xxxHaz05xxx Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I think Green Day are still a great band, but I don't listen to their music as much now, because I've been listening to other bands, occasionally I'll listen to their stuff now.

allenxtreme Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 hmmm...Killers are pretty good live, so I got no idea what you're talking about, and...to me, continuous power chords are boring, I like to hear precise playing, with style. Green Day do not fit that in my opinion, infact I have to say that Green Day, are rip offs of a lot of bands, mainly Queen, now im a big fan of Queen so I may be bias, but the way Billie Joe puts on the crown and robe, how he goes "eeehhh oooooohhhh" and the way he "struts" in a camp way, I cant stand it, it's been done before by greater people, its too fake for me, he's not a natural. I watched BIAB AGAIN last night and it made me feel nothing at all, the same old songs that are played non-stop on the radio, I barely even listen to the radio but im tired of them now. Green Day DO have a few timeless classics, like Basketcase, Longview and Good Riddance, but for me, that's about it, i can listen to them time after time.I know im gonna get alot of shit for this, but hey, kissing their asses is not my cup of tea, im just being honest.

It's just opinion and taste, and everyone's entitled to it. Personally, I think Brandon Flowers vocals suck live, but vocals are not your interest, from what you've said.I think Green Day reference a lot of artists in their live act, rather than rip them off; does anyone looking at Billie Joe doing his King for a Day thing think for a minute of Freddie Mercury? Because it's nothing like him, it's just the same regalia - two very different artists, two great front men. He's certainly not trying to 'be' Freddie - not even when he performs We are the Champions, which he puts his own stamp on completely. Billie Joe knows his musical heritage - the fact that other people don't get the references is hardly his fault - for instance, when he's lying down and has someone put the cloak over him, you're looking at James Brown's stage dramatics, which predates Freddie. If he's not a natural showman, isn't it logical and to his credit that he employs props and set pieces to give a huge live show like BIAB structure and contrast, because the theatrics tend to come as a breather between the serious stuff - putting across the American Idiot story. I think he's a completely compelling frontman, because of the passion with which he communicates his songs, his unbelievable energy and effort, and his total communication with his audience. AI was something different than GD had ever done before in terms of scale, and they responded accordingly. I think they played a blinder, but your p.o.v. is your p.o.v.
~RebelKitten~ Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I'm not really losing interest... I'm just expanding my musical horizons to more than one band.
_She*_ Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I love them very much!!!! I'm still in "music- is-my-life" stage & Green Day is a part of music that i listen to. I like them cause with their music i've learned the Greatness of PUNk ROCK music (story, bands, songs) & thanks to them I like listening to other punk bands such as SUM 41, NOFX, MxPx, Sex Pistols..... They're some kind of teachers , x me!!!!! so.... I love them & I will love them 4ever!!!!!! p.s.= GD ROCKS!

I can’t listen to Longview or Good Riddance at all. With the exception of Holiday, all of the Green Day songs I consider classic were never released as singles.
shortie_8806 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 i still consider them my favorite band, but i never really play their cds anymore. im always playing something corporate or meriwether or my mixes. i guess once being a green day fan becomes a fad or the cool thing to do, it loses its excitement...for lack of a better word.i think once they come out with a new cd, i will be back on track with listening to them a lot more. i think american idiot just got sooo huge that every song became overplayed...and ive listened to their older stuff for a long time too.
netty Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 if you are losing interest... easy answer. go elsewhere. find another band who plays songs you can connect with. we dont have any right to demand that any band plays songs we can connect with. they should play songs that mean something to them. if you cant connect.... so what? find something you can connect with. if you want bands to remain ture to who they are... accept that their view point will divurge from yours at some point. learn to live your own life and not do it via some band. they can only ever be a reflection.
LamBCHoP Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Losing interest ?? NO Green Day is like a drug if you started listing to them you can t stop it!!! not really.. that only really applies if yourelike 15 r under
A Girl Called Kill x3 Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 i honestly am starting to lose some interest. they're still my favorite band, but they're not all i listen to, or all i think about anymore. i think that there's a certain point that, when you like Green Day that much you can't like them anymore then you have already. and it's pretty much all down hill from there. but they're still my favorite.

AI was something different than GD had ever done before in terms of scale, and they responded accordingly. I think they played a blinder, but your p.o.v. is your p.o.v.wow. it was hard for me to make it through that i agree. and has no one thought: 'Maybe he walks like that ALL the time! :/ ' and also, wouldn't the who 'crown and robe' thing fit KING for a day? but still, green day never gets old because i liked them BEFORE american idiot got big, i was watching TV when Holiday made ti's first show on MTV. but, my brother suggested i get AI so, it was out of the fact of my brother pushing me, my pure interest, and full curiousity that made me buy them, not the whole 'they're popular' shit. billie joe, also, puts his heart into everything. he tries to make every show his best, and he makes music his life next his family. i love green day, but like i said before (earlier post) i've grown to like the bands and singers i liked when i was younger again, and i'm finding new bands or liking old ones. for some people, you'll go back and ask why you even liked them in the first place. when you get out of that phase, you will realise that there are sooooo many other great bands out there... some mainstream ones are god, but theres heaps of indie band out there that are really good..some even sound like green dayno, i mean that it's still my life, but i don't listen to them 24/7. i've heard all of their songs and after a while you get bored but i still like learning about htem and seeing pictures.
Coffee In My 409 Maker Posted May 20, 2006 Author Posted May 20, 2006 Losing interest ?? NO Green Day is like a drug if you started listing to them you can t stop it!!!
