj only write or they write songs and there are only Bj's songs which are good?
mimi-gdg Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 This is great!!! i hope they won't make a very comercial album... I love green day so much....!!!!
NickD Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 well, it should be interesting what direction they have turned to with the new album, I have the slightest feeling it will have a touch of U2 there, but all the same it'd be nice to hear some new stuff. Billie Joe said in the artical, that they have 3 totally different albums with 3 different styles on all of them, that they are picking from...
mimi-gdg Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 i don't know how to use this site!!!!!!!!!! but green day ROCKS!!!!!!

So does Bj only write or they write songs and there are only Bj's songs which are good?right, most albums have something like 8 or more songs on them, okay? so if they have roughly three albums worth... that works out at 24. for some reason I`ve got 30 to 40 songs as being the number of songs written so far, but I could be way off with that figure. and as for Billie not being capable of writing that many songs, well if you are in that kind of creative groove then yes you can! they could all be total cack though! thats why we only ever get to hear so many of them and not all of them. nobody knows if Mike and Tre have been writing songs as well but they`ve done it before and there is no reason to think that they have stopped and left it all to Billie. it could be a joint effort on some songs. we dont know details like that. as for whether you think that Mikes and Tres songs are any good or not... I love them personally but others may not.

I love them personally but others may not.the article says that mike has remembered some of the songs from cigarettes and valentines, and billie and tre have both written new songs. and they've had enough time to start writing, american idiot took 18 months, and you have to remember that they write MANY more songs than they actually release.
netty Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 the article says that mike has remembered some of the songs from cigarettes and valentines, and billie and tre have both written new songs. and they've had enough time to start writing, american idiot took 18 months, and you have to remember that they write MANY more songs than they actually release.Mike has said previously that some of those songs were "locked" in his head or however he put it. sorry but I never bought into the whole "stolen" thing. they know full well what those songs are and how to play them. I missed the bit about who had written new songs. as for them having had 18 months to write them..... I dont think they have stopped writing songs since they got back into that writing groove for AI. its not about having enough time, its having things to inspire you and allowing yourself TO be inspired. I know that because I used to write loads. it used to make me get out of bed I dont know how many times a night because I HAD to write it down. not that I wanted to! I just had to! and if you re-read what I posted..... I am fully aware that they, as all bands do, write many more songs than they ever release.sorry, I know I`ve posted somewhere before that they always write more songs than are ever released.

nak321 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 This makes me so happy! I'm so excited right now, even though they don't have a set date. Just to know that they have stuff. This has officially made my day.
