mmmcrazypills Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 This is almost as good as the bitch fight between the bravey and the killers.
riotgirl19991 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I think that he just wanted to complain because he wanted to take ppls attention away from his bands ever so shitty music. he is just jealous that green day could kick his scrawny wannabe rocker ass any fucking day of the week.
spark in the night Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 yeah Flowers needs to do some more researchor maybe ask a couple dedicated GD fans before opening his yapper
armatageshanks Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 i thought brandon flowers basically saying fall out boy's music is "destroying american youth" was pretty hilarious.i gotta stick up for green day here though, i know i'd rather sing american idiot than:"they say the devils water it aint so sweetyou don't have to drink right nowbut you can dip your feet"
trecoolismyhomeboy Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Notice that Billie wrote the words "Don't wanna be an American IDIOT" not "Don't wanna be just a plain old American". There is a definite difference. Billie is critisizing some American politicians and the media, not America. He even says before "Holiday" in "Bullet In A Bible", "This song is not anti-American, it's anti-war!". Of course this Flowers guy has a right to his opinion, as we all do, but he says that his record is a way better example of America, than "American Idiot". It's one thing to critisize someone's work and opinion, it's another to say yours is better, just becuase your opinion differs from theirs. This man is a jealous bastard, and needs to WAKE UP and look around him and look at the world, and the terrible state it's in. As for the whole thing with the English kids at the "American Idiot" concert, the things Green Day plays music about, are really UNIVERSAL, which all good art should be. The story that is "American Idiot", can be applied to a lot of other countries and situations around the world, and I'm sure the U.K. could be one of them. Flowers is a "let's all be positive and pretend everything is ok" jerk. His Goddamn name is Flowers! o No matter what anyone says, we all know that "American Idiot" is practically a masterpiece, and there are way more fans than haters like this jerk.
zoki Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Green Day have been out of the limelight for a bout a year, apart from recently where they teamed with U2, so why oh why would he be jealous right now? Honestly, I can't see why he wud be jealous of Green Day, they made a huge impact sure, i mean people sprayed their hair green and made a mockery of rock, but the Killers album is at number one here, if anyone is jealous it should be every single other band, coz they're not number one.Wtf. Your missing the whole point of influence. It is way, way more than the current hit.Green Day have been in the limelight for about 12 years. It doesn't stop right after they stop promoting an album. The fact that they still get played 24/7 is proof that even though they aren't touring or making videos, they are still worth being talked about (and for the right reasons too). They have released 9 albums, 7 with mainstream success. What have the Killers done. Don't gimme that "brought back new wave" bullshit. And current charts don't count either, they're just gonna fall off in a couple of weeks.
bern Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 The n00b has a point.haha that made me laugh. anyway as everyones said brandon flowers is an idiot and probably doesnt even know green day's been around for so long. if his band was amazing, then maybe he could even consider criticizing green day, but someone just burned their new cd for me, and it sucks. so whatever to you brandon flowers nobody cares.
chuck_taylors Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I personally love The killers- and I'm not going to bag them, but I think Brandon should have kept his thoughts to himself, I'm sure a lot of people agree with him, but he should not be offended. What's with the cheap thing, saying that the English shouldn't be singing along with American Idiot. You don' have to be American to agree with Green Day's views. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who agree with Green Day and their views and are not American. And also what the fuck, how is Sam's Town a much better representation of America!? I have that album and it's about be dumped by chicks and the usual crap like that...I'm confused...this man is odd.
Austyn Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Egads. I'm shocked and appalled. But for Christ's sake, it seems like he's just trying to drum up some publicity for him and his band. Like "OMFG Green Day are totally un-American. Buy our album if you want good, wholesome songs. And some crack."
zoki Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 "has criticised fellow American band Green Day ...."Meanwhile Green Day recently carried out a nationally-recognised patriotic act when they performed with U2 for the re-opening of the Louisiana Superdome, which was used in a devastated state as shelter for thousands of homeless people following Hurricane Katrina last summer."Exactly. Green Day are way too involved in america to be "anti-american". They are very giving when it comes to charity and helping out areas of the country that have been going through trouble. I'll say it again, what has Brandon done that makes him so patriotic? Keeping your mouth shut doesn't say anything about your love for your country. It just makes you a pussy, that just makes the situation worse.
DeathOrGlory Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I guess Brandon thought the group needed a little more press. Everyone knows that all you have to do is criticize Green Day and you'll be in all the magazines and newspapers. Poor Brandon.srsly. AI came out 2 years ago, yet these comments appear when his new album drops.i don't get why anybody's even bothering to debate over how patriotic either band is.
soulpunk9 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I like the Killer's music, but Brandon needs to fuck himself cuz if he calls paying for a stadium sized set AND a two day show for 65000 people a day cheap, he needs to be shotNotice that Billie wrote the words "Don't wanna be an American IDIOT" not "Don't wanna be just a plain old American". There is a definite difference. Billie is critisizing some American politicians and the media, not America. You fuckin rock n00b....lol
ILoveGreenDayForEternity Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 man fuck brendon flowers.
Pan. Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 ....I smell jealousy.Brandon Flowers is a republican mormon -- of course he isn't gonna like Green Day. I bet he's really pissed about the title of the DVD too.He really needs to shut the fuck up. He obviously does not know what he's talking about....a very poor attempt to make people buy his album.
IAmARevenant Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Why again do people give a shit about this?
Pan. Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 It really infuriates us Green Day fans when other bands/celebrities talk shit about them, whether what they say is insignificant or not. They have no right to criticize Green Day.
toenails27 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 It's a shame his name is Brandon... I find it quite amusing that I had some kind of flower plant thing called Brandon... I didn't water it and it died...
Emily_the_StRaNgE Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 So this has probably already been said, but who hasn't Brandon Flowers dissed. It seems I read somewhere every day that Brandon is dissing someone. I think he needs to deal with the fact that his bands first album was close to good but his new one is just crap and that many bands are doing way better than his because they are way better than his.
Pan. Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Brandon has also criticized Radiohead's frontman Thom Yorke for writing "shitty songs."
Jose Luis Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Unfortunately i couldn't find an article on this on the net yet but i saw flicking through the music news pages on ITV's digital TV pages and saw a short article on Brandon Flowers from the Killers criticising Green Day for filming BIAB in England. He said he finds it offensive when he sees kids from the UK singing American Idiot as they dont know the true meaning behind it and he finds it anti american, he went on to say that Billie Joe knew this and thats why they deliberately chose the UK for BIAB.You can read more on what Flowers said here http://www.nme.com/news/the-killers/24702I personally think this is complete bullshit and Flowers is jealous.Anyone else think this guy needs to keep his ridiculous opinions to himself?jealous fucker...
armatageshanks Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 They have no right to criticize Green Day.ummmmmm.yes they do.anybody can criticize green day all they want, but if they have idiotic reasoning and are trying to make up for the fact that they dont have an original bone in their body like mister flowers, then they need to be put in thier place.
Pan. However, before they do, they should get their facts straight, which is why I said that they have no right to criticize them. Why criticize someone when you don't know what you're talking about?
armatageshanks Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 It really infuriates us Green Day fans when other bands/celebrities talk shit about them, whether what they say is insignificant or not. Why criticize someone when you don't know what you're talking about?where in there did you say anything about getting their facts straight?
kittenslayer Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Brandon has also criticized Radiohead's frontman Thom Yorke for writing "shitty songs."OMG, Radiohead >>>>>> the killers!!!!
