I'm sick of people saying bad stuff about me liking Green Day, but I know they're missing out, not me, and if I've listened to any message in their songs it's to ignore people like that - it's my life not theirs.

Apparently it's so interesting that I dyed my hair green for the gig, that it's been spread around school. They must have such boring lives that I'm the only gossip they've got. Total strangers are asking me whether it's true or not and then laughing in my face. Like who cares? My life, there's the door, now get out! :mad:

Last night, one of the lads in work was like "I just feel so embarrassed for you right now"....because I went to 4 shows in 10 days. I was there thinking "It's mad how you'll never, ever feel really passionate about anything in the world. I would absolutely hate to be you."

Yeah, to not feel passionate about anything...I just don't understand that. Everything to them is just "Oh yeah, that's cool" but nothing more. Ugh, I just can't imagine myself having any sort of enjoyment from a life like that.

Well, i'll tell you my story.

I had a best friend a couple of months ago, and she always harshly criticized me for the fact that i liked Green Day :dry: ... Anyways, i had a crush on this guy that was her best friend and she was supposed to help me with him and all, but all she kept saying when i listened to a Green Day song was like "Oh, God... what it'd be when he finds out that you like Green Day, that band pretty much sucks, and they do playback" and she kept on and on with bullshit like that. I hated she bashing my favorite group in the world, you know?

Now we're not friends anymore, she was sort of bitchy and pretty much a manipulative girl. Thank God im not her friend anymore! :D

So, to sum up, I hate that kind of people. :pinch:

i've had it a lot. A lot a lot. and i know it sounds so cliche but the trick is to ignore the people, as much as you want to shout back or say something back. That's what they want, the fuckers. Ignore them :D Its their loss for not being so into the best band in the world!

Ignorant people will say they hate green day and not appreciate what a good band they are, especially live. I have up most respect for people who aren't necessarily fans, but can appreciate what an awesome live band they are and what an amazing show they put on.

Ok my brother is an abosulte anti- green day person. Full on, no joke, hates green day 100%

According to him they are the scum of the earth and deserve to die. They are pathetic and their music is just rah rah rah and repetive.

AND. The most outrageous statement he has ever made, it made me speechless:

JESUS OF SURBURBIA IS A CRAP SONG, WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT HAS MEANING? IT HAS NO MEANING AT ALL, ITS MEANINGLESS CRAP. JUST LIKE GREEN DAY!

yeah i couldnt find words to reply to that, i just walked away more amazed than ever at his stupidity

also, he really ruins his 'green day deserves to die' campaign with comments like these:

Anyway, throughout the rest of the day, people (that I knew, or that'd be creepy) kept on coming up to me and asking to read the article. Stupid kid. :D

people that do not respect different points of view or tastes, whatever sort they may be, and make fun of someone who is not just like them, are utterly pitiful to me. okay, you don't have to like what I do like, but please, shut the hell up then and don't comment. what is beautiful about being a person is to have your own personality, and to have your passions as well.

speaking of this, the funny thing is that I'm actually working at the university, and I already acquired that "GD-emo-rebel" label, being sometimes dismissed with a "she's a rebel" phrase... (hey, they even don't know their quoting GD! LOL) ... but I really don't care, I love this kind of music, I am a neat freak when I'm at the show, and although I love GD for their music in the first place, I still think that BJ's eyeliner is incredibly HOT :wink:

and hey, I pinned some GD pics from the gig I've been to on my notice board in the office, so what?! at least when I get to the office it always makes me feel better :bunny: and that's what counts - not what the other think or eventually say about it.

I used to get it a lot when I was in secondary school. I was 15 when American Idiot came out and I was wearing a Green Day rubber bracelet from whateverittakes.com - I'm wearing it now as it goes. This guy in my Maths class noticed it and was he was like "Dude, Green Day suck cock". I could've let it slip, called him some awful names and whatever else. Instead, I said; "You're just jealous that they won't go anywhere near yours." and left it at that.

Turns out, five years later, he's since listened to the album and actually likes Green Day.

Yeah, it doesn't make a sense. I mean why won't they tell it about U2, Rolling Stones or Metallica? Everyone gets old and I think it's so cool when band gets old and still plays the best in the world :D.
