Storer Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 ok. look. i have been in very tough situations and Green Day has been my other family. what would you do if someone offended your family ???? i don't want to fight with you, ' cause you're a Green Day fan, so please, if you don't know, don't insult me. They aren't your family, they're your favourite band. If someone else doesn't like them that doesn't give you the right to be angry.
Doctor Demon Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 A while back, I was talking to a friend on the phone, and I mentioned Green Day. He then proceeded to try and tell me that BrokeNCYDE were better than Green Day. I didn't really say anything, but that's just hilarious, looking back. Nowadays, no one says anything to me about it. Probably because most people don't know I like them.
nicicky Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I'm glad I don't have to deal with the hatin'. My best friends are all Green Day fans, which makes life so much simpler. I do know this one girl though, and her boyfriend, they both hate Green Day with a passion and will pay them out as often as possible. Whenever a topic involving the band comes up in conversation they will find the littlest things to complain about. The latest discussion we had was the apparent editing of Billie Joe's voice using autotune on both AI and 21CBD, I'm not saying that his voice isn't edited, because it clearly is on more than a few songs, there are obvious effects added and I'm sure everyone can hear it - but they tried to say that he had used so much post-processing that the pitch of his voice had been completely changed on both records. I tried to explain to them that Billie Joe can work his vocals just as well in person like he can on record. They disagree. They haven't even seen Green Day live. In conclusion, I think they're somewhat ignorant morons.

If someone else doesn't like them that doesn't give you the right to be angry. This. Or, it doesn't give you the right to be violent, at least.
Haniik Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 It's not about really "hater" but a person, who really pissed me off. I went to a profile of one girl, where was: I LOVE Green Day, I LOVE Tré Cool, he's so sexy. I DON'T like Mike, he doesn't belong to Green Day. They should find new guitarist. And I HATE Adrienne, because she stole BJ from me. I read that and I was like "fuck". A girl like that call herself a fan? Yea, there's a lot of fans who like only one member of GD (mostly BJ ), but I think that TRUE fan have to respect the whole band, not just adore one member and say the rest sucks! And about Adrienne... the same thing, RESPECT. Billie loves her, and even the idea that he'd be with me is cool, it's impossible. And by the way they're so lovely together. Hum, hope it makes sense, my english is bad

I don't see how anyone can hate Adie. I mean, I really can't. She's basically the inspiration for Billie in all walks of life, so I think she's the one who helps us have new music to listen to.
colour_me_stupid_ Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I dont know if this counts as bashing, but a couple of weeks ago I was at the train station just leaning against a pole thing, I was wearing a Green Day t shirt. And this guy came up to me, and I guess he was chatting me up, he saw my t shirt and asked me did I like Green Day, then he went "Do you wanna be an American Idiot?" in a sing song voice and he started dancing (He went on the put his arm around me etc etc ) Now I think about it, yes he was most definately chatting me up, so this shouldn't be in this thread It's just that at the time it felt like he was taking the piss out of me
Doctor Demon Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 About a year ago, I was talking with a friend about Green Day, and this guy who's always being a total dick comes up and is like "Ohhh, they're terrible, they can't sing, they can't play guitar..." and all that. After every statement, I was just like "Whatever." He wasn't really worth my time, because he's generally a moron.

Don't mind Bib, Christina. For one thing, most all of her 'clever comebacks' are stolen from Buffy, and for another, she's not even a Green Day fan anymore. Trust me, love, she's not worth more than a millisecond of your time. I, for one, completely understand and sympathise with your predicament, and I happen to think that Green Day would be honoured you consider them your second family! Just keep doing what you're doing, and if anyone tries to give you shit for it, tell them to go fuck themselves first, and ask questions later.
Izzard Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 My family are a bunch of maladjusted losers, so I actually wouldn't care. And who said I was a Green Day fan? Really? (sorry I don't know you..) Why the hell do you hang around this place so much if you don't like them?
Samma.Wamma Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I don't get any bashing, but since someone else mentioned how they always like to compliment anyone with a Green Day shirt, I have a story for ya! I was at an amusement park, right? And I was with two of my pals and as we were walking, i see some chick with a Kerplunk shirt. As much as I wanted to go right up to her and say "Nice shirt!" I just let her pass me by. I regretted it SO MUCH! It really overwhelmed me. So then later in the day, after carefully looking over everyone's shirt to find a fan, this dude passes with an American Idiot shirt. So right as he passes, I get cold feet, and let the moment pass. No more Green Day shirts after that.. i still get worked up about that

Lololol. First of all, Mall, it's Biba, not Bib. I'm not a piece of fucking cloth that you tie around your neck to keep food from getting on your shirt. Second, I think I've quoted Buffy while debating...once, maybe twice? In any case, certainly not "most all" of my comebacks are from the show. Really? (sorry I don't know you..) Why the hell do you hang around this place so much if you don't like them? Never said I didn't like them. I still like some of their music, I just...can't really call myself a fan anymore. I stick around because a few of my friends are here, and I still like to participate in discussions and stuff.

