I will never stop listening to their music, but I do tend to.. How do I describe it, stop thinking about them? Like I have now kinda. I am thinking about other bands alot more at the moment, but it doesn't mean I love Green Day any less :)

Green Day is my favourite band and Less Than Jake is my second favourite band. Since I've liked them both they have never toured at the same time, so my concert schedule rota has been working out nicely. I can take a break from Green Day now and freakishly obsess over LTJ. Then when Green Day release a new album and start touring again, I can give LTJ a break. That way my interest in both bands never slumps because I manage my listening habits well. I have been slowly filtering Green Day out of my playlists and I am listening to Less Than Jake a lot more lately. But I will always still listen to Green Day at least 5 or 6 times a week. And vice versa when Green Day is at the height of my interest.

There aren't any other bands I do that with, just these two. And Green Day is the only band that I have listened to consistently over the last ten years. <3

I will always love Green Day. I listen to other bands obviously but I listen to Green Day every single day and they will always be favourite band. I'm reminded everyday how much I love them and how grateful I am for them being part of my life. They're always changing, evolving their sound and their music and they will always be relevant to me. I don't think I'll ever lose interest in them.

If I haven't lost interest yet over the many years, I don't think its gonna happen any time soon lol

I can't imagine myself losing interest in Green Day. That'd be impossible. It's a creepy thing, but I can't see my life without them. I try not to wear their songs out, though, and sometimes I do get kind of sick of their music. It's pretty normal. Their songs had been out of my playlists for a period of time, but now they're back and I've been listening to some of them a lot.

A few months after Green Day stopped touring a few of my Green Day friends and I got into one one of their support band called Donots and I totally fell in love with them right away. Since they're from Germany they play a lot more concerts here and I'm able to attend much more shows. They talk to their fans after every concerts and are just really lovely guys in general.

So right now I don't really think about Green Day that often, I listen to their music, sure but at the moment I'm able to attend so many great concerts and I'm even able to talk to the band, that's totally awesome.

Green Day work on their new album now, which means that there is going to be a pretty long break, so I listen to other bands I didn't have the time to listen to while Green Day was on tour because I only thought about them. It doesn't mean I don't like them anymore, they are still my favorte band ever, I just concentrate on other bands right now. :)

I can't imagine really losing interest in Green Day. I just love them and their music so fucking much. They've turned me into what I am now.. myself. I've never felt so much love for a band like Green Day, I just can't describe it. I'm now a real fan since about.. idk, 2002/2003 or something and I still love them to death. Especially when I FINALLY saw them live a half year ago, I've never been so happy  Just the idea of never listen to them again or never see something of them again is freaking me out, so that's not gonna happen xD I must admit I change my mp3 player now and then cuz if I hear the same song for over a week I get tired of it so I put some other songs on it from other albums or FBHT's you know. And I'm not listening 24/7 to Green Day, I also love Sum 41, the Offspring and Destine and some other random rock-songs, but Green Day will be my all-time favourite band, they just gave me this warm happy feeling inside when I see or hear them haha. And maybe it's also the fact that meeting them IS possible, cuz the take fans up on stage and stuff like that, so it doesn't feel so.. far away or something. And how they act, they are so.. yeah, I can't say normal, but :P you know, argh I just can't explain xD the are so human haha.

LOL I think I know what you're trying to say. :D Like we can connect with them somehow, like with their music and the messages they're sending. Ah yeah it's hard to explain haha but yeah I think you get into the music, and then you start to discover the guys themselves and just realize...WOW these guys are normal human beings, and they've been through things that I/we can relate to. At least, that's how I feel about it lol.

Haha yeah! That's what I'm trying to say!

When I first heard a song of Green Day I was like: damn, this is some good shit! (Basketcase :P haha) And then I heard more songs like When I Come Around, Minority and so on.. I really loved the songs and the punkrockgenre, but I didn't know who Green Day was.. yeah, I knew it were 3 guys but I didn't care about that, I just loved the music so much. During American Idiot I LOVED their new singles Holiday, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams and Wake Me Up When September Ends but I still didn't know who they were really. After that I begun to search and stuff and I was like: DAMN I WISH I KNEW THIS BEFORE  So weird.. first I just loved their music, and now I'm totally in love with the guys too just of all the information I found about them, they're just so awesome and normal human beings, which gone through a lot of things just like "normal people". I think every real Green Day fan feels that kind of connection with the guys and the music, just awesome.

