Me: O'RLY? I've had this exactly conversation with 4 persons, others just remember the names.
Juan Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 when i was in eighth grade, my friends and i were a bit of douchebags, and my myspace song always used to be something Green Day. so they'd call me gay and a fag, that sort of thing; i used to try and play it off cool and be like "your girlfriend doesn't miss a meal." or something to that effect. i'd laugh that sort of thing, but looking back they didn't have that great of musical standards either. most of my other friends listen to rap and i'm used to it. it's good stuff to dance to and has a steady beat, whereas most rock songs you really can't dance to. I dance to Misfit Love of Queens of the Stone Age, really good stuff, makes my feet move But, yeah I get your point, but rock is for moshing and Ska is for skanking Rap is more like wave your hands and shake them, sort of thing
Guest Billy Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I dance to Misfit Love of Queens of the Stone Age, really good stuff, makes my feet move But, yeah I get your point, but rock is for moshing and Ska is for skanking Rap is more like wave your hands and shake them, sort of thing ska is danceable; Sublime is one of my favorite bands. rap is more like girls bend over and let me come over.
Juan Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ska is danceable; Sublime is one of my favorite bands. rap is more like girls bend over and let me come over. Yeah, I've done that, not my sort of thing, but when I was in 7th grade I did that a lot I totally took an U-turn music wise
Hermione Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 There's nothing wrong with liking only a couple of songs from a band and not getting into them further. Shit there's loads of acts I only like a few songs by, that doesn't mean I'm not a fan of them, or that bigger fans of them should scoff at me. If someone only likes a couple of Green Day songs, good for them! Everyone's taste is different.
Marlena Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Well, nobody ever bashed me for loving Green Day, but I know a lot of people who don't like GD, just because they have prejudices. There's my mom. She thinks that it's strange that a young girl like me adores a band like Green Day, consisting of "older" men. My friend. She always makes cracks about Green Day. On the other hand, she likes Knowledge, an older song covered by Green Day. This boy in my class. One day I was chatting about Billie with one of my friens, who's also a GD fan, and this boy said: "Billie Joe? Who's that? Billie Joe... Ah, I know! No. Who's he?" And my friend said: "Billie Joe from Green Day." And the boy: "Oh, Green Day... That Billie Joe. He's a damned faggot." Another conversation: My friend and me chatted about Wake Me Up When September Ends. One of my classmates said: "That's such a boring song." We: "It's not. It's a great GD song." He: I don't like GD anyway. There songs are always so boring..." We: "They are not boring! Just because you don't understand the meaning of their songs, it doesn't mean that they are boring." He: "Well, he's singing all the time that somebody shall wake him up when september ends and that is boring in my opinion." I don't care anymore about what people say, 'cause I love their music.
iLozza! Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 No-one even knew who they were in 04 in my school. No-one in my high school even knows who they are either. They know BOBD and because of that they think they're emo. But that's all they know.
Princess Consuela Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 It's funny how some people perceive Green Day not knowing them at all... ;D
iLozza! Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 It's funny how some people perceive Green Day not knowing them at all... ;D I know. it's usally like "Their bassist look like a zombie" and shit like that. They ought to listen to Dookie, it might change their opinion. I mean, they're not emo at all!
Farah Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 it strikes me that green day is one of those bands that lots of people like and lots of people hate, but there aren't many 'in between-ers', who like some, not all of their songs. alot of the haters like atleast one song even this one guy on yt burning a green day cd said that dookie was the only green day album he liked or sumin and another one saying he just likes wake me up when september ends
DistilledxSpirits Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I hate where I live. No one here likes Green Day. NO ONE. Their name is like mud around here. But then again, most of the people in my school think American Idiot is their only album, so what do they know?
