Parley Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 The main point that separates the Beatles from any other group is that they completely revolutionized modern music. They influenced all the greats that came after them, including Green Day.
Sham Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 They're two different styles...kinda hard to compare.I agree. Besides, this is a GREEN DAY fansite. Who do you THINK is gonna win this one?
ad001 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 gotta love that joke account guymore radio hit..lol...they had tonnes more in their time.the beatles.
*patronsaintofthedenial* Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 i prefer green day but then again if i was born 60 odd years ago i'd probably say the beatles. it depends when/how you got brought up. i actually am quite amazed at the current closeness in results (Green Day [ 26 ] [57.78%], Beatles [ 19 ] [42.22%]), but in a way i'm quite pleased because hopefully it'll shut the idiots who think this thread is stupid up. i mean, it's a simple poll. sure the results seem pretty obvious but this guy's new, let him suss this place out how he wants, and try and give a good impression for god's sake!
lazrpo1nt3r Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 In my opinion, the Beatles are one of the most over-rated group ever. Backstreet Boys-overrating. In many people's eyes, they played hard-to-play music. Fuck no. and even though i could tell of the message, the lyrics were not that well written. again, in my opinion. And you think Green Day plays hard music. I can play 2/3 of their library using 2 chords! The lyrics were great too, and that's NOT an opinion, because if they didn't break the lyric and musical barrier in the 1950s, we'd probably be listening to hard rock the equivilant to Jessica Simpson.Don't judge the Beatles, because Beatles>ALL when it comes to history. Like them, don't like them, doesn't matter, because if they weren't around we definately wouldn't have had the same music to listen to.Beatles all the way...Besides, how many lyricists you know that think of things like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?
PurpleHex Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 its not a personal attack on that guy (sorry cant remember his name!) , its just peoples opinion, im not about to get personal like slag his mother off or something.
Parley Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 In order to be able to vote in the poll intelligently, you need to know some music history, at least from the early 60's on, so that lets out a lot of people on this board. Not because of their age, but because they haven't bothered to learn about it.For instance, anyone who says something like, "The Beatles are SO overrated" is someone who doesn't know anything about modern music history.
whatevergirl1 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I love the Beatles and Green Day, but Green Day hasn't really made as much of an impact as the Beatles...They both make(made) great music in my opinion. If i had to choose between the two i'd still choose Green Day, lol.
PlasticJesus Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Green Day, duh.Just cause The Beatles spent so much time and money on their songs, does not make them of better quality. Sure you gotta respect them in one way or another, they kick-started a revolution... but it was a bad revolution. A Beatles song has no meaning. It's words that rhyme nicely and a catchy beat. They were around in the right place in the right time. But Green Day, their songs had substance. So what if they're 2 minutes long and easy to play? What do you respect more? A machine that makes pretty sounds... with the help of a few people?... or three guys who put everything they got into their lyrics and sound night after night? So yeah, I tend to respect the more genuine band.
spark in the night Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 lol. atnwxcore 4 lyfe.whatever the fuck that meant....
Dangerous_to_know Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Both are amazing bands in their own right.. there really is no comparison.
ILoveTableArt Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Green Day, duh.A Beatles song has no meaning. It's words that rhyme nicely and a catchy beat. Wow. A Beatles song has no meaning? Right...well to each his own then.
Parley Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 A Beatles song has no meaning. It's words that rhyme nicely and a catchy beat. They were around in the right place in the right time.Someone just shoot me now. Better yet, shoot this kid. ^
armatageshanks Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 A Beatles song has no meaning. are you legally retarded?i know this thread is.
mclaren Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 this thread confirms it: democracy just doesn't work.

If you don't know much about the Beatles you shouldn't post an analysis of their music, if you do know about them and you really think what you just posted, you're a moron who should never post in any thread involving music, ever.

LamBCHoP Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 why dont you compare bands that are somewhat similar???
Kleptomaniac Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Green Day cause I don't really know the Beatles.
