RegularDecoratedEmergency Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 holy shit.....they fucking are. now I'm not a fan of mcr (i hate them)but this is just copying off of GD.Rob Cavallo?Rock Opera?get your own fucking ideas, mcr.(btw, Gerard Way is not hot, you fucking teenies)You're lame.
Watoosh Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 OH MY GOODNESS!!! NOT THIS!!!I bet they copied them on them god damn red ties too!!!!
miss green day Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 This is getting old now.*sigh* ok, you want to do this?1. Green Day did not invent the concept album or rock opera2. My Chemical Romance have never called their album a rock opera3. MCRs previous album Three Cheers... was also a concept album, and it was released a couple of months before AI4. Green Day don't own Rob Cavallo, he can work with whoever he wants5. Sam Bayer: see above.my thoughts exactly...
soundbarrier4 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Well, My Chemical Romance and Green Day ARE on the same record label.I don't know what that has to do with it...I think that might explain Rob Cavallo working with them.Who cares if they got Samuel Bayer to do their videos? Didn't Sam direct "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana? I don't see people saying that Green Day copied Nirvana because of that. And Green Day aren't the only band that can do a "rock opera" of sorts, let My Chemical Romance do what they want...geez people.
GDOBSSOR Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 1. Green Day did not invent the concept album or rock opera2. My Chemical Romance have never called their album a rock opera3. Sam Bayer: see above.I agree. I love My Chemical Romance - but not as much as I love Green Day. But whether I love or hate My Chemical Romance, they are NOT copying Green Day - ever heard their songs saying 'don't wanna be an american idiot' or 'i beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies' etc. etc. No. Stop bashing them for their music.
woahinez Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 This is getting old now.*sigh* ok, you want to do this?1. Green Day did not invent the concept album or rock opera2. Green Day don't own Rob Cavallo, he can work with whoever he wants5. Sam Bayer: see above.that' exactly what I think. Get over it people. MCR and Green Day are a two completely different bandsjust because they have the same producer and director doesn't mean MCR are copying them. It's so fucking annoying to hear people bitch about MCR copying Green Day.THEY ARE NOT COPYING GREEN DAY!
Acadia Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 well, why don't we all just go and ask MCR if they're copying Green Day, eh? sure, there are many other bands with Rock Operas. Queen has one. (or that's what i heard on TV, don't harp at me if i'm wrong). and some others. Sam Bayer and Rob Cavallo can do what ever the hell they want. Maybe the thought that they were the best for the job and chose them. don't go jumping to conclusions.OH MY GOODNESS!!! NOT THIS!!!I bet they copied them on them god damn red ties too!!!!
nessa1416 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I was going to make a thread on this.I hate them anyways, and just...ick.Sure, Green Day wasn't the first band to do a rock opera, but the fact that MCR are going the EXACT route that green day did, makes me feel a little suspicious.
Ultimo3000 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I HATE MCR!!! Even if they aren't copying off of Green Day.... I still hate them!
TotalBasketCase13 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Anyone who makes music is copying Green Day. They invented sound, actually. Pioneers, they are.I had no idea Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was a concept album. What was the concept ? Bad music ? I think the concept was getting revenge. Not quite sure. I've always just treated it as just stand alone songs, not one big storyline.
Fiyero754 Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 I was going to make a thread on this.I hate them anyways, and just...ick.Sure, Green Day wasn't the first band to do a rock opera, but the fact that MCR are going the EXACT route that green day did, makes me feel a little suspicious.I concur....
Katie Tomlin Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 coincidence, maybe?I dont know.personally I dont like MCR, but I dont know Id go so far as to say theyre copying GD. but mehh, you never know.
Michelle7107 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I completely agree with the whole MCR copying GD thing.
Sherri Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Or maybe Green Day are from the future and they copied My Chemical Romance Sorry, the future thing is getting old.. but I couldn't resist.
don't_leave_me Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 its just a coincidence(sorry can't spell)
Boston Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 If you want to get down to the point, they really aren't. Green Day was not even close to being the first band to write a rock opera. There was Pink Floyd, David Bowie, and many many many other artists before Green Day even started playing music to begin with. Also, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was an unnoficial rock opera. It had a definate plotline, and all of the songs make sense if you listen closely. This is just another case of people trying to pick on bands.
gdp Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 i dont think theyre trying to copy they just admire them and they think its good so they do it as simple as that
Maru Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 hey hey...Green Day copies NOFX!WTF! it's a genre, they all sound the same, they all influence each other! ppsssh! of course! MCR has all the right to sound like them, they were influenced buy them! and so what if they are working with Rob and Sam?...does Green Day OWNS THEM? _ that'll be funny.
GNRAGE_2010 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Well MCR and GD are on the same record label Reprise and both are associated with Adeline so I'm not as shocked about the rob cavallo thing but the sam bayer is probably becuase they saw Green DAys videos and liked his style.
ulla Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 i don't think that MCR copies GD.they are just different bands.
IAmARevenant Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 People need to fucking shut up about this. They didn't copy Green Day. People only say that they diod because they don't like MCr, and that's just fucking stupid. This thread honestly needs to be closed.holy shit.....they fucking are. now I'm not a fan of mcr (i hate them)but this is just copying off of GD.Rob Cavallo?Rock Opera?get your own fucking ideas, mcr.Holy shit you're fucking dumb.Get some common sense for once, retard.

wowsers_trousers Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Gerard says "I dont think there is a lot in common between Green Day and My Chemical Romance at all- and i think Green Day would say the same thing"and i agree. they are nothing alike.
Vanessa Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 They've admitted to pretty much copying green day on an interview i saw on TV a while ago. They said they wanted to be like them. Or atleast something along those lines.Theis has been discussed plenty of times before though. And no i don't hate MCR. But i don't like them either.