The thing about that is... for some people, Green Day was just a phase with them. They really loved them, and then they 'outgrew them.' At least, that's how I've heard it described.

And then, for other people, Green Day is just what they were looking for. It's a band that they can not only enjoy the music, but relate to, be inspired by, look up to. I know that's how it is with me. And I almost feel like you can tell the difference between the fans who are just temporary, and the ones that won't grow out of them, or lose interest. I don't know why, but I just feel like you can tell.

I couln't have said it better. To me, Green Day is a band that it seems Ive been looking for and once I found them everything just fell into place yknow. Everything just felt right. They gave me an outlet for myself and they are who i look up to and relate to. Ultimately they are my life. <3

Everyone's opinions on this are very interesting. I find myself reading a lot of them and saying, "Dude! That's exactly how I feel!" :P

Anyway, I tend to over obsess over things, therefore after awhile, however long it takes (weeks, months, years) I'll get burnt out on whatever I've become obsessed over. Not completely, but I'll lose some of the obsessiveness over time. However, every time they come out with a new album, but over obsessiveness starts all over again, lol.

I don't see myself losing interest, I have liked Green Day nearly all my teens and all my adult life so I think if it was a phase I would have outgrown it by now. I actually still listen to most of the bands I did in my teens. I listen to loads of other bands but Green Day have always been one of my top bands.

I couldn't have said THAT any better. :) After I found Green Day, I was introduced to lots of other bands I never would've found before. They were like the door to a whole new musical world for me, and I don't know how to thank them enough for that.

Ah same with me and my other favorite band, The Rocket Summer! Except TRS and GD are honestly tied for favorite bands in my life.

Dang, I just realized this thread started in 2006...

Yeah they both played at the same festival here in 2002 but I wasn't a LTJ fan back then. Ohhhhh, what I would give for a repeat of that

My love of Green Day is like a relationship :P. When I first got into them I listened to them nonstop, bought tons of merch, read every article I could find etc. Now it's more a controlled, steady thing, but they are still just in an entirely different league compared to my love for other bands. There's just no other artist/band that comes close. There's Green Day, and then there's everybody else.

All it takes is me seeing a picture or listening to one of their songs (or looking at my tattoo, hah) and I'm immediately reminded how much they mean to me.

My dad started going to Tom Petty shows when he was a teenager, and his love for that band is similar to mine with GD. He's still going to their shows, it is a lifelong passion, and I know mine is the same.

Two years ago I lost interest in GD, but hold on, before throwing your pebbles at me, let me explain I was kinda getting sick of them cause I didn't have internet at home (I know, soo pathetic) and I only had six records: 1039, Kerplunk!, Dookie, Insomniac, AI and Bullet in a Bible. I couldn't buy them all in a row I mean at that time I was a good girl and didn't want my mama to blow away all her money (now I do : D ahaha) so I wasn't really keeping up with all their news and all their music. And then some crappy band called Tokio Hotel took over my life :S and it was the biggest mistake ever. I loooved GD with all my heart and I had been a fan since 2005, but I just made the most stupid choice ever. Really, it sucks. I feel so guilty now. But I think it was worth it at some point cause now I appreciate them and I've learnt what real music is : D.

Anyway, I wish I'd never changed my mind cause maybe if I hadn't, I could have seen GD live on 10/22/2010 (U)

It's interesting to see so many saying that they'll never grow tired of Green Day. How do they know?

Anyways,

I definitely lost interest in the band about 2 years ago. And I want to point out that I was a huge fan in 2005-2007. It was much more than just a "phase". Their show in 2005 meant the world to me for quite some time. I bought 21st Century Breakdown when it came out, but I wasn't impressed. When they announced a show in Stockholm last year I didn't even get a ticket. Silly me. Eventually I changed my mind, and went out hunting tickets on the internet. I wasn't able to get a ticket for the Stockholm show (at an affordable price anyway), so I went to Copenhagen instead. It turned out to be an amazing show (obviously), and after that I was back in my Green Day obsession

I really hope the wait for a new album won't be 5 years long...

FUCK NO!!!!! Well not yet anyway.... someday in the future i probably will, but i doubt it will be soon!
