Hanging out on a Green Day Forum

haha, I can see from a parent view, and it is a bit wierd, it may seem unreal, and I do think sometimes its quite unpersonal and distant, no contact with other human beign personally.... but I have met some real good friends on the forums, odd yes, I still think is odd, but not weird.

My parents don't think it's weird that I have "internet friends" as long as they stay "internet friends".

Joining forums is just what I do to make up for my lack of social life. I'm seriously on so many of them that I've lost track.

Plus, you guys on forums help me out alot more than real people can. I mean, you're alot...nicer here than the real world. Here, sexual orientaion is no big deal, race doesn't matter, and nobody really knows what anybody looks like, so being attractive isn't a problem. And I can realate to all of you because most of us all share the common love for Green Day, and there are people on here that share other interests like me.

But I don't think it's weird. I like having internet friends. Even though you don't know them in real life it's still a person, at a computer just like you are.

And in some ways it is real life, because it's real people inteacting, and the things you say can have an effect on other people and things people say can effect you. That's pretty real to me.

i think of internet friends as almost pen-pal-ish. you know they're there, replying back, and talking to them, but its likely you'll ever meet them in real life.

yeah, but it would still be pretty cool, i guess.i mean, if you got to know the person more than what they say on the forum through AIM or whatever, and you really wanted to meet them, than i guess that wouldn't be too weird.

at a certain level, but if you feel you can talk and befriend with someone you don't know in person, and then you meet, I think it would be like starting all over again, I mean there are things you feel great about when you talk to ppl through AIM. MSn or whatever, YOU DONT SEE THEIR FACES or attitude or hear them, which is great, because mostly when you befriend with someone are those attitudes that keeps you on the path of friendship.....I dont know.

oh yeah, true. if you talk to someone face-to-face, you hear their emotion and stuff. everything changes when you meet a person, because you have to be aware of what the other person is doing. i guess the online friend is basically someone you can just talk to, share the same intrests in. yeah...

i dont really care what people think, but my friends all say it's weird and that most of the people are probably 50 year old child molesters (sp?). as for my family, they dont know.

one of my internet friend, well she lives near me so ya i met her last saturday. and my other internet friend, we send letters to each other cause she live in TX, and some times a phone call when her parents can affored it. and all my other iterent friends well there the best. i don't have any really life friends (besides my 1 friend from the interent), and thats mostly cause the ppl i know r snobes (sp?) and hate the music i listen to. thats y i was considered a freak at my school. now that i found GD fan sites i feel like i belong there.

my friends don't really care that i go on GDC. i tell my dad about the forum and he thinks that we're all crazy Green Day obsessed fans, even though we're really not. and, my mom thinks that i'm talking to all 50 year olds . i don't think that it's weird to go on here though, i love it here.

This is the only one I frequent, my kids and their friends think its cool, my husband doesn't care either way.

Very few people know tbh. Bloke thinks it's OK - he chats on gaming forums but he thinks I'm obsessed (quite rightly) with Green Day. Most of my friends kind of go all quiet when I talk about it. So I think they think I'm being childish. Hurrah for immaturity