Shaekwon Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Haven't really met any besides my bro. But it's not cause it's Green Day, he doesn't care for too much of rock period.
BreakdownBrit Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I've been a fan now for such a long time, the Green Day haters no longer wind me up in any way. I've had people telling me they are shit, people putting me down, people saying bad stuff about them and I just shrug it off and give them the same old FOD look everytime. People who bash you or even beat you up for liking Green Day, they are so immature. All the proof you need that Green Day are amazing is right here on this website, I haven't met or chatted with a person yet who has been mean, or nasty or belittled me. Infact I've gone far enough to say that they are my GDC brothers and sisters. When we stand together this strong, then fuck the rest of them, fuck the haters...for every one hater there are 10 GDC's who are ready to kick your ass. And why? Coz we look after our own! I've said this before to many people who have been picked on for the fact they copy Green Days dress style or wear a Green Day t-shirt or whatever, as I do myself: "Don't let anyone give you shit because of the way you look or dress. You have the support of every fucking Green Day fan out there and we don't give a shit what you look like. You have the moral support of a good fan community and a fucking awesome band, because I know for a fact that Billie, Mike and Tre wouldn't want you to go changing the way you act, look and dress just because some narrow minded little shit took the piss out of you or even hurt you. Hold your head up high, this is the real you and you are comfortuble with who you are and there is nothing that could make you more proud of yourself than that!" I'm waiting for the reaction when I get my Green Day tattoo...my God I have words for the haters then...
BreakdownBrit Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 They aren't your family, they're your favourite band. If someone else doesn't like them that doesn't give you the right to be angry. LOL okay this is your opinion, but on a number of occations I have seen the guys as brothers, in fact I'm gonna tell you one of the times and see if you still think it's stupid. I was 14 years old and I was home alone for 2 weeks due to the fact my mother was in hospital having major surgery for cancer. I have no other family in the local area and I sure as hell couldn't afford the trip from here to Manchester and back anyway. I used to go to sleep night after night, listening to Green Day and looking up at their posters above my bed. I didn't know if my mum was going to even make it, and I really had no one to confide in, so I used to talk to them, spill everything out at night so I could actually sleep and get up the next day to go to school and get my head kicked in by the bullies. For 2 whole weeks I felt thankful that I had something there that resembled a family for me, an odd family, but a family none the less. And I know it seems silly, but when I really needed someone to be there they were...and they didn't even have to say a fucking word.

BreakdownBrit Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I believe you just contradicted yourself, darling. And what do you care really? Must you continue to troll on a website for a band you no longer hold in reguard? Quite frankly I find the ones who like to troll immature and rather dim witted... Shoot me for making a mistake here's the info, we are a close community and by the earlier posts I've seen on this thread you are really beginning to get on peoples nerves. Now I'm not telling you to keep your mouth shut, everyone has a right to their own opinion, however could you please stop mithering the people who are here just to talk? I put my post up here for the hell of it, to voice my opinion, I was not expecting to be trolled back...and being patronising is not big or clever and I am definately NOT a "darling" Good Lord you are 15, show a little of your age!

Oh, you think I'm a troll. That's cute. No, dear, I signed up when I was a fan, and I'm staying because some of my friends are still here, and I like participating in discussions. If I were really a troll, I'd just be saying "GREENDAY SUX" or something to that effect in every thread. I should have known you'd think I was being patronizing...no, I call everybody pet names, regardless of how long I've known them or if I even like them or not. It's like a tic, it's just my thing. It's not meant as an insult, so I'm sorry if you took it as such. And "darling" is actually a compliment, hun. I was just posting out that those two parts of your post were contradicting each other, that's all. No need to get your panties in a twist. And, just saying, most 15-year-olds I've encountered are far, far, far more immature than I am.

You're not a piece of cloth one ties 'round their neck to keep their shirt clean; I'm not a shopping centre; These really aren't the points here, Bib. The point is that you're getting on loads of members' nerves with your so-called 'discussion participation'. And just so you're aware, this 'participation' makes you look like a total tryhard. FYI? You're not English, love. You're not part of the Scoobies. You don't live in the Whendonverse. So please, drop the Giles and/or Spike act and grow the fuck up. If you can't manage to do even this, then please, just stop posting in total. Us Green Day fans will be a lot happier without you around --- Promise! And what do you care really? mallorymaloney Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Now, back to the topic at hand! This isn't exactly a story about a Green Day hater, per se, but I found it kinda amusing and decided to share. I was talking with this random girl I met recently, and we got to talking about our favourite bands. When I mentioned that Green Day were my number one, and had been for years, she gave me this completely flabbergasted look. 'What?! Really?! I never would've guessed that such a light sounding band would be your fave --- Since you dress so goth and all.' This made me laugh, because I'm most certainly not goth ... And I don't really dress in goth attire, either, at least not in my opinion. I mean, it's all good, I wasn't terribly offended or anything, but I found it funny. I also found it funny that she thought I should instead be listening to, and I quote, 'Marilyn Manson'. This also amused me a bit, because MM isn't goth, either! I didn't even try explaining that one, though, haha.

Hermione Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 As well as Green Day haters, there's also plenty of Green Day fans who are haters out there. At the Wembley show in the queue for the toilet a girl looked over at my sister and said to her friend "look at that chav", (LOL!) presumably just because she wasn't wearing a band t-shirt and converse like everyone else. We both got looked up and down disapprovingly that day by childish teenagers who think you have to dress a certain way to be a Green Day fan. Quite hilarious that people who think they're so individual and alternative (even though they're dressed exactly the same as all their friends) will look down on anyone who doesn't dress the exact same way as them . I suppose it's just a teenage thing though, hopefully most of them will grow out of it one day.

I absolutely HATE when people think they're being individual by being exactly the same as thousands of other people. I don't know why it bothers me so much but I just want them to wake up and realise how ridiculous they are.
