Queen For A Day Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I think that I only lose just a pinch of interest in between release of their cds. I think the only reason why I, and you guys lose interest is because there's no new cd for a while, so in that gap, you're kinda like "...." - haha. I don't know. But once new material comes out, that thrill is there again. Then Green Day goes on tour, and you look like this : haha. But whatever happens, I never fully lose that interest!!I'm always gonna stick around as a fan
gdspunkgirl Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 ^i agreei think its between the cd's that we lose interest because theirs no new news on the boys and no songs being released...
likeahandgrenade Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 hmm... i really don't know. i mean i definitely love their stuff, and couldn't imagine what it would be like without green day, but i just think that they've made a mistake by touring american idiot for so long. it's been a really long wait for a new album, and i think that that may be why people are starting to lose interest. we find other bands to listen to in the meantime... especially if those other bands are coming out with new stuff.yeah, i think more than two years is too long to go without an album... i mean if i think about what came out around a similar time american idiot did, most of those bands have already had a follow-up.ie: fall out boy's from under the cork tree... now they've released infinity on highsame with mcr- they had 3 cheers for sweet revenge, and now they have welcome to the black parade out already :/
One Lite 1 Mind Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 i lost interest in Green Day last summer..i think im pretty much over them for a while... i am into a lot of other different bands right now.
xxx Sarah xxx Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I'm actually more into them than I've ever been. And my obsessions lasted over two years now

mechanicalman Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I lost interest after Christmas. There are many bands who I now like more than Green Day. The NRDC thing made me dislike them. They're trying to be like Sir Boner. And BIAB was a rip off.
Alejandra. Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I'm not losing interest at all. The difference is that I don't watch them on tv 24/7 like I did last yearWow! weird it's the same here!Oh wait a minute! We live in the same houseee..lol
sodapop and ritalin Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 i havent lost intrest in them at all.during american idiot is when i really got into them and i would buy a new green day cd all the time since theres so many i wouldnt get bored because i always had something different to listen tobut since they're not doing anything right now i'm starting to listen to other bands and stuffbut i still love green day i always will they will always be the number one band for mei dont think that will change even when i do listen to a new band i like them alot green day will always just be betterwell to me at least there music is awesome and timeless there lyrics are amazing and they have inspired me so much they'll just always be the best for me.I agree with you in that I've never thought of GD as music you cut your teeth on, so to speak; I hear people talk about GD as sort of a 'starter' band that led them to other music, which is cool of course, but to me, GD's music is unique, evolved and accomplished, and totally stands in its own right. I listen to absolutely every kind of music, and take on board anything that appeals to me, but GD is my band for life. I love where they've been, and I'm excited for where they're taking it next. I also think that listening to new stuff is really important, be it new bands or classics - today alone, I took in Apocalyptica, X-Ray Spex, early Queen, Children of Bodom, The Beatles - I'll listen to anything anyone recommends, or that I come across randomly. Music is a big world, and it's a shame to limit yourself. Edit: I should add, right now I'm listening to Kerplunk. said perfectlygreen day is my band for life
iamwhatsername13 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 To be honest if you lose interest in them in that short of a time period your not really a fan of green day. You would stick by them during their hole career. so no i haven't lost any interest. Oh and when i first read this topic title i thought it said losing internet.
sydneygirl Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 No, I haven't lost interest at all. My interest in them is burning as brightly as ever. I have all their albums on my ipod and I go through bit by bit each day listening to each album from beginning to end. Depending on what song is in my head at the time, I put that album on. I come here to GDC everyday to see if there is any new news about them. My interest hasn't waned in the slightest.
Ctyofthedmnd Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 i havnt listened to greenday in about 6 months until yesterday, im gaining interest back
Alex Ash Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Well, this is uplifting.just like all the R.I.P threads I'm not losing intrest I'm very exited on what there planning I hope there next album is as meaningful as all there old ones but not exactly like American Idiot :/
Warning__ Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I've lost interest, almost completely. Release a new album you fuckerz!
mbk Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I agree with you in that I've never thought of GD as music you cut your teeth on, so to speak; I hear people talk about GD as sort of a 'starter' band that led them to other music, which is cool of course, but to me, GD's music is unique, evolved and accomplished, and totally stands in its own right. I think I tend to the opposite extreme: I'm a grumpy old coot who usually doesn't like anything. But Green Day is, as you say, in a class of its own. Other music I like is usually punk rock and some folk music (and punk rock is arguably a type of folk music in that it follows a very traditional pattern), mainly because I can't stand artyness and pretentiousness. But Green Day manages to be authentic, stick to its punk roots, and still be wonderfully artistic and inventive, all without a trace of self-consciousness or pretense. It's a rare feat. And yeah, I'll never tire of it.

I listen to other music here and there, but mostly i have green day on all the time. My computer here plays the all green day station, i only have gd loaded in my computer at work so thats all i get there. (well ok I have All American Rejects and Blink 182 too) I get really into one GD album for awhile, then i rediscover a different one.(just this past two weeks i have fallen in love with American Idiot again, hearing stuff I missed the last time i was into it) I honestly dont think I will ever tire of their music either. It just speaks to me on a level that most other music just doesnt.

Well im not a grumpy old coot....and youre not one either....... but that is exactly the same as me!!!I'll listen to like Warning for a while, then ill hear an AI song on the telly and ill listen to that and so on. I never tire of Green Day!!!^_^
nimrod-41 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I don't think I'll ever lose intrest in Green Day.They're just such a big part of my life.Without them I doubt I ever would have learned guitar... If I did lose intrest then I would have waisted a hell of alot of money on CD's, poster, shirts, ect.I like them as much now as I ever have
greeny Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 when i was like 11 or smthg, i saw AI on my sisters desk, and so i grabed it and never let go. she didn't got to listen to it too. no way. i didn't even know what the bands name was. but it was fucking awsome. so i listend 24/7 to it. but that changed somehow, they're still fucking awsome, but nothing really is going on-- but now again i got the rerealese from kerplunk andslappy hours. so once again, i'm listening 24/7 again. anyways it would be much to complicated to put downb all my gd posters, so i'm damn not losing interest.

shenanigans041 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I'm getting sick of the same songs,Becuase there hasn't been any new ones in about 3 years,So I'm listening to other bands more often lately,I still listen to Green Day but not as much,When They come out with a new cd,I'll start listening to them alot again, because there old songs will be more like,Refreshed in my head.I still love Green Day ALOT,The best band In the world. So i guess I'm not losing interest,It's more, like making things more interesting.I got the re issued 1,039 Sosh though so it's great to listen toand I still need the new Kerplunk
*Megan* Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I'm extremely open to new music and I have a very varied taste. But, Green Day have always been my number one. While I like opera, I have a large space in my heart for three dorky punk-rockers.
Ash Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 ^ haaha, dorky punk rocker's are the best i've started listening to alot of other bands, mainly ones i've discoverd through this forum.. but Green Day is still my fav, and i still listen to them everynow and then but i cant wait till some new stuff comes out
