Rezurgam Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I don't think I've really ever gotten shit for liking Green Day but one time I said my favorite band is Green Day and this girl said said that Green Day's old and they should retire and my friend agreed. We got into a small argument but nothing big happened. A couple weeks later, I took that friend who agreed with her to the Fox Theater show and now he loves Green Day. I think that I was never really made fun of for liking Green Day because: 1. Most people probably don't think I listen to Green Day, 2. They know it's all based on musical preference, and/or 3. They know I like to argue and I always win if I feel that strongly about it.

As I said on a few other occasions, the AI image really spelled sell out to older fans, and to a certain extent, myself. I still think to this day, that that image was more the labels doing than GD's, and GD probably just went along with it to possibly get out of the commercial flop they were in pre AI. And hey, it worked. A bunch of teenyboppers love the band now. But people who hate bands like MCR will blindly hate GD for the same reasons. Not even based on the music, just the image alone.They REALLY need to drop the guyliner and shit. If they can't sell their music based on just their music, then maybe they do belong on an Independent label again...

So, yeah there's no problem with that. But when people tell me I do suck because I listen to a band they don't like, that's totally idiotic. You can't scale somebody's smartness or kindness or whatever down just because such a little factor. But most of the time I don't argue with those persons because they are not worth it anyway.

But once he actually said that Basket Case is a good song, and started singing it So I think it's more about Boulevard of Broken Dreams and stuff like that. He tries to make me like Kiss.Other people just get very confused when I tell them I like GD. They're like "oh.... well...... i've heard wake me up when september ends. and... ummm.... i like it." But they're not against GD.

Many of them like green day, although their older material.While they don't like their newer work, they understand how I, as a die hard fan could.

She claims that they don't sing but 'yell'. and she's like "hey look at me i'm billie joe im gonna dye my hair purple!" ... uh whaat?she's a moron. i hate how she disses them just because they are of the 'punk rock genre'. i hate her sometimes.
