Marc. Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Why are you talking about my father? no your boyfriend Jesse
Gail. Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 And since when is Green Day emo??!!!! Green Day is anything BUT emo, that's just the stupidest thing I've heard, that moron really doesn't know anything about music. This was like over a year ago it happened I really don't give a shit any more.I sound like a little sook. I guess I was 15 at the time I said that prime sooking age.
Melly. Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 no your boyfriend Jesse I'm 11. Boys have cooties. And Jesse is my father who doesn't like Green Day and tells me not totell people about our "special stuff".

shenanigans041 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 My friends make fun of them, and I get really mad! It's one of my most hated thingsIf you don't like them,Why do you have to point it out to me?It's not going to make me stop liking them.Psht,Idiots.It's not one of my most hated thing anymore becuase I don't care.Unless they really dig deep, they I will stand up for them. When I was obsessed with Green Day,my friends like, hated me for it.I can see why though I must have been really annoying. It doesn't really matter to me if people like my my music or not, becuase it's MY music that I listen to.They can listen to what they want, becuase thats their music.
FruscianteForPrez08 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 You know what else bugs me? Apart from people not liking Green Day? People who dislike and insult people because they don't like Green Day.We bitch about how much we want opinions, so why aren't other people allowed opinions?Yeah, so what we might not like them, but surely everybody is entitled to their own, and to believe what they want to believe?Everybody is entitled to an opinion, but there's a difference between an opinion and harassing someone. If everybody who didn't like them would just say "meh, I don't like their music" everything would be good, but usually they take in farther...
thecakeisalie Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I rarely wear Green Day shirts but no one has told me they suck. I get dumb shirt comments for Against Me and Bullet for My Valentine though.
douchebagsfinishlast Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 green day was infulenced by husker du and the replacements, 2 of the very first emo bands, so im guessing thats why people call green day emo?PS most people who say green day is gay listen to shit music like that retard who plays the piano and whines about how he lost a friend.
thecakeisalie Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 PS most people who say green day is gay listen to shit music like that retard who plays the piano and whines about how he lost a friend.I don't know who the fuck that is. Usually people who hate Green Day are whiggers. Sometimes metalheads hate Green Day, but we metalheads hate whiggers far too much to care about hating Green Day, so ironically we sometimes like Green Day just because whiggers hate them.

thecakeisalie Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I appreciate punk and sort of like Green Day. Rap and country can die in a fire.

douchebagsfinishlast Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 holy shit. have you ever listened to husker du or the replacements?after reading what you have to say about rap, it's pretty clear you know nothing about music.yes i have listened to husker du and the replacements, they dont sound emo to me but everyone says they they were the emo fore fathers.and what about rap it IS garbage
vegetarianxorgasm Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 yes i have listened to husker du and the replacements, they dont sound emo to me but everyone says they they were the emo fore fathers.and what about rap it IS garbageNah. Husker Du? C'mon. Try The Smiths...now that's classic emo.But Husker Du?However, I like to think that Green Day was inspired by many things, not just a particular group. They have a lot of styles intermingled in their style. It's just one of those things.Rap isn't so bad. Just the rap about naked women and booze.
Marc. Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 yes i have listened to husker du and the replacements, they dont sound emo to me but everyone says they they were the emo fore fathers.and what about rap it IS garbageso any band whether they are metal/rock/ or rap metal that uses rapping techniques in their songs are automatically shit? cause if so I never knew, Linkin Park, Bloodhound Gang and Slipknot were actually shit..
Captain Brittany Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Thanks to everyone that loved my rant. Anywho, I definitely like to argue, so if someone says something about something I like, I will probably argue to the death about it... Especially when it comes to stuff like music and books.Music and books mean everything to me, so I don't enjoy people misinterpreting shit to make it look bad and therefore use that misinformation to try to insult others. People haven't really said anything to me about Green Day... mainly beause most people in my high school knew to not mess around with my music. A few did, but whatever. I usually set them straight. People have made fun of AFI though. One situatation that happened not too long ago pretty much made me extremely offensive about things I like. I don't mind if people want to insult my favorite things- as long as they're prepared to be insulted back. But this chick slapped me when I said something back... so... yeah.
armatageshanks Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 yes i have listened to husker du and the replacements, they dont sound emo to me but everyone says they they were the emo fore fathers.and what about rap it IS garbagei've never heard that about husker du or the replacements. perhaps forefathers of grunge, or so called "alternative" but not emo. not even close.and your point about rap is sad and ignorant. there are rappers who have the same, if not more talent than some 3 chord punk band.
rootbeersoup Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 i've never heard that about husker du or the replacements. perhaps forefathers of grunge, or so called "alternative" but not emo. not even close.and your point about rap is sad and ignorant. there are rappers who have the same, if not more talent than some 3 chord punk band.I CONCUR ALL HAIL WES

Eldoon Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I can see Husker Du being SOMETHING of an influence on emo, but only as much as Weezer's album Pinkerton was--many early emo bands listened to it, but it doesn't sound anything totally like emo at all.But who the hell ever said The Replacements were an emo band? The 'Mats had many differents sounds over their career, but nothing that resembles anything "emo." Maybe the more ballad-y songs, but even then...that'd only be a reference for a band like Dashboard Confessional, if that. And even ARGUING over if rap is bad leads nowhere. It only gets people worked up, no good can come out of it. Rap and hip-hop are like any other genre of music: broad and different, with many diverse sub-genres that anyone can appreciate in some way. Also, like any kind of music, the mainstream "popular" version of it usually isn't the best or most telling form. I can't stand 90% of the rap songs I hear on the radio now, but there are still artists I seek out and listen to, you just have to dig deeper if anything strikes you, just like ANY other kind of music. Also, if you fear that liking rap would tarnish your "punk rawk" credentials or something like that, just remember that The Clash were arguably the first white band to embrace and record hip-hop songs when they released "The Magnificent Seven" and "Lightning Strikes (Not Once But Twice)."
florenciawantsnovacaine Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Yes,it has happened.Even my dad usually says: That Billie Joe is so gay...i can't believe you like that kind of music. And i say: Dad,you are just one year older than him.And what have you done with your life, huh? He is famous,he does what he loves,he is a very good guitar player, and he is younger than you! Now,think, and then answer..And,yes,all my "friends" use to say that kind of things, but then they just shut their mouths.Oh,and also, even some friends i chat to say: you can't call them Punk. They are sell-outs!And all i say is: And who are you to say that? Please, tell me the Punk meaning..
'Cesca Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 my parents hate them..hate their music...and hate everythings about them or about Punk or Rock....everyday they repeat:" they carried you away, they aren't the right thing...etc etc.." but I don't care....
Beathe. Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Even my dad usually says: That Billie Joe is so gay...i can't believe you like that kind of music. So what if he was gay? That doesn't mean anything.
florenciawantsnovacaine Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Dis i say it was wrong?I don't care...Billie does whatever he wants to,and that's non of my business, you know.I was just showing what my dad said,as an example.
