haushinkapritchard Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I've never lost interest in Green Day in the past few years I've listened to them. I'm really anticipating the new album and I don't mind that its been almost 3 years since A.I came out, they have been doing many little projecs even though they should just be having a long break. If I really like a band then I'll never lose interest. If people are losing interest they must have not been real fans in the first place.Besides they're only human and no band is constantly releasing stuff or whatever. They don't make music for whiny little bastards who want a new album every few months just to satisfy they're little annoying selves
green-kerplunk Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I never lost interest in green day and I probably never will cause their stuff is so diferent I can listen to their cd's the whole day and never get tired of them, I mean listen to insomniac and to 39/smooth they are different, even if the both are awesome. I think that's why I'm never gonna loose interest in them and because they are fricking awesome! And a true fan don't loose interest just because it was years ago since the last album came out!
Dirty Devil Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I lost interest about 1/2 a year ago, I'm not sure why, I think I over listened to them. I kept hearing them on the radio as well as at home and after a while I just got so sick of them. It's quite sad really...
complete freak Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 same thing as most people said..not loosing interest, but listening to other bands more.._.
GuitarPlayer5 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 listening to ALOT of MCR lately and just sort of laying back and waiting for GD to hurry the fuck up
itsonlyrain Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 About a year and a half ago I was uber obsessed with them, and it's kind of deminished over the years, and now I don't really listen to them at all.
Nova-Caine Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Never never never never never...........I do like fall out boy now tho
MusicalDeviant Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Actually I've been more interested in Green Day lately. On Friday I go to Berkeley for the weekend, and I'm pumped. Rudy's here I come!!!!!
Annie. Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 oh hey, this thread exists!in musical terms:there's only so many times you can listen to their songs. I rarely listen to them anymore, though I still like the songs and American Idiot miight be one of my favourite albums. but I still respect them as musicians and as an introducer to underground punk.in the boys in general:I've lost respect for them.I never really found them as hotties. And everyone has their flaws. For Billie, fame, success and money has got to his head.I solely lost respect for them when they started mocking me. so you have a massload of fans during AI's release, don't start throwing mugs and socks and underwear at your own fans thinking that we'd buy it just because it's got "Green Day" on it. I mean, what do they take me for? and if the money was for some good cause, it'd say so on the product, wouldn't it? and merch doesn't mean you stay in the music business, who really starts listening to a band just cause some dude you saw was wearing their shirt, let alone underwear? oh and what's with charging your own fans membership fee to join the Idiot Club? all fans should be able to read Q&As regardless how much money they have.
catastrophic Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I solely lost respect for them when they started mocking me. so you have a massload of fans during AI's release, don't start throwing mugs and socks and underwear at your own fans thinking that we'd buy it just because it's got "Green Day" on it. sharon mitchell Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Never. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of bands and nothing compares to these three magicians. As for the 'sell out' accusations, they have not sold out - they still do exactly as they please. Their label may have exploited the appeal of the heart handgrenade (and heaven knows I own a fair bit of the merchandise myself!) but the band has risen in my estimation through their involvement in charity work, especially Bill's trip to New Orleans. I love them more every day.
Annie. Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Right, so the main reason you dislike green day now is because they are trying to get money and make profit, and make a living?dude, having a multi-platinum album is enough to make a living. a simple line of tees is enough to make a bit more. they just went over the top.
catastrophic Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 dude, having a multi-platinum album is enough to make a living. a simple line of tees is enough to make a bit more. they just went over the top.oh, so they took a knife to your throat and FORCED you to buy and pay for every little thing they were selling?the whole point is, you DON'T HAVE to buy it.
pnkrckprincess Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I will NEVER lose interest in them, although I have been listening alot more to MCR, but still i'm a GD girl till I die! I can't wait for their new album to come out if it doesn't come out soon i'll die!
Annie. Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 oh, so they took a knife to your throat and FORCED you to buy and pay for every little thing they were selling?the whole point is, you DON'T HAVE to buy it.no one's forced to buy it.but look at the market. majorly, kids aged 7-20--> the most persuasive, the most gullible, and the most spending. most teens jump on a LOT of bandwagons, trends, fads, etc. and they're probably American, or from any of the other richest countries. so long as it's there, so long as they know that they've got a massive teen fanbase, they know that the stuff's gonna be bought. don't get me started on the 'rare' eBay stuff. that's clever marketing for ya. ohmygosh, here's an example.nowhere near HALF of the current Misfits fans would even know who they are today if there weren't so much merchshit with that same frickin skull on them.

Mato Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Never!!! This whole long waiting is really worthwile. I just KNOW their new album will kick ass!!!
Annie. Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I honestly doubt that the sole reason they're selling items with Green Day logos is simply all for the money. There's a such thing as pride/support, for something you like, you know?it's support when you wear a t-shirt to tell everyone you root for this band.what kind of support is it to buy underwear that no one's gonna see anyway?it's African kids with AIDS that need support, not the biggest millionaire concert-CD-tshirt band in the world.
IWantYourBabies Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 it's support when you wear a t-shirt to tell everyone you root for this band.what kind of support is it to buy underwear that no one's gonna see anyway?it's African kids with AIDS that need support, not the biggest millionaire concert-CD-tshirt band in the world.Other people get paid from selling merchandise, dontcha know? And if they take away their Green Day undies, what about all those poor people who actually wanted Green Day undies? Wearing those undies might make them happy. And how do you know that Green Day don't donate a good proportion of that money to the AIDS kiddies?
itsonlyrain Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Other people get paid from selling merchandise, dontcha know? Like the Darfur benefit t-shirts and whatnot.
randomness Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 are you still at it Annie, in another thread now? you're not changing anyone's opinion, give up. we know you don't like all the GD merch, what's with trying to convert everyone else to the same way of thinking?
IWantYourBabies Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Maybe so, but the guys can do what they like with their money.
Annie. Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Other people get paid from selling merchandise, dontcha know? And if they take away their Green Day undies, what about all those poor people who actually wanted Green Day undies? Wearing those undies might make them happy. And how do you know that Green Day don't donate a good proportion of that money to the AIDS kiddies?don't make me laugh.Of course, whoever made the actual shoe would get paid the small fraction of those grenade shoes.oh! I forgot all about the poor, poor kids who actually want GD undies! how can I be so inconsiderate?? .. those kids wouldn't have wanted those undies in the first place if they didn't exist.if Green Day wanted to donate a good proportion of the profits to some good cause, it'd say so on the advertising and product. amirite? therefore, people would have more reason to buy the stuff and the fans would appreciate them more.are you still at it Annie, in another thread now? you're not changing anyone's opinion, give up. we know you don't like all the GD merch, what's with trying to convert everyone else to the same way of thinking?my purpose here isn't to convert. people are talking about it, considering what I've said. that's enough for people to make up their own minds.and if people aren't affected in the slightest by the conversations, then that's fine, because I came here to find out what other fans have had to say.by being adamant in what I say, it keeps a balance in debate. it's fair this way because there's a whole heap of you saying things against what I've got to say. so the reason why there are so many posts of my view on the matter is cuz there pretty much is only me on the side I'm currently on.
