Splotnik3 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 idiots at my school would give me shit about it all the time but i didnt expect them to like anything i like. most of them were close minded rap loving idiots who never even listened to punk, metal or anything that wasnt rap. i have listened to rap and i think its shit. so i've given it a chance and they dont give anything a chance so that made me feel better. at college, people think Green Day suck, but im friends with the whole class so no one brings it up.
Bookworm Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 in my school only few people listen to green day..... and there are only two fans...me and one guy... it's so annoying when someone says that green day is emo.....c'mon people then 70 % bands who wears eyeliner should be emo, that's so stupid....
Nele Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 The girls in my class said I'm emo because I listen to Green Day and wear black. And when they see a kid who slits there wrists or being a "real" emo, they think these guys are "so cool and unique".
rcolley Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 i used to get teased for liking green day wen i was younger but now people have stopped coz they know i dont give a shit in wot they say. if any1 gives u a hard time just ignore them, they get bored after a while. . anyway GREEN DAY FUCKING RULE!!! by the way ive got a bro who hates them, hell 4 me. lol.
Katarina. Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 The girls in my class said I'm emo because I listen to Green Day and wear black. And when they see a kid who slits there wrists or being a "real" emo, they think these guys are "so cool and unique". That's weird.. Lol.. I remembered one day a girl said to me "Are you wearing pink? Wow.. you never wear that." Like I only wear black.. I don't.. pink is my favorite color xD I don't see the link with Green Day and emo anyway.. there just isn't any xDD
gmcloughlin Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I found out yesterday that people are starting to talk about me behind my back about Green Day. One of the math teachers in our school that teaches 7th grade is best friends with my cousin, so she told my cousin that people call me a loser and that i talk about Green Day way too much. I dont talk about them way too much, i would say everyone talks about their type of music TOOOOO MUCH and since basically everyone likes it, they dont think its too much, but since im the only one who likes Green Day, they think its too much. The last times i ever said anything about Green Day in school was about Tre Cool's birthday being that day which was Dec 9th. Ill admit i used to talk about them alot last year, but that was because i wanted a couple of people to like them. Again, the funny thing is i dont talk about Green Day that much and people are just being assholes because i like a certain band. It sucks, they will never hear any other Green day songs other than BOBD, which everyone assumes is an emo song, which makes them think that Green Day are emo. These sad people make me wanna puke For one thing, you cannot talk about Green Day too much
Nele Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 That's weird.. Lol.. I remembered one day a girl said to me "Are you wearing pink? Wow.. you never wear that." Like I only wear black.. I don't.. pink is my favorite color xD I don't see the link with Green Day and emo anyway.. there just isn't any xDD Yeah my classmates are like: Hey it's black. You must love it. That's stupid. They do that with green too, just because the name is Green Day.
rymenocerous Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 One of my friends suddenly doesn't like greenday because they're "too mainstream". They used to be her favourite band. Goodd, this whole individuality-controversial movement has gotten way out of hand. Why hate something just because everyone else likes it?? So she goes on about me not being original and following the crowd, and "oooh look at me I'm being different and unique unlike you." Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who are "unique" as such, but not when they pretend to like and hate things they don't, and not when they preach about how other people are boring. Maybe I like Greenday for WHO THEY ARE and WHAT THEY DO and NOT THEIR STATUS. rant over. ¬¬ Good rant yeah I have a friend like that and my brother sometimes too. You should like a band for their music, not their popularity (whether you listen to a band because they're popular or stop listening to a band because they're popular). Youre a better and more devoted fan if like a band for their musical content, not superficial qualities.
Clawdia Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Green Day seem to be rather popular at my school. People have patches on their backpacks or wear band t-shirts. I never got shit from anyone, though. Mostly because I'm not a huge freak about them anymore. I always feel a bit naked when I wear band shirts or stuff, it's kind of too personal for me.
klytaemnestra Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 holy crap, you people say retarded in the wrong context way too much. everyone's entitled to their own opinion, right? just cuz someone don't like green day don't make 'em a retard. peace&love, yeah? xD
Radioactive1 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 One of my friends suddenly doesn't like greenday because they're "too mainstream". They used to be her favourite band. drumstick Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Before, in primary school there was pretty much ppl that hated ME 'cause I listen this "shitty pussy with eyeliner", they called me with derogatory names like satan, dope flend, etc. and I will be little upset about those things. Even ppl who liked them before, after American Idiot no one liked them anymore cause they "sold out" and they "play only for money". But now is okay...and I realise that was just bunch of stupid kids that have no better occupation then tease outher around them.