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 i agree with all these people. green day suck so much they are emo sellouts that deserve to die, all because they kept us waiting for the album
minorityxdisturbed Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I hate where I live. No one here likes Green Day. NO ONE. Their name is like mud around here. But then again, most of the people in my school think American Idiot is their only album, so what do they know? The same here, nobody likes Green Day, they knew only AI album, and I hate them so much, and some people say they are emo, and I say, they aren't emo, they don't talk about loneliness, suicide, love which has made you pain, blood and thinks like that, they talk about things that you must hear to learn and maybe your brain will be a little smartest or you can be at least as smart as homer simpson, I hate that people, they criticize Green Day becouse they haven't got nothing better to do or just to think, if they cuold hear some songs of them they will realice that they are doing a great job, maybe they can like them but they'll be respect them
Guest Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 people critisize me for liking GD coz they're all male what has that got to do with anything????
chickin'pickin' Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 To be honest, if I only knew about American Idiot...I wouldn't be a Green Day fan.
iLozza! Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 To be honest, if I only knew about American Idiot...I wouldn't be a Green Day fan. Amen to that.
Guest Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 To be honest, if I only knew about American Idiot...I wouldn't be a Green Day fan. i would it was AI that got me into green day
chickin'pickin' Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Amen to that. Not because i'd only know one album. But because I don't really like American Idiot, it's Green Days weakest album.
iLozza! Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Not because i'd only know one album. But because I don't really like American Idiot, it's Green Days weakest album. I agree with you. I enjoyed their older music. Anything up to Nimrod is their best I think.
Starbug Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I've gotten a lot more positivity regarding Green Day than ever here lately. Girl at the pharmacy knows me because of them now, another kid at another pharmacy (I think there's a pattern.....) and a girl at Chik Fil A They all like them, and all know me because I'm the area walking GD billboard. Which is fine. I could think of a lot worse things people could identify me with.
Spark of Insanity Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ^People only really know me as the "Green Day girl" or the "Girl who hates Kentucky" really. In my school everyone loved Green Day in 04 and 05 but after that they hated them seriously, and they thought that American Idiot was thier only album. I hate where I live. No one here likes Green Day. NO ONE. Their name is like mud around here. But then again, most of the people in my school think American Idiot is their only album, so what do they know? I hate where I live as well. But I am glad that I have a few friends who like Green Day, and one as much as I do.
DistilledxSpirits Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 The same here, nobody likes Green Day, they knew only AI album, and I hate them so much, and some people say they are emo, and I say, they aren't emo, they don't talk about loneliness, suicide, love which has made you pain, blood and thinks like that, they talk about things that you must hear to learn and maybe your brain will be a little smartest or you can be at least as smart as homer simpson, I hate that people, they criticize Green Day becouse they haven't got nothing better to do or just to think, if they cuold hear some songs of them they will realice that they are doing a great job, maybe they can like them but they'll be respect them OMG that whole 'emo' thing really annoys me. I mean yeah some of their songs are really hateful... but it's usually towards other people not themselves. They don't sing about wanting to die or anything! It's all because Billie wears a red tie!!!! I hate where I live as well. But I am glad that I have a few friends who like Green Day, and one as much as I do. Haha I have one friend who like Green Day. And another one that wants to rape Billie. That's it. They're all into 'screamo' music instead. BUT I did manage to convince some of my mates to come to see GD with me if they ever come back to Australia. i promised them it would be the best concert of their life.
minorityxdisturbed Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 OMG that whole 'emo' thing really annoys me. I mean yeah some of their songs are really hateful... but it's usually towards other people not themselves. They don't sing about wanting to die or anything! It's all because Billie wears a red tie!!!! Yeah I hate that people it's like they think that they are the most important thing in the world and everybody must know what they're living... And for the tie one person in my class says: -he is emo, he's wearing a pink tie -You are a colour-bind or what? that's red! -he wears eyeliner -And your mom too and she isn't emo Someday I'll cut his testicles and he will eat them...
Yellow Felony Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 We: "They are not boring! Just because you don't understand the meaning of their songs, it doesn't mean that they are boring." He: "Well, he's singing all the time that somebody shall wake him up when september ends and that is boring in my opinion." I hope you told him the real meaning of that song? The fact that it was about the death of Billie Joe's dad when he was ten and not about fuckin waking up on September and whatever... pisses me off (meaning what the loser kid said to you).
St. Matt Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Wow... it happened so many times... If there's one thing I learned it's that people are stupid, at least where I live. And they can live they're own miserable life listening to music that doesn't mean anything. People ask my why I don't listen to hip hop in the classroom and all I want to do is punch them in the face. But this whole thing is the point of minority I guess, just do what you like and don't be afraid to be different. So I don't care~
