whatsername131 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 ive lost a bit of respect from the whole american idiot thing it just bothers me that a lot of the time you can only find american idiot merch maybe i want warning merch or something thats annoying but, i wouldnt say ive lost interest although i have gained interest in a couple other bands but GD is still my favorite!
hardtoconcentrate Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I don't know how certain people go from loving Green Day to hating them. They lost a lot of fans when American Idiot was released because of the whole 'sell out' crap but I think thats retarded...they're still the same band they always were with the same records! Just because they release a record you maybe don't like doesn't mean their previous material has changed!I've been a fan of Green Day since I was 12 years old and I will always be a fan. Their music has been with me all through my teenage years. There's tons of other bands I listen to and go see in concert but it doesn't mean I'm disloyal to Green Day. I could go for weeks without listening to a Green Day song buts thats because there is such a wide range of music out there for us to enjoy and it would be a shame if u only listened to the same band every day. I also think its kinda pathetic when people go off Green Day when they're on a break...to me, its kinda disrespectful. Look hoqw hard the guys work..they're entitled to as long of a break as they desire...they can't constantly be in the limelight just to please some bored 'fans'.Thats my opinion anyway

billie7joe Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I would never lose interest in Green Day, they're one of my favourite bands! Yeah, i haven't listened to their albums in a while, cause they're are a lot of great bands out there, and cause i've listened to every single GD album at least a million times. But i'm anxiously waiting for their new album to come out. When that happens, and after i get tired of it i'll probably start listening to their older stuff again!
TotalBasketCase13 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Lately, I haven't listened to them hardly at all. Does that mean I've lost interest? HELL NO! I've just been going to more concerts and listening to other bands I love too. It's kinda good to go a few weeks without listening to them, because once you finally do, the music seems really fresh and just brings all these good feelings back. Certain other bands have been taking up more of my time recently, but Green Day is and always will be first and foremost to me. No band can replace what I feel for them.
Guest 16PaperLanterns Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Right now I'm into other bands, but I still like them. I haven't listened to their music for a while, but I'm sure that as soon as they release a new album, I'll dig right back into their CDs.
cherry27 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 in 11 years, i have never lost interest in this band. they are one of the few bands that i never get tired of listening to their music. and that in no way means that i don't listen to other bands, i love discovering new bands and listening to a wide variety of music. i've never been one to relvolve my life around anyone thing so while i may not listen to green day for a few weeks at a time, i do seem to go back to the songs often. and i still get the same smile on my face when i hear them.i'm really anticipating the new album, but it's not something that i dwell on and complain over about how they're taking to long to finish it. i'm content knowing that it will be a great album regardless of what direction they decide to take their sound. i just love how they just keep making great songs. they've been my favorite band for 11 years, and i've pretty much accepted that they always will be.
BlindedByTheSilence Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 well obviously i'm not super obsessed with them like i was before but they're always going to be an important band in my life and even though i have other favorite bands now and i i don't listen to them as often as i used to i still listen to them alot and they're still this huge thing for me and i think they always will be
redundantle Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Well, as I am a rather new fan, I'm not really losing interest in them. True, I didn't listen to anything else this time last year, and now I listen to a lot of different rock music, but I'm still equally as interested in them.
**Maria** Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Nope, I'm not losing interest I have the same interest than the first day I heard them or even more
LetterBomb) Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I don't get how some people just "grow out of" Green Day. I never have and probably never will grow out of the any of the music I listen to, especially Green Day because they have saved my life in situations where nothing else could. What are your thoughts?I agree
GreenDay-Idiot Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I'm not losing interest at all. The difference is that I don't watch them on tv 24/7 like I did last year
justcause Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I don't get how some people just "grow out of" Green Day. I never have and probably never will grow out of the any of the music I listen to, especially Green Day because they have saved my life in situations where nothing else could. What are your thoughts?I agree with you in that I've never thought of GD as music you cut your teeth on, so to speak; I hear people talk about GD as sort of a 'starter' band that led them to other music, which is cool of course, but to me, GD's music is unique, evolved and accomplished, and totally stands in its own right. I listen to absolutely every kind of music, and take on board anything that appeals to me, but GD is my band for life. I love where they've been, and I'm excited for where they're taking it next. I also think that listening to new stuff is really important, be it new bands or classics - today alone, I took in Apocalyptica, X-Ray Spex, early Queen, Children of Bodom, The Beatles - I'll listen to anything anyone recommends, or that I come across randomly. Music is a big world, and it's a shame to limit yourself. Edit: I should add, right now I'm listening to Kerplunk.

Just because they release a record you maybe don't like doesn't mean their previous material has changed!Amen.I still love them and I think I'll never stop. They're a big part of my life. They really mean something to me. Green Day opened my eyes for a better music. I'd never get to know so many amazing bands without them, I'd never start to play the guitar and I'd never form a band, without which I couldn't imagine my life.Green Day will always have a place in my heart. Although, I must admit that I don't listen to them as often as I used to, but it doesn't mean that I've lost interest in them. Now I'm just less obsessed
Totally obsessed Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 No way - they've had such a huge impact on my life, I'll never stop loving them I'm not quite so addicted as I use to be I'll admit, but I still listen to them and play their stuff loads. I still have unhealthy obsession
mr.fender Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 i´m losing interest on bands like linkin park, but not green day :iluvff:
captain peroxide Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I go through Green Day phases.I put my iPod on shuffle with just their songs playing and just listen to that for about 3 weeks. Then I'm sick of them, and I go and listen to everything else I have, which is all also really good music. That lasts for a month or so. And then I re-include GD songs back into the playlist. And then I get all excited when it comes on.And that continues for however long. Then I feel like I need me a GD fix and I go back to stage one! Pretty simple.I hope to God I never move on from Green Day. In a couple of years I probably won't be as into them as I am now. But I truly hope that I never stop listening to them for the rest of my life.Ha. I'm going to be 80 years old, rocking out to Basket Case and then I'll break my hip. Whatever the mainstream music is when I'm older, I'll be treating GD like my grandparents do with classical music. That's really hard to imagine. But it's pretty funny.
No Man Can Eat Fifty Eggs! Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Three months ago you couldn't have gotten me to listen to anything but Green Day. For some odd reason, I've recently been stretching my musical horizons and getting crazed about bands that I never thought I would like. But I assure you, the second, nay, the millisecond the new Green Day album comes out, my love for them will be renewed again. But then again, I will always love them.
gdspunkgirl Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 i dont listen to them as much cause before i was OBSESSED and thats all that i would listen to,but that doesnt mean im losing interest...im sure as soon as the new album comes out i will be overly obsessed again and listen to them ALL the time!!!if i lost interest i wouldn be on here right now... :/i guess wut im trying to sayis im still obsessed and i havent lost interest
Jannan Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I still love them, and I'm pretty sure they will always be my favorite band. But, yeah... ever since last summer, I've discovered some new bands and stuff. I suppose I was starting to get a little tired of Green Day, and just wanted some variety and change.
