Green Day is getting the "Spirit of Liberty" Award

oh by the way, did Mike say anything about the new demos and album??

He said they had finished a lot of demos and had lots of new songs but that they were going to take their time and not release anything until they felt it was really good and was what they wanted to say. We talked about how AI changed a lot of things for them and he said yes, after that they feel more of a responsibility to make sure what they release is of the same type of quality without rushing and reflected what they want to say, (not necessarily politically) they would not let themselves be pressured to put anything out until they wanted to. He said they felt they couldn't just put out anything after something that was so big for them personally. This is all paraphrased, not exact quotes.

The autograph on the top right in my picture is Mike's, he wanted to write my name, but he didn't want me to tell him how to spell it, so he kept writing it and crossing it out until he got it right. (it is not a super common name or spelling) He was incredibly down to earth and nice. I had walked by him earlier when he was surrounded by a lot of people and when he looked at me I told him I liked his diner as I walked by and he got a big smile on his face.

I talked to all of them and Rob Cavallo, I had met Tre and Rob before but just briefly. I did get some pictures but they aren't that good. I talked to Mike about the demos and new songs for the new album and about their last two shows in Australia, I talked to Billie about seeing him with Elvis Costello in Atlantic City (he was really excited about it) and I asked Tre about the bandaid on his hand and asked him if he was ok. He told me he dumped his bike (a Ducati) and hurt his hand but when I asked him if he could still drum he said yes, it was fine. I said good thing it wasn't like Travis, meaning Travis Barker, and he looked very annoyed and asked me who Travis was. He was still nice though and later he did a whole series of poses for my friend and I where he was acting like a muscle man and then doing a ta da type of move and then turned around, lifted his suit jacket up and stuck his butt out. He was hilarious, unfortunately her camera was full and we didn't know it so we didn't get pictures of any of it.

Everyone who is asking what was up with him because he's red, I do think it was the wine, plus he just doesn't photograph that well. I know they are many great photos of him, but when you see him in person, he is so much better looking than he appears in photos and his skin is beautiful, you would never know he had lived such a wild life, he looks great! Adie looked stunning also, the photos of her from the event don't do her justice.

I think he knew and was just annoyed so he was pretending he didn't. The award itself is incredibly hideous. Mike warned me it was really heavy before I held it but I was not prepared, it must have been 15-20 pounds and I almost dropped it, that would have been great if it was broken within 2 minutes of receiving it. He had to grab it right as I was losing it. I'm going to post a couple of photos, but I'm going to delete them later, I really don't want them on here but I know how much I would want to see someone else's. One is Tre telling me about hurting his hand, the other is obvious. That's Rob Cavallo in the striped jacket in the Tre pic.
