Oh, you mean the radio show you annihilated with your Snoo and Fink comments?

I stand corrected, most of my friends share the same messed up idea too though

Yeah, mine are split half and half. Either they LOVE them, or they think they suck and stop at nothing to make sure I know that. I'm like, you realize just because you don't like them it doesn't hurt me or my love for them right? Evidently they don't though.

Somehow it seems to be okay for people to get all excited about seeing artists like Britney Spears and Taylor Swift and whatnot, but when it comes down to Green Day most people who aren't a huge fan will just be hateful and judgmental about it. I bet if I said something on facebook like 'so excited about seeing Green Day' I'll get comments like 'ew there's better bands' or some shit like that.

Whatever. Just pisses me off even though I probably shouldn't care.

Seriously! Britney Spears had a concert here about a month after Green Day. SO many people were excited for it. You'd ask kids from school what they were doing over the summer and they said they were attending the Britney show and they were all so excited. Then they would ask me what i was doing so i would tell them i was going to see Green Day and they were like "they're still around"? Someone even said to me "They were so 2005". A lot of people think Green Day is like a phase, i just dont get it!

^Ah, yeah, I get that a lot. About how they are old, and so '04-'05. "You need to listen to something else, Sarah. Something new." People act like they are 100 years old! I just don't understand it. I listen to songs from forever ago; '04 is what the consider a long time? That's insane! Like, people say songs like 'Umbrella' by Rhianna are old. Like...no.

Today, my friend was like, "Are you still into Green Day?" And I just told her I liked them, like...a month ago? I guess she thought it was a phase or something. I was just like, "Yeah. I have been for 6 years." And she was like, "...Oh. Meh."

People ALWAYS got on my case for liking them. In 5th grade, I got it pretty bad. I'd wear a GD shirt, and everytime I would, I'd get the 'Gay Day' or 'Green Gay.' How clever. And when I graduated middle school, a few people wrote 'Green Day sucks' on my class shirt instead of signing their name, so I'll always have that as a reminder.

People can just be so stupid about it. I seriously don't get it. Now, I just shrug it off. Go listen to the stupid fucking shit you call music and don't like Green Day. More for me.

Wow! Nothing like that ever happened to me in school...........

I seriously don't remember any snide remarks from people about liking Green Day.....well....actually, I remember just one boy in my middle school made remarks about how Green Day sucked and stuff.

Doesn't matter though. He was

always a douche bag.....

But that's about it though. I saw like......maybe three or four people wearing GD shirts in middle school, and I saw a few this year wearing 21st Century Breakdown shirts....probably like 2-3 people.

AH! I totally forgot about this until Sarahnade mentioned people thinking they're like 100 years old. When they were playing at the VMA's one of my friends saw the crowd pick Billie up and him "crowd surfing" (if you could really call it that, lmao) and she posted on facebook...wait, let me find it so it can be verbatim....ok she posted this:

"seriously old men should not be crowd surfing, he could have broken a hip."

I did take the time to oh-so-nicely point out that he's not even 40. And then she gave me some bullshit about how every Green Day song is "the same background music but with somewhat different words."

how absolutely mistaken she is.

My friends are quite supportive of my love of the band. We're in college now, and they text me from wherever they are if they hear a GD song!

My roomie is always like, "This song is beautiful! Is this Green Day?"

I've gotten some animosity, but never from my friends, just shite, jealous people.

Tell me about it. I just checked my facebook and one of my cousins who is a huge Britney fan just saw her last night. She was like 'OMG Britney is the best ever I don't care what anyone says'. Apparently it's really cool to lip synch now and Green Day are behind the trend. Weird thing is she's coming to see Green Day with me next month, I wonder how that will go down.

I'm lucky none of best friends talk shit about them though and they don't care if I'm a fan.

I could never have close friends who didn't love Green Day. I dunno...that just wouldn't work. :P

Wring indeed. I mean like a phase gahh! I hate that word. I mean so what if some people became fans in '04...I pretty much did and I still here and I know this is not a phase. What a douche...

