Ally Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 i went though a patch when i couldn't listen to AI, cos it hurt when i listened to it, so i couldnt bear it, i can now though, it actually helps me now rather than hurts y'know, reminding me what happened so, it changed emotionally with me i guess.
LetItBeHappy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 when it happens to me, it last me for like a couple of weeks (even less)... Then I listen the song again and it's like "OMG, I LOVE _________, HOW CAN I BE WITHOUT LISTENING TO IT?!?!?"
DeJennsitized Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 WMUWSE for sure. I think the music video kinda ruined it for me. Basket Case has started to annoy me...not so much the song itself, but more the fact that it's considered Green Day's best song. I remember reading Youtube comments from a recent gig when they didn't play it, and they were all like "WTF they didn't play BASKETCASE?!!!1" and I'm like "no, but you've heard it played live a million fucking times, and they played At The Library instead "The trend does seem to be overplayed songs. Just the slower ones for me though, because I am STILL not tired of hearing American Idiot, Holiday or Know Your Enemy.
Hermione Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I'd have to say no. I think all of their songs mean something to me in one way or another. And while the particular significance of any given song will obviously change from day-to-day/week-to week/year-to-year depending on my life or how I'm feeling, I don't think any of them ever completely lose their significance or their appeal. There's no Green Day songs I'm bored of or that I wouldn't want to listen to. They'll all bring out something in me whether it's a deep emotional connection or just happy nostalgia, or anything in between. This "overplaying" thing people talk about doesn't seem to effect me at all, hearing a song loads of times makes no difference to my enjoyment of it. Hearing the songs over and over is just endless pleasure

Jack96 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. 21 Guns are the main ones.
Mato Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 No cause I don't give a shit if it's overplayed. That only means Green Day are successful and made another kickass song. I don't care what someone says about Green Day song, I'll just tell him/her to fuck off.Cause every song means a lot to me and reminds me of something particular, and no one can take that away from me.
theeulogy Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 yeahmost of the songsI started listening to them long ago and feelings changed as I got olderNo overplayed songs
alaniluau Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 No, not at all for me. There are just so many Green Day songs that it's hard for me to listen to one so many times that I get sick of it. And that's without even getting into The Network, The Tubbies, etc. I love it all!
Tiffx Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I don't listen to the radio anymore so 21 Guns still means a lot to me. No song has actually lost it's meaning, I've just grown bored of some songs like American Idiot.and although WMUWSE had a terrible video, it still has meaning to me. I don't see how a song can just lose it's meaning.
thisisAB Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Yeah. Usually if I abstain from listening to a song for a while, and then listen to it a while later, the original feelings and my interpretation of the song comes back.

No radio stations really play it here; KYE is still getting played, but not too often. I'm not sick of those at all.BOBD never got old to me. It's been my favorite song ever for the past 6 years. When it first came out, it was on the radio all the time, and I would always get excited; I never got tired of hearing it. Even now, I have to listen to that song at least once a week. American Idiot never got old to me either. Basket Case is probably the only song that has bugged me. I've been watching The Green Day Chronicles on Fuse too much, I guess. No other song really bugs me on there, but, for some reason, that one gets annoying after a while. So, no, a Green Day song has never lost it's meaning to me.
TAR Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I would say Nice Guys Finish Last is probably the only song I've ever really felt disconnected with after really liking it. I listened to it a lot and it just kind of fizzled out for me, I still enjoy the song, but not to the same extent.
