justcause Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I hope I'm wrong, but I fear I detect a hint of sarcasm in your post. I'm concerned that many people appear to mistake all that stage bombast--and even the words of American Idiot themselves--for ignorance when it only, in fact, condemns true ignorance. And I'm not trying to attack you specifically when I say this, but I've seen too many people criticize Green Day for talking about "things they don't know about"--but do these people ever consider the possibility that they themselves are the ones who don't understand? And before they condemn someone for being one-sided, shouldn't they reflect that when one side is so blatantly wrong, can't there sometimes be a "right" side?So forgive me if the cause for my rant was erroneous, but I feel strong in saying: Yes. Give them the award.By the way, I hope people are actually checking out the blog that was linked in the original post, as well as the website for the organization that's giving the award. They're pretty cool, and worth your time. Can I give you another Amen? Or whatever you think is appropriate?
Fuzz Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I forgot to move this thread to General for discussion. Here you go.
The Doctor Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 You know, I would actually pay money to find out just how many awards they have won. And maybe a nice picture of them all on their mantlepieces.

Jose Luis Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 i knew they would someday win that kind of awards and my uncle says Shakira is better
karma_gypsy Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 When I first heard about that, I was proud of them and they are very deserving of it as well. Of course, they'll be receiving this award right in the middle of my vacation . . . I'm going to San Francisco (I think they'll be in Beverly Hills accepting the award).
