BIBARAGURORIA Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 You're not a piece of cloth one ties 'round their neck to keep their shirt clean; I'm not a shopping centre; These really aren't the points here, Bib. The point is that you're getting on loads of members' nerves with your so-called 'discussion participation'. And just so you're aware, this 'participation' makes you look like a total tryhard. FYI? You're not English, love. You're not part of the Scoobies. You don't live in the Whendonverse. So please, drop the Giles and/or Spike act and grow the fuck up. If you can't manage to do even this, then please, just stop posting in total. Us Green Day fans will be a lot happier without you around --- Promise! Alright, I'm asking you nicely, now; please call me Biba. I don't like being called Bib, at all. See? Nice and polite, calm. I know I'm not English, or part of the Scoobies, or live in the Whedonverse. I'm not stupid. I talk this way because I want to talk this way. It's not an act, it's a habit I've developed, kind of like my habit of calling everyone pet names. There's no sinister purpose behind it, it's just a thing I do, and I'm not going to stop. Frankly, I don't see a reason to stop. No, I think I'll stay. And if I'm not mistaken, a lot of people are annoyed by you, too. Before you fly off the handle, that's not an insult, just an observation.

Why don't you go and whine about me some more on your Tumblr, instead of subjecting everyone to your spam here on GDC ...? No one's interested anymore! Now, onto things that actually matter! Who else has had people trash you for liking Green Day because of your age ...? I never even thought being trashed for such a thing was possible until a few months ago, when I rececived an insanely pretentious speech about how Green Day was a band that only middle schoolers liked, and that anyone over the age of thirteen really shouldn't be listening to them anymore. Riiiiight. I knew that there were idiots in this world, but I had no clue there people out there that were that idiotic, y'know? Needless to say, it was quite the trippy experience.
St. Jimmy 7234 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I get sh*t all the time for being a Green Day fan. I don't let it affect me though. I just say stuff like "Billie Joe doesn't care if you think he sucks" and then move along. I am slowly trying to learn to accept others' opinions on them though instead of yelling at them haha.
BreakdownBrit Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I know I'm not English, or part of the Scoobies, or live in the Whedonverse. You know thats probably the coolest thing you've said on this thread (bar the not being "British" not English, English is a language, not a nationality)...long live the Whedonverse...now I'm off to watch some Firefly and eat my own bodyweight in candyfloss...

I'm 19, and my mum is 58 (she's never gonna see this so she won't care I've put her age up here) and we are both Green Day fans, mum has had a few comments come her way along the lines of "Oh I thought that Green Day would be a little immature for you." to which my mum replies "Well in my head I'm a 18 year old and the 18 year old me loves them..." I LOVE HER SO MUCH! You can use that to tell the idiot who gave you the speech... When I get comments however I get them from older fans mostly...stuff like "How can you say you've been a fan 19 years you can't be, you can't even remember when you were younger so who says you liked them?" well pfft to you, I grew up listening to Green Day since I was The Bump, mum played it all the time and so screw you! I've had the whole "I thought you would have grown out of them by now." thing too...Everyone has a fave band, hell I used to love McFly until I turned 15 and realized that they just weren't getting to any kind of point I could relate to. Green Day could, I relate to a lot of their songs, especially their political songs, in the same way I relate to a lot of Bad Religion and Anti-Flags stuff...The point I'm trying to make, however long winded is that Green Day has grown up a lot in their music and its been the perfect pace for me and now others can enjoy that too...

I got this too. I was talking to my friend about a Green Day concert I went to and this guy walked over to us and said: "You're still into them? I liked Green Day when I was 12.. then I grew up and started listening to better music." Ehm.. good for him. Everytime I talk to someone about Green day other people feel the need to tell me how shitty they are. I don't bash their music taste so they should stop bashing mine. Some of my classmates also tell me to stop listening to American Idiot because it's old. ...seriously? I can't understand people who just put all the number 1 hits on their iPod and think every song that's older than two weeks is bad.

I can't understand people who just put all the number 1 hits on their iPod and think every song that's older than two weeks is bad. I KNOW, that's one of my biggest pet peeves. People say they're such a music lover, but all they actually listen to is Top 40. Lame. I will never ever understand it.
germackpaccone Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Mallory, stop starting shit. I get a kick out of how a 15 year old has a more intelligent argument then you do. Now, seriously. Stop. Bye.

That's seriously awesome how your Mum got you into Green Day ... 'Specially since she started doing it when you were still the womb, haha! Good for you for standing up for what you love and believe in. I got this too. I was talking to my friend about a Green Day concert I went to and this guy walked over to us and said: "You're still into them? People say they're such a music lover, but all they actually listen to is Top 40. Lame. I will never ever understand it. I hate this sort of attitude towards music, as well. But think about it this way: It's their loss. We're the ones who're going to have meaningful music that we connect with our whole lives. Music that we consider special, music that speaks to us, music that makes us feel as though it was written just for us ... And everyone else is going to be stuck with meaningless ever changing top forty 'hits' their whole lives, never understanding that they're missing out on something more real than anything they've ever listened to. That's just it, though --- They aren't listening, not really. If they did, if they actually gave something outside of a top forty list a chance, then maybe they wouldn't be so quick to trash us Green Day fans.
BreakdownBrit Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 English is a nationality, just saying. LOL except when your abroad! I call myself English when I go to like Wales or whatever but if I go on holiday abroad I say I'm British...
