Losing Interest In Green Day ?

During the gap between Warning and AI I lost interest for a bit, well, not really interest, I just didn't keep track of what was going on with Green Day - I've never lost interest in their music - but during times when they are not touring or not releasing new stuff sometimes it's hard to keep an interest in things like Green Day websites or Green Day on TV/magazines because it's usually all the same stuff. I wouldn't really say i've lost interest and I don't think I ever will properly - I just might not be obsessed as I am when they are actually doing stuff.

I don't listen to them half as much as I used to. As many people who discovered them when AI came out, I totally immersed myself in everything to do with them, CD's, any magazine they were in, Tv shows etc. But I had never really been into music that much anyway. But then GD came along and changed all that. I now listen to a wide range of music, artists and bands, and music is now very important in my life. So I suppose I own that to them. I don't listen to them 24'7 and havn't at all in a while, but they are still important to me.

Not losing interest. I listen to other music, too, but Green Day still gets the most listens from me. :)

Yeah, that just about describes it for me.

I haven't lost interest. It's an on and off thing. One month I'll listen to them nonstop and the next I'll listen to a bunch of other bands. It really depends on my mood i suppose... But Green Day is my favorite band even if I don't listen to them all the time

I still like Green Day but I'm not so fnatatic about them as I was earlier this year. My interests usually change quickly from one thing to the next. Now its final fantasy VIII

I`ll probably lose interest the day they put an album out that is truely horrendous. but I`ll probably still buy the one after that to see if it was a one off or a real "parting of the ways" as it were.

Same here! GD changed my life! I only learnt guitar once I got in to them. They as people and their music are simply amazing! I'm so obsessed with them I could never ever lose interest! Even in like 60 years time I'll be one of those punk rock grannys with tatoos and piercings ... :ermm::huh::blink:

scary...

OK, maybe not, but I'll still love Green Day, especially Billie Joe.

I dont think I'm losing intrest. If anything I am gaining more!

I haven't been listening to them that much lately, but that doesn't mean that I've lost interest. I go throgh phases were I'll listen to them constantly and then I won't listen to them for a month or so. That doesn't mean I stopped loving them. They have been my favorite band for 6 years and will always be.

i lost intrest because i started listening to different music that i like better.

I only read the thread up to this point, this post pretty much sums it up. There are better bands than Green Day.

Are you kidding? How could I lose interest? :woot: Unless this is just a phase, which is is not, then I am never going to stop loving or listening to them. Of course when I listen to other music for a while, it's always such a breath of fresh air when I listen to Green Day again after I haven't listened to them in a while. :)

Green Day's music keeps me living like I should be! :D

they are basically all i listen to! and i am sure i am driving my mom crazy because of it :D

Hmm slightly, I've listened to all their stuff so much it can be a bit boring now and it's been a while since we've had any new fresh music from them. As others have said, they're just taking the 'back seat' with me for a bit.

never.

but i am getting bored. I want something new to happen!

I'm not losing interest in them or anything, but I haven't been listening to them much lately.

I've discovered so many new bands recently, that Green Day has taken a back-seat. For the time being.

ditto.

Fuckit, he's Californian, he can buy hair! :)

That will never happen. I'm just not very obsessed right now, because I heard too much their last album and I'm waiting for something new

Okay, so I don't know if someone has already made this thread. I searched and nothing came up (not what I was looking for, anyway). So unless I was searching the wrong words, than I guess this is the first. Hopefully.

I've just been on aol with some people and they were talking about how they were losing interest/lost interest in Green Day. Some said it happened long ago, after Warning, some said it was during American Idiot, because of the sudden success, and lots more. So if you happen to think you are losing interest (or you already have) in Green Day, please explain your reason here.

Well, I've listened to Green Day since I was about three ('94), since my mom liked them. But I never actually had a real musical interest in them 'til American Idiot. Mainly because before then, I was oblivious to music because all I heard was rap and shit like that, which i adamately dispise. So anyway, I bought American Idiot when it came out, and liked it. So I dug a little deeper, found some of their older stuff (She, Welcome to Paradise, Longview, etc.). And it was when I found 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours that I realized how far down the drain Green Day's gone in the past 17 years. Except for Letterbobm, the whole album is the basic ideals of new millenium Americans. Nothing more, nothing less. So yea, I'm slowly starting to lose interest in their newer stuff, and am really gaining interest in their older stuff, that I've missed out on since I was so young when it happened.
