It depends on where abouts in Australia you are moving.

In Caboolture it's considered gay to wear a Green Day shirt,

mainly because it is somewhat like America's Detroit... to an extent.

But I don't have a Green Day shirt yet. I don't think it should

matter what people think of you though...

Yeah same... they say that Green Day are for 5-year old kids (I don't know how they work that one out) or that I am a 'dirty emo' (I'm not an emo). But then they like The Killers, The Kooks and Snow Patrol who are all awful so I just slag off their crappy taste in music. Or if they like r'n'b I don't even bother, I just laugh because they have such a mind-blowingly poor taste in music!

I've never been ridiculed for being a fan,but I remember coming back from vacation last Dec. and getting flak from my bf's little sister, 12. We were in the airport and he and his mom were trying to get some of our luggage back, I had to take care of his 3 sisters. The girl sees that I have black GD shirt on and says," GD's gay." I go, "why cuz they wear makeup?" " yeah" I just laughed.

Then this other time, again, with his sisters,but this is the third oldest, 13. She said to both of us, "have you seen them without makeup? They look horrible." To which I said, "they look great w/ or w/o it on." They shut up right there.

My mom thinks that Tre is gay. LOL My dad doesn't even know I like them, but we were in the mall a year or two ago and I bought a calendar,and he was like, they look like druggies. :verymad:

Once my bf and I were in FYE looking for the Network's album,and we ask the manager that we're looking for a new band called the network. And this guy was like, so would it be under pop? What kind of music is it? We said, um...it would be the same genre as gd, and the guy was like, ok so pop? When the guy turned to look for it, we both stared at each other like,WTF? I was seriously about to rip his head off. The next day, my bf, ray, told his buddies at work, and they were like, WTF? That's not pop music. And they don't even like GD.

Two days ago this girl comes up to me and asks me if i still like Green Day (and i was wearing Green Day shoes ). So i said yes and she says "oh, cause i don't. i think they're old." Stupid, like i'm supposed to say "oh, you don't like them anymore? oh, well now i don't." That's pretty much all she did with Gren Day in the first place, jump on the bandwagon only jump back off a few months later.

The players of my team, are always having fun of me and one friend of mine, because we really like Green Day, they sing American Idiot to joke with us. We respond and we don't give a shit about it, but this is really boring. Why the hell people don't mind in their own business ?

Do what you like, listen what you want and don't give a shit to what the others think about you ..

at my uni its considered a crime to like green day (im doing a jazz music course....) but you'd think that people who study music would be more open minded to other people's tastes? nope! i can't explain myself to anyone there, which is a shame...

I don't care if someone doesn't like my taste in music, but they don't have to be rude about it. Like, today, my "friend" said some homophobic remark about Billie Joe and, it was just so harsh, everyone at the table gasped and stared at her. I mean, seriously. Just because she's not a fan, does she have to diss him and the music that I like?
