As the girl above me said, my parents also think it's a phase.

I hope not.

For me, it's not a question of their music getting old for me - it couldn't do that, and my ongoing passion for Insomniac is the proof of that. There are a lot of songs out there, guys, and as long as you don't begin to actually lose your taste for the music, you won't ever get bored.

There are certain artists whose body of work is basically an ongoing dialogue with whoever is engaged with them - for me, the terrible thing with Green Day was when a sixteen-year dialogue stopped; now it's started again with AI.

It's whoever 'speaks' to you, as a previous poster said, and Green Day speaks to me. With artists like that, you want to check in with them every so often, see what their take is on the world, on life, where they are on this road that we're all travelling together.

Right now, Green Day is speaking to a lot of people, and last year was glorious, it was special, it was a particular moment in time that we all shared - and that's passing, that era is ending, and it's a little bit sad to me. Because it was basically a resurrection after the silence, it was pretty emotional too.

But as a work of art to explore and experience, as a piece of rock and roll to love and to be moved by, AI itself is just beginning for me, and it will be with me forever, another GD chapter to cherish along with the rest.

You just keep finding new angles all the time - fuckit, I heard something the other day in Good Riddance that had never struck me before.

And to think that the new album is already in the works, well, that's pure joy.

Hmm, I used to love them more than I do now. I love other bands as well, so i guess i'm not a devoted fan anymore. And I don't think that I lost the part of me or something like that.

I will love them forever. They are a huge part of my life now, just because i love them so much. I will never stop liking them.

Well, of course you can't predict whether or not you'll "love" em forever, but i think i will, as long as they keep doing what they're doing and continue w/ the good tunes. :)

Posted

i hope i will love them forever..and so i think i will:)

Posted

of course you'll love them forever! what are you smoking??

i listen to their music from childhood, what can change that?

Posted

im thinking of green day every 5,2 seconds.

im sure that i will never forget them

green day is everything to me

i will always love them

i dont think i'll ever have a change of heart about them, but i do think i will not listen to them as much as i used to,but they'll always be one of my favorite bands

I don't know if I'm going to like Green Day when I'm thirty. If I like them still then, it's cool, if not it's okay. I'm not going to waste my time thinking about if I'm still going to like them in the future. Like I like to say, nothing lasts forever.

Although it'd be damn cool to be a 60-year-old granny who listens to Nirvana, Green Day, Ramones, MxPx, etc. And who thinks Kurt Cobain is the hottest thing ever walked on Earth. If that happens someday, I'm a gonna be a happy girl.

wow good question.

probably not as much now...maybe cos i'll be concentrating on other things.

Probably not for me, but even if I'm not as obssesed with them in the future, it doesn't at all mean my appreciation for their music diminishes, it just means I start to discover other things too.

nah i dont think i will stop liking them, i got hundreds of bands on my iPod but i have more green day songs than any other ones.

This is one of those " people come out of the woodwork " threads that I was talking about .

I know. And it aint happening! why not?

You never stop enjoying their music, it just means different things to you. As an older fan I know songs that meant one thing to me years ago take on a whole different meaning after you experience something new. Green Day is more than the music, its a whole attitude thing. :bored: I am so tired I hope this makes sense to someone.
