You can't force someone to have the same musical taste as you. There's a lot of bands I think are rubbish, and people are entitled to think Green Day's rubbish too. A lot of people here would save themselves some stress if they stopped worrying about other people's opinions and perceptions of the band - unless you're a member of Green Day, who cares? The only time to be offended is if some idiot makes fun of you personally for liking them.

I have like a Green Day bag and all I get is sniggers and "Green day is well gay" so i just say, "learn to speak properly" haha. Seriously they insult my music taste yet they cant even talk properly, how petty some people are. I usually tell them that their favourite band/artist is gay, it's always funny watching the reaction. Oh and its even funnier if you say "so's your mom". I <3 Green Day and I am totally loyal and i hate it when people say to me "why do you like them, they arent even famous anymore?" I'm like WTF?! I dont like them cos i fancy them, i like them because their music is amazing and I couldnt care whether they were big and famous or still a small band from Berkely. They are amazing. :)

I've been a fan for about 6 years, so I was a lot younger when I first got into them... I was so agro then lol. I'd flip out at anyone who insulted them. It just seems so pointless now. It still annoys me, I just can't be arsed to try and convince stupid fucks how brilliant GD are. It's their problem since they're missing out (:

I don't see anything wrong with saying you hate a band if you hate them, and if someone expected me to pussyfoot around some band just because they happened to like them, it would irritate me. But of course anyone who's moronic enough to make fun of someone for liking Green Day or any other music is totally out of order and deserves to be bitched about. I'll happily bitch about one of these two kinds of hater, but other kind don't deserve it imo

They always called them fake and threw bands like Rancid, NOFX, Black Flag as real punk bands. I remember this one guy saying Rancid would never sell out to a major like Green Day did...kinda funny now I look back since they actually did end up signing with a label.I remember having this white Insomniac shirt and I got into a fight with this one guy and he stepped right on my chest leaving a huge foot print that never went away.....I loved that shirt....These days, I don't really hear any more crap about them...prob cause I'm not in green day. My ex wife hated them though...she still does...but my fiancee has really got into them. She has watched alot of the videos and stuff with me. She said, the more I watch of them, it really makes me like them more.

I'll admit I might think the same way about the AI singles if I've never heard the whole album.AI is a story, and you can't understand it by taking a chapter out of the middle of the book and reading it.You gotta know the whole thing.

This one guy, Matt, who used to be my best friend, but now he's a total asshole, really REALLY hates GD, like, with this burning passion. Of course, I was obsessed with Green Day back then too. So everyday he would call me emo, then go on and on about how emo Green Day (Billie Joe in particular) is, and then he would tell me how much he hated me. I would usually just tell him he's stupid.In fact, I remember one day, he was making fun of my then best friend, Geoff, because he had warts on his hand. Matt said things like that he was a "toad wizard". I then called him immature, because, someone who's supposedly "smarter and more mature than everybody else" (I'm in a gifted and talented program) shouldn't say things like that. Well, then, he says, "Well, you're only saying that because I don't listen to Green Day..." and I cut in with "What the hell does Green Day have to do with anything that just happened?" It was pretty funny to see Matt's reaction when I told Geoff to rub his warts on Matt's arm.

gdkickarse Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Some of my friends majorly take the piss 'cause I LOVE Green Day. I don't know why though I think the music is brilliant. It's somehow different from all the other stuff being played. I've been a fan for ages now and I think they'll always be my favourite band. So, I guess people can continue to laugh at me! What made me laugh most was my friends trying to tell me they were an extremely indie band and likened them to The Kooks and Arctic Monkeys! I mean, wtf?! Apparently eyeliner and skinny jeans is very indie and also 'very gay'. But meh, I just tell piss takers to go f*** themselves to be honest... Green Day's music has helped me through quite a bit and it is just amazing.