My dad keeps hoping that I won't spazz out everytime I see something GD related or anything else I fan girl over. But it keeps me young! and if you like it damn well like it!

:( People are cruel. A lot of people that I know love their old stuff, but when it comes to AI or 21CB they just say it's way to different compared to old GD. I can totally see a common thread through all their albums, but people who have only heard singles from Dookie then singles from AI wouldn't see it.

One of my old friends mentioned that she heard the beginning of 21CB album when it first came out, but couldn't listen to the whole album. That's how much she hated it. My expression the whole time was: :o

The thing is people like that can't accept change.

Bands evolve all the time y'know?

She could have at least given it a chance....

When I started listening to Green Day there was this huge American Idiot hype and suddenly, everyone wanted to be a punk. So they were all like "You listen to Green Day? You think you're such a hardcore punk, don't ya?" Some months later when they all listened to Hip Hop and whatever again, they were like "You still listen to Green Day?" Meh, that's not cool anymore"

Today I'd laugh about it, but back then I was like 14, so I worried about it quite a lot.

Luckily, we've all grown up, so when I talk about how much I love Green Day today and that I wanna fly to London to see them live, my friends think I'm crazy, but they also think that it's awesome that I still love the guys so much. :)

I'm the only one! I'm happy to be unique though, my bf likes them but prefers MCR. But I'm ok with that because she hates the bands I hate

I get that a lot. And also people saying "what are you listening to? Oh, Green Day, nevermind." or "Green Day again?"

stfu and gtfo my iPod

i know righ'! the story is at that party, i met and immediately became friends with these 2 people who hates the music played so we left the lounge and went back 2 my room for some real music, and after several shots we decided it was funny 2 put on some of their trashy music to dance around and make fun of it and one of the girls upstairs walked in on us listening 2 jay-z and she was all "y u all left and stayed in ur room listening 2 the same music we been playing 4 hours upstairs?' so i guess she thinks im in 2 the shitty music now...

My friends told me I should warn them when I want to rant about the GD concerts I went to so they can decide whether they want to listen to me or not.

im glad my friends don't make fun of me for liking green day i mean not that i now of  i brought green day into my friends life and she is in love with them now lol. seriously before i met her, the only GD song she new was american idiot lol. now she is a GD freak and is in love with tre and thinx billie is hott and mike is adorable

My friend asked me to bring Green Day Cds to listen to tonight because she wants to get excited for the concert.

I love her now. Hopefully she will transform into a wonderful GD fan.

I'm starting to think I need to invest in some friends like that.

Really?! God, if I said that I'd have no friends at all. Only one of them likes Green Day and she doesn't even like them half as much as I do

You know when you aren't worthy of being a Green Day fan? When you totally mis-interpret what they stand for and forget that you are supposed to be an individal.

It's not post-American Idiot fans that annoy me, it's anyone that forgets what individualism is, and forget what Billie Joe and Green Day as a whole I guess have been writing about for so many years. You shouldn't care what people think about you, wether you're wearing a Britney Spears, Sex Pistoles, Toby Keith, or Green Day shirt. You shouldn't wake up in the morning hoping to impress anyone. And if someone is going to be a dick toward you for anything you wear, or for anything at all and that makes you upset, then you've failed all on your own. If someone calls you a groupie or emo and that pisses you off, then maybe you deserve to be made fun of.

You basically kinda just put into words one of the main things that Green Day has taught me

People who have given me shit in the past, learned just to fuck off because they learned that

1. I didn't care.

and

2. I wasn't going to change because of their silly remarks.

:bunny:

Really?! God, if I said that I'd have no friends at all. Only one of them likes Green Day and she doesn't even like them half as much as I do

I have friends that aren't Green Day fans, my boyfriend isn't a Green Day fan... although he likes some of their earlier music, it doesn't bother me though...

Just people who would go about constantly critisizing me and or Green Day, to try and get an argument or something out of me... I have no time for people like that.

yeah, the haters should really fuck off.
