♥PunkKitty♥ Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I lost interest for a while. For like, half a year maybe. But recently I've gotten into them again, and they're my biggest fandom at the moment.
in_your_face Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 y'know, they've been a great band since 1994. they've influenced many people, even the famous Lady Gaga. MANY are just a show off. they're pretending to be not liking 'em. they still have the love and affection towards green day. but, many i mean most of 'em do not accept the fact that they love 'em. a week before, i didn't listen to their songs. well, then, one of my dearest friend whom i trusted and loved made fun of 'em. i couldn't reply nor talk back. i even cried in front of a dozen children! i realised how much i love green day! long live the kings!
Erica. Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 After last night, I've definitely regained some interest. Can't say how long that'll last, but who knows.
Mar Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Largely due to my depression about not seeing them, for the time being, I've unchecked all of their songs from my iTunes. I can listen to them at will, but they won't pop up on shuffle (which, 95% of the time, is how I listen to music). I think it'll help me feel better, and it'll see if the ultimate question this thread is posing is true!
AndrewW91 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 as of tonite.. after lookin' at the notes scrobbled on their Lollapalooza setlist.. there's been a definite loss of interest.. a great amount... You do realize that it was a fake, right?

GenerationZer0 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I lost interest for a bit from like March to about a week ago. But having them come play nearby (even though I didn't go) somehow made me way more interested in them again.
dawn71 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 NEVER!!! I have been a huge Green Day fan for over 20 years. I saw my 1st Green Day concert in Florida in Aug. 1991. I have never lost interest and never will. Through the years they have remain my favorite band of all times. My kids grew up on Green Day and knew the words to their songs since they could 1st speak. I hope to one day introduce my future grandchildren to Green Day.
kidney Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 You do realize that it was a fake, right? Now that I realize what you're talking about...you actually thought that was real? haha... yes I did! I mean I compared the writing to Billie's and it looked very much like it... anyhow I'm relieved this is not the case.
MCC Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I wouldn't say I lost interest in them but I go through phases where I don't listen to much music at all. They are, and forever will be, my favorite band. Some of the first songs I remember hearing are GD songs so they hold a special place in my heart. Been a fan since the early 90's so nothing will change that.
st.idiot Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 i won't or don't lose interest in green day but sometimes i'll listen to other bands a little more than green day but i will always love them and listen to them. green day's one of my biggest influences for me and i won't wanna lose that inspiration
Maddy. Just not all their music. Their first two albums I think are completely rubbish. But yeah, that's just an opinion. I make fun of Green Day all the time and people should chill out a bit. It's mostly just joking around. But what I said in the previous spam thread (about me not liking dookie/nimrod/warning/kerplunk/1039) was true. You have to accept that not everyone loves Green Day as much as you do.
Angie-Marie Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I tend to go in phases with all the music I listen to, and Green Day is no exception. I'll listen to one band/artist almost constantly for a while, then I move on to something else. It's not that I stop liking them, my interest just wanders easily. After spending a lot of last year on a Green Day binge, I'm not listening to them nearly as much now as I did then, but I usually don't skip their songs if they come up in shuffle mode either.

I'm totally the same
SixtiesJunkiie Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 i think the main thing to make loving green day a 'lifestyle' rather than 'phase' is to love them, but not be obsessive/this-is-my-whole-life about them. and it's good to take little breaks away from it all to come back to their music and fall in love again and again. it makes it feel new all over again so it never feels boring. i was listening to 'dookie' today (prob my fav from the band) and it's been a while and i was thinking "damn, i really MISSED this cd." it was awesome. i mostly get hyped (listen to them lots and follow up on the band a lot) when they are on tour and doing something like american idiot on broadway. i get excited for them. but in between all the hecticness, i chill it down a level or two.

EXACTLY. I don't really go try to find them on my ipod, but i still really enjoy it when it comes on
JoeMcHugh Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I started to lose interest around 2008, mainly because it had been ages since any new material had been released. We had Foxboro Hot Tubs for a while but it just wasn't the same. Because of this blink-182 became my most listened to band, it had been ages since I listened to them.
quantumimmortal Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Um... just because people who signed up for GDC don't have an interest in Green Day anymore, doesn't mean they should leave. There are people on the forum who aren't big fans anymore, but choose to stay around because they have friends on here. And there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever. Anyways, I'd say that I'll never lose interest in Green Day, but I know there's going to be points in my life where there's other bands I'm going to dig deeper into other bands and just listen to them more than Green Day for a while. Right now, I'm doing that with Avenged Sevenfold. I've been listening to them a ton recently, and I've only listened to Green Day a little bit. I think it's a good thing, just to take a small break and branch out to new stuff instead of listening to the same stuff over and over. I think it's great your not afraid to accept changes in musical preference even if it isn't permanent. Green Day aren't my favourite band but I still wanted to join GDC. A7X forever!

bat-chen Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I don't know if I lost interest but I used to be obsessived with them, I used to talk about them all the time and listen to there songs every day but in those days not so much but I still love them.
Smbcf Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I tend to go through phases, since June I've been listening to them a hell of a lot, but before that I wasn't really listening to them much at all. I guess seeing them live again reminded me how great they actually are, not that I actually forgot, but seeing bands live is always sort of refreshing and it gives you a reminder of their back catalogue! Green Day have definitely been the most consistent band in my life since 2004, no doubt about it.
badwolf Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I lost interest in them the second I heard Critical Acclaim by Avenged Sevenfold. xD IDK, that band was a "Love At First Listen" type of band for me. I still like Green Day a bit, it's not like I hate them now. I just found another band that I can love more. I grew up with Green Day all my life, so it's not like I don't love them anymore. Plus after a while, I got tired of them. I mean if/when a new album comes out, I'll probably be obsessed with them again, but not likely. For me their songs are overplayed since I used to listen to all their songs every single day.
ColetteCool Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 For awhile, I did. I just wasn't really like, doing anything, neither were Green Day, so I was listening to Paramore for awhile. But then we bought tickets to the concert and then I was all askdjasldkas so I like them again now. And I know how other people are like "I love Green Day but I love this band too", I'm not like that, I'm just all Green Day
john_galya78 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I wouldnt say i am losing intrest in the band but to me its not that exciting anymore than it used to be,maybe i am getting older,or i am just used to there older style but they will always be my #1
