Losing Interest In Green Day ?

Well, for nearly 5 years now I've been thinking that GD it's my favorite band ever and it always will be. I'm always up with the news, where they are right now (if they're touring), what they have done lately, what they've said here and there and what they're planning to do... It's really exciting for me to live thinking about them and waiting the day I will finally see them live in a concert, but sure I listen to other hundred of artists I like and spend my time doing other stuff and just living my life, going to school, etc.

I can stop listening to them or talking about them, but these guys are always in my head, even if it sounds kinda teenie/crazy.

I know that when I get older I won't have the same free time I have now and lost interest to them, but I'll always be grateful fo what they've given to me and enjoy the time I'm living today the best I can.

Definatly not losing interest. I've been listening to them since i was like, 8 years old.

Im maybe just a little less Fan-girlish, but not losing interest

Back in 2006 was completely and untterly obessed with them. But then in the middle of 2007 I started losing interest. I found new obessions and since then I have not been obessed. But I they are still my favorite band and I still love them. I'm just not obssesed.

I've never lost interest in Green Day, but I must admit, during the break between AI and 21st Century Breakdown, I wasn't as "obsessed" as my mom calls it. But as soon as I heard the demos for 21st Century Breakdown I was right where I started six years ago.

I, myself, thought it was just a phase, but Green Day is the only band that I can never get tired of listening to. I think they'll be with me for the long run. But I know there will be another break after the US and South American tour, but theres plenty of other good bands that will keep me occupied til then. :)

theres nothing wrong with my english i just cant b bothered to right it all out properly :L

But it looks so much better! :P

My mom used to think my Green Day obsession was a stage. I think she knows now that it's not!

I believe my two year anniversary to the forum was in January, and I was a much bigger fan of Green Day when I first started than I am now. Infact, I began to lose interest soon after joining. I began to get annoyed with the wait after American Idiot, and then when 21stCBD came out, I was not really anymore enthused, infact I was disappointed. 21stCBD wasn't much of a step up from American Idiot, and I think that's partly why I'm not as big a fan as I used to be.

I still love them, but really wish they'd make music like they used to...

Not just them, I was the same with Rise Against. Appeal to Reason did not impress me at all.

It happens...

theres a lot of people on here that only stay because they have a lot of friends on here

Since i got into them i dont think i have lost interest in them at all. Yes i will have off weeks when i decide i don't want to listen to green day, but its never permanent. Sounds stupid but there music has effected me so much i kunda feel attached and don't think i will lose interest. I mean i have loved them for 6 years, and thats the longest i have ever gone on one band, think max amount of time i have loved one band for before is 3 years, because i never felt properly attached like i do with green day...It's weird how some a band can make you feel so stongly

^ Pretty much describes how I've felt the past few years. Green Day was my 'gate-way' punk band, so I don't think I'll ever totally lose an interest in them. I may not be AS obsessed as I was when AI came out, but I still get pretty excited if they have a single coming out, etc.

Yeah I agree with Becca, during the gap between American Idiot and 21stCB I did lose a bit of interest simply because there was nothing new. I mean there was the Tubbies that I did get into quite a lot but it wasnt the exact same as Green Day being back in the swing of things!

i lost interest almost 2 years ago when i had a boyfriend and I didn't have mind for anything, but I realized about that and Ididnt let them go, I'll never do something like forget them, há, sounds like a joke

Now I feel like everyday I love them more and more, definitely they are going to be ALWAYS with me.

Definetly not! In fact my love keeps growing. I love them more and more each day. Is that even possible? lol

you know, i guess we'll all grow a little older, and wont have as much time to spend on anything Green day related. but one thing is sure, is that we've all been marked by this band (litterally in my case i got a GD tattoo) and we may lose interest at some point, but we'll always remember that at some point they've been very important to us. thats how i see it

I sometimes worry that I might lose interest before the nest album comes out, if the wait is as long as it was last time =/ But you never know, right now I love them so that's all the really matters

I havent lost interest in them but I am deffinatly listening to more music that isnt by them. Ive discovered (through green day actually) a bunch of other artists and am listeting to their stuff more. partly because it is new. When i first got into green day they were all I listened to for several years. But unlike the other music i listen to, i dont follow any other artists the way I do green day or get super excited at every piece of news i hear. corney i know but when all else fails i listen to green day because for me they still hold a special place in my heart that no band could ever replace

in short, I havent lost interest :) just expanded the artists on my ipod :P

I have lost interest in the past. However I have that with ALL the bands I LOVE. I mean now I have gone off of My Chem, Marilyn Manson and Muse. =/ But with Green Day I went off them a bit during the time 2006-8 for example I didn't listen to them for ages. But the new album changed that. It doesn't mean I don't love them if I don't listen to them much for a while. I think it makes it all the more special rediscovering a band and their music after a while.

Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with losing interest in a band during a lull between albums. That's what makes the new material so exciting, that you can fall in love with them again!

Posted

hell no, their music was pretty much all I could stand listening to after my dad died, and I still cannot listen to a lot of the bands that I really used to like before that. While I have started to listen to other stuff ( a year later ), I don't think of it as losing interest.

Also, I have two tattoos on my arms of band logo's, so strongly I feel that I will never jst lose interest.

i did lose interest in them back in 2008 coz i was listening to them too much and i wanted to get into some new stuff...but i have started to love them again, even more than i did before. :)

I think I've lost most of my interest in Green Day now. Idk, I just don't really see the appeal anymore but that's just me.

No. :)

I wouldn't say I've lost interest. I view my being a fan as like a marriage or something.

When I first got into them I couldn't get enough. I read every article and blurb I could find and listened to their music everywhere -- in the car, in my room, a few times in public places. God, I was just a crazy kid in love. Everything they did I worshiped.

Six years on I skim over their magazine appearances because I've heard all the stories so many times and let's face it -- rock journalists rarely create anything new and interesting. I listen to their music every now and then... mostly in my room, but I have another band on the side. Sometimes the stuff they do really pisses me off, but they're still MY band. The band that's been there through thick and thin and I could never love another one as much as I love them. I just know now I can feel that way and not be bat shit crazy about them all the time.

Right now, I've kind of lost interest. I don't read the articles, I don't watch the interviews, and I don't listen to the music. I'll probably regain some interest after I see them in a couple weeks, but ultimately they're not my favorite band anymore. They'll always be second, if not first sometimes, but I've listened to their music so much that it doesn't make a difference to me right now if I hear it or not.

In 5 years and 11 months I have never once lost interest in Green Day.

They're not a phase or just a band to me, they're a massive part of my life. I truly love them and their music and true love is something that never leaves you. I can not begin to explain what they mean to me or how much they've helped me.

I know I will never lose interest in them.

Sorry it just never gets old for me... I listen to other bands but it always comes back to Green Day... I just love them all that much :runaround:

I don't think I could ever lose interest in Green Day, they'll always be my favorite band in the world.

I do take breaks from listening to them though, cause otherwise I'd probably get a little tired of them.

Every time I discover a band which I get that "best band ever" feeling from, I find another band who I like just as much a few months later. Even now I could name the current bands which are my favorites, but I know I might not feel energized by them in a few months.

I lost interest in Green Day a long time ago. And then regained it. And then lost it again. And regained it. Right now I don't have much interest in Green Day but talk to me in a few months and I might be listening to every album every day.