Hermione Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 This thread always surprises me. When I was at school I swear no one gave a shit about music, full stop. Yeah there were a few indie/goth-type people and a few chavs, but that was just about how people dressed, specific music never came into it. I didn't have a clue what music anyone liked unless I happened to be friends with them and asked them. It just wasn't a subject people cared about, if I'd liked Green Day at the time I doubt anyone would've even noticed.
chickin'pickin' Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 It was like Beirut at my school if you didn't like Hip hop or dance. Or even if you liked them but other stuff aswell. I got into many fights over idiots thinking they could fuck me about because I didn't follow them. I often made them realise that they shouldn't be fucking with me, aswell.
Juan Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Back on 2005, everyone liked Green Day, it was , hey dude, listen to this new band, and I was like, em, I'm pretty sure I remember Basket Case, that was a long time ago...and they'd be like So, after the fever passed, no one gave a shit about them anymore, they just care being cool, now Hip-Hop is the new stuff So, no I haven't got any shit about them and I was very public about my musical taste back then, now I'm more low-key And every time they ask me about my favorite bands, they don't know what the fuck I'm talking about
Yellow Felony Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Simply put: Green Day is a band that expresses the fact that you be yourself and don't give shit about what anybody else has said (like so many other people here have already said before me). Of course, I have never encountered this problem... but than again I never worn a Green Day shirt, due to the fact that sadly, I don't have one. But I'm sure to change that very soon when the new album comes out. I must say one thing though. It REALLY annoyed me that back in 2005 everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) loved Green Day, including freaks that loved the band for a year and than dropped it and moved on, particulary the cons and the preps. When the Green Day Fanatic Year died down I got back into them (to note, I've been into Green Day ever since I heard Basket Case in the car when I was 4 and when I got a burned copy of Warning from my brother when I was 10). And now I have a huge postor of Green Day on my wall and am trying to collect other random junk. But anyway, ill stop rambeling on. Just don't give a shit and tell them that they are being dumbasses, and for goodness sakes! Green Day is NOT! emo, nor will they ever will be. That last comment always pisses me off and I start to want throwing shit.
Alex. Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 its pretty annoying that all the 'marios' at my school call me emo just for liking green day, but i couldnt give a fuck. i just say, yeah go listen to your lady gaga and get out of my face.
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 it strikes me that green day is one of those bands that lots of people like and lots of people hate, but there aren't many 'in between-ers', who like some, not all of their songs.
MindlessZombie Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Green Day came and went in my school. At one point just about everyone I knew liked them, and now no one really cares anymore. Most at the kids in my school just think I'm nuts for still liking them, but it doesn't really matter...
Teenage Kicks! Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I don't really fuckin care anymore. I usually just agree with every word they say in a snotty smart ass tone. Or tell them, "Congrats! Want a cookie?!" What really gets me is when they say some shit like, "Well...Green Day sucks. And I listen to REAL music." Arrogant bastards. But it's whatever, who cares. Ya know, I know what I like. And nothings gonna change that. I'm going to shut up now...'cause I might end up writting a novel.
Tiffx Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Maybe I like Greenday for WHO THEY ARE and WHAT THEY DO and NOT THEIR STATUS. rant over. ¬¬ So true.
Haydée Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 it strikes me that green day is one of those bands that lots of people like and lots of people hate, but there aren't many 'in between-ers', who like some, not all of their songs. what? I know a looooot of 'between-ers', most of the people I know, actually
Tiffx Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Yeah I know alot of people who just like BOBD and Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Juan Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 And I know a lot of posers who thinks they're fans of Green Day yet they only have on their iPod BOBD and Wake Me Up
Guest Billy Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 when i was in eighth grade, my friends and i were a bit of douchebags, and my myspace song always used to be something Green Day. so they'd call me gay and a fag, that sort of thing; i used to try and play it off cool and be like "your girlfriend doesn't miss a meal." or something to that effect. i'd laugh that sort of thing, but looking back they didn't have that great of musical standards either. most of my other friends listen to rap and i'm used to it. it's good stuff to dance to and has a steady beat, whereas most rock songs you really can't dance to.
