ParadoxAndPlaid Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 This annoying kid always bashes on me about having 'bad musical taste' and claims "the only thing kate listens to is GreenDay and they have no talent" which bugs me to no end, because he does not know me well enough to make any commentary like that. PLUS his other obnoxious music-elitist friends bug me about it. I'll be on a completely different topic (not even music related!) and they'll be like "You like GreenDay and they suck hahaha" Anyways, the other day he asks to borrow my ipod to listen to The Doors in class because he was bored. so I just looked at him and said "Funny how I suddenly have good taste when you need a favor, huh?"
Mar Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Wow, that group is...I always love when people actually think they insulted something super hard by calling it "gay".That group is SO Emma and Julia.
g l o r i a Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 If I got a dollar everytime some asshole said "Green Day sucks" to me, I'd be filthy fucking rich.Money would be coming out of every fucking hole on my body. I hate it though, when people who listen to fucking screamo shit or rap or whatever is on the fucking radio tell me that green day are sell outs, and generic and not original.Excuse me? Absolutely everything you listen to is the same. All they're about is: Money, cars, drugs, girls, sex, death, and guns.AND MOST OF THEM DON'T EVEN WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC AND ARE UNDER THE AGE OF WHAT, 25? Come on now atleast if you're going to make fun of Green Day, do research. They've been around for so fucking long, rocked so many fucking faces and they deserve all the respect in the world. What do you get from telling me they suck? Can you honestly tell me that you cum in your pants when you tell me that green day sucks?I think that the last thing this world needs is a bunch of angry Green Day fans.
fletcher-999 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I had this really... intresting argument with someone the other day, this person claimed that in the future Green Day would Die out as House Music is the way forward.. so he claimed..... But I pointed out to him that it's about moving with the times and with their current success i'd say Green Day will be around in the future.. Not to mention the fact that he assumed that all Green day fans were Goths that really annoyed me, so I told him that's the sterotypical image that motivates Green Day to keep going knowing there is people out there who would think that, motivate them to do well and to push further, i'm not saying they will try to make everyone like them but rather be motivated by their Fans and ignore the rest.. make music for the fans and for the love the industry.. No disrespect to House Music but Green Day is the real deal
heartscollide Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 One of my friends on facebook was telling me Green Day are too old and need to retire. :down:I said something about the Rollinh Stones, and she just got pwned.

Li Sa Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I never got bad reactions most of my friends are saying "heard a few songs they're not bad" I think the only thing that counts if YOU like their music an dthat you can relate to it I for example love their text as much as their melodies bust most Non-real fans don't care about the text So just don't care about others opinions  PS: sometimes I just talk so long about GD history about them that thy start liking them one of my friends starts listening to them too now. PPS: sometimes they just run away because i talked them dead and they're not saying anything bad about GD when I#m near them because they're afraid I start talking and arguing again
Guest FlirtyDutherMucker Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 The ones who do have the greatest music tastes in the world, blatantly.
languagenerd Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I hate that people assume GD are another pop-punk band. They have so many albums that touch on so many genres. People in university have said to me "I hate Green Day, they're really boring" - what the hell?? I don't know any other band with such varied songs or who put on such a brilliantly exciting live show! Another thing - people who have been GD fans for years giving out about anyone who started listening because of American Idiot and calling them posers. If someone goes to the trouble of getting the entire back catalogue, listens, likes it, goes to the shows - then they're not a poser, no matter when they started listening. I can understand being annoyed by the people who think AI was the first GD album and claim to be huge fans without listening to anything else, but that's a whole other kettle of fish! *rant over*
PansyStrychnine Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 My best friend bashes all the music I like and she used to change the words from KYE to "We're a mediocre band!" whenever it came on the radio, but since she knows my dad's getting me tickets for Manchester 2010 she's all "Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Green Day you should get me in on that shit!" She needs to learn that A) Different people like different music, get over it. B) if you don't like something it doesn't mean it's shit. C) Why would I take someone who 'didn't mind' seeing them when I could take one of my other friends who really wants to go and actually listens to them?! Friends can be strange sometimes

Yeah, I got into them via AI, but I recognized even before I was a fan that they influenced SO many pop-punk bands before I began listening to that genre. They aren't a rip-off at all, in fact, they kind of paved the way for these other bands, and it just so happens that they've managed to stay relevant while there's a million others coming into and fading out of the spotlight.
Moxy Crimefighter Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 The other week my extreamist vegan friend rnted to me about how "Green day are NOt punk, are only in it for the money and aren't 'real"" She ranted to me, whilst surrounded by a bunch of our friends. Now at my school it is common knowledge that I'm the Green day go-to-Girl and that I made sure everybody was informed of their background etc. etc. Afeter her rant and when she left. (I have been quiet the whole time, humoring the poor girl) everybody burst out laughing. Because we all knew that it was completely pointles of her to argue about Green day and who they are with somebody who has pictures of Billies house.
mezzer41 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I've never really had much abuse for being a fan, but I did once get some guy accusing me of not being a real fan. I was coming out of a club and I was wearing a Warning t-shirt and he started telling me I'd only liked them since American Idiot and asking me what my favourite song was. When I told him it was 86 (which it was then, but I don't think I have a favourite anymore) and I'd been a fan for about four years at that point he soon shut up. Other than that my brother tells me every so often that they're shit, but he only does it to try and wind me up so it doesn't really work. He was the one who got me into them in the first place.
Psycho Britney Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I know this is a bit random but when I was in town today I saw a dude in a FBH t-shirt, and then these two women who were friends-one had sewn a GD patch on her jacket and the other had got a 21st CB bag! I thought that was cool, I love seeing people in GD shirts and stuff-it made me want to go up to them and talk but I wouldn't cos I'd look/feel silly!
novacaine_kid Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I need more friends who are into GD. I feel like I can't talk about them or the concerts I'm going to at all now, cause I just get laughed at. When one of them found out I was going to Paris next summer to see them, she said it was "too obsessive". Idiots.

I just get mocked most of the time but I'm hoping my friend will realise how amazing they are when she sees them live with me.
Guest ☼ Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 My sophomore year I sat next to a kid who would literally bark at me like a dog because he knew that I was a Green Day fan. It was super strange.
Tubbie Head Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 i have a prime example of why i have been bashed as a green day fan for 4 years. a couple days ago, some 'fan' on youtube managed to comment on my defaultWierdo: "wow hahaha ur icon lukz lyk billie havin an orgasim hahaha sexi!!!"Me: "hah actually it's billie in Pinhead Gunpowder close up, playing guitar. but yes, it is quite nice."Wierdo: "o thanx 4 da info =) billie is ALWAYZ HAWTTT!!! hehehe! sum tard 1x sed he lukz lyk a freak w/ blond hair, but i think billie lukd HAWTTT w/ blond hair hahaha!!! ;D" i didn't think anyone ever actually talked like that, i thought it was just an over-exaggeration of teenies. all i can say is....wow. people like her give us a bad name, i can't stand those type.OMGNo comments, really... I always thought to myself that Green Day fans are the best fans ever.. But, sometimes, I just want to slap myself thinking that there are actually people like that from the "mtv generation" who call themselfs fans.. It just breaks my heart xD oh well...All I can do is ignore them, but it is really hard!

Idiots.Fuck that!To me personally, any true friend would at least respect your love for Green Day.Make friends online! (You probably already have haha, and probably mean friends in person) but I mainly talk to my friends on the internet about Green Day related stuff!

Vespertine Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 They called me emo Friday at school. But I don't give a shit about it. I love Green Day and they have NOTHING to do with it. Fuck them.
