Green Day Haters / people bashing you for being a Green Day fan?

IMO the fans who stick around regardless of how popular the band's albums turn out to be are the cool ones.

The people who just liked Green Day when they had super popular albums didn't actually like Green Day. They just like being super popular, so they therefore pretend to have an interest in super popular products, movies, books, bands...

What about people who became fans during the Dookie or AI eras, but don't give a rat's ass about being popular? Because I first got into Green Day in about 2005, but I honestly don't care about the people who bash me for liking Green Day. I like what I like, and to hell with the naysayers.

^ I got into GD during the AI era as well, and I'm the same way.

I was just talking about those who liked Green Day for the year their album was popular, then never spoke of them again. I know tons of people at my school who liked them just because it was popular music at the time, but didn't stick around to see what they did next. Actually - I think I'm the only one at my school who DID stick around, lol. Doesn't bother me, though. I love Green Day and can't stand what most kids my age are listening to at the minute, so I really couldn't care less whether or not the music I listen to is "in".

Are you on about those people on the GDA comments lately? They really annoy me too, I think it's so frustrating because they claim to be fans but yet all they do is complain about the band. I mean, if their that fickle that they can let somthing like a comment in one article that they can't even interpert properly, then well, I wonder how much they were a fan to begin with? That's why I'm so glad we have GDC, everybody's a lot less irritating. Sorry, I just had to vent...

Ugh, I hear you. I don't get y they come on a fan site just to criticize the band. If they say they aren't fans anymore y come here. People shouldn't let some insult stop them from liking a band. If they were real fans they wouldn't quit for something so dumb. Those people, the people who bash Adrienne, and the guys who kept saying Green Day shows were like Disney irritate me the most. The GDA comments r pretty much a battle zone now between those who criticize the band and those trying to defend the band and people in the middle. I also prefer it here, everybody's cool, less annoying. OK rant done

i think what she was trying to say is that it's annoying when people get into green day just because they're popular, and then leave them when it's no longer the popular thing to like them. basically just going with the fads. haha, does that make any sense?

Maybe they're trolls that are too dumb to figure out how to register to the message board, so they just say bad things in the comments section.

EDIT: Ugh, just read some of the comments. How disgusting. WTF is with the "hating Billie because he has a family" thing? Him having a wife and kids is not a new development, lol. My favorite comment (sarcasm) was when a guy said "Girls don't love Billie because he's a family man, they love him because he's the bad boy of rock n roll".

That was LOL worthy to me. The "bad boy" thing is something many girls find attractive. Agree with him there. However - him being a good person (good dad, good husband) and an amazing musician are the things that are FAR more fascinating and likable about him, at least to me. If he were just another rockstar who banged a different chick every night, guess what - he wouldn't be him. That's NEVER been him, and that's not what people who know or care about him at all would want for him.

Yeah exactly! The most frustrating thing is that they all keep writing these eassy's about how they don't like whatever and then someone else comes on and repeats practically word for word what the first person already said. It's so annoying! I mean their entitled to their opinion, but they don't have to post it a million times. And I don't know why they always feel the need to bring Adrienne into everything and claim that she's jealous of the female fans. I mean, nobody seems to have a problem with her except for those people on GDA.

I think that people often 'bash' you for being a Green Day fan just because of the fact that your very into the band. I don't think their insults are necssarily meant to be directed to the actual band as they don't care that much to mean the insults

About 6 months ago, this moderator was being a total asshole to me on a forum and was having a massive go at me for being a Green Day fan. I would copy exactly what she posted but my IP address has been banned so I can't go on that site anymore lol, but the one thing that stuck with me was:

"You can hope, wish and pray all you want, but Billie Joe will never make any acknowledgment of your existence."

I wasn't gonna lie down and take her shit so of course I snapped back and ended up getting my account banned.

So anyway as soon as I got back from the GD shows I went to in December, I went back on the forum, made a spam account on it and sent her a private message saying;

"Hey remember me? You should. I seem to recall you saying this too me a little while ago [insert quote of what she'd said]

Well I thought you should watch this..." and I gave her the link to the video of Billie Joe demanding my devil horns during one the shows. Under that I posted a link to a picture and wrote "Oh and you see this? It's called a pick. Given to me by Mike Dirnt. UP YOURS YOU UGLY C*NT!!!!"

God I felt so good afterwards... it was totally worth getting IP banned for.

Most of my friends are Green Day fans (or can at least tolerate them), so it's usually fine for me. If someone tells me they're gay though, I just grin and say "No, they're bisexual!" and get some weird looks.

And yes, those people on the GDA were seriously starting to get on my nerves. Was it really necessary to create all those aliases (I'm still convinced that the amount of people was far less than they made it seem) in order to repeat the same garbage over and over?

At one point though, the replies to me saying I had a mental picture of Billie Joe and Adie opening Christmas presents with their kids were making me laugh. Really, saying that that was beyond disturbing and that I needed mental help because that is not normal? Yeah, it wasn't THAT weird lol.

today i got into a huuuuge fight because i like Green Day. this one kid kept on saying Green Day suck so i just told him to shut the fuck up. he continued to say that and eventually i just said "Well what band doesnt fuckin suck!?" he replyed "Incubus" i asked him if he knew any of there songs and he said "No, but they are better than Green Day" well, after about 30 minutes of pretty much the same fight, i told him to fuck off and i walked away and talked to my other friend who kinda likes Green Day. we talked for about 10 minutes and then the kid came back with his friends. i started walking away when they came near me. one of them pushed me to the ground and then i got up and started walking away. when i was walking behind the kid that was bugging me he pretty much launched back his foot and kicked me in the stomach. all of this because i like Green Day.
