Evil Lord Zargon IV Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 lmaoyea, that's the only video I really didn't like, because of all the war images and all the horrible acting scences between those stupid kids, everyone thinks that's what the song was about Dumbasses don't ever bother to actually listen to song, fuck I knew that it had SOMETHING to do with Billie Joe's dad when I heard "Like my father's come to pass ..." at 9 years old!But no, no song has lost it's meaning to me. They all have their own meanings to me, I never get tired of hearing Green Day.WMUWSE only lost it's meaning because of the radio. Radio is evil and I will eat put all the brains of people who work for radio. No offense if you work for radio here :whistling:
DarknessFury Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 the video seriously fucked it up. it has nothing to do with the war in iraq. what was the dipshit who made it thinking exactly? i mean, everyone said that 'it was sooooo sweet!' yeah, sweet my ass.Apparently, the dipshit was Sam Bayer who brought you Bullet In A Bible...
Xboxmaster223 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 agreed. Also after a song like that is on Kidz Bop it is officaly lost it's true meaning.lol true, i cant stand kidz bop
green day whore Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 MUsiC is my life!!! it provokes a lot of feelings, yes.
I Write Tragedies Not Sins Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Yeah, BOBD lost its meaning for me, i first heard it on the radio in my uncles car, then i got american idiot, and the radio then played it over and over and over and over and over annd over and over and over...
BillieJoeBabyGirl Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 They have a lot of songs and I'm always listening a different one everyday so I never get bored! lolBut for exemple in the last 7 months I've listening Poprocks and Coke almost everyday and I can't get tired of it! I love their songs it means so much to me! And it's funny cuz I always give a different feeling from each song! Depends on my humour!
PurpleHex Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Yeah. Wake Me Up When September Ends kind of lost it's meaning. The first time I listened to it on my CD player it had this special, raw emotion. Then I heard it a few too many times on the radio. Then, they came out with the music video for it. It kind of ruined the meaning of the song's original intentions. A tribute to Billie's father. Usually if I abstain from listening to a song for a while, and then listen to it a while later, the original feelings and my interpretation of the song comes back.I still really love that song. I love the raw emotion, but I agree the video ruined it for me. I really cant stand the video. The way that video was used for that song, in my opinion (dont kill me...) was really manipulative. I listened to Wake Up knowing I was hearing a song about a man remembering his fathers death and then I got a video that was anti-war. It was like it manipulated my feelings for the song.
Irish Lass Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Yeah, BOBD lost its meaning for me, i first heard it on the radio in my uncles car, then i got american idiot, and the radio then played it over and over and over and over and over annd over and over and over...and over and over..Yea, I can't put on AI any more and listen to it the whole way through, I have to skip about 4 r 5 songs.
greenday rock!! Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 i think bobd lost its meaning after it was played in a school disco.ruined the song completely (it was horrible they all started to dance to it!!! really slow and ergh). but as for the others none have lost there meaning yet.
Maddy. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Wake Me Up When September Ends will always be my song. I don't overplay any songs, and I hate the radio.
shoegazeloser Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Boulevard of Broken Dreams was once a good song before it was fucked by the butt of the media, the radio overplay, the posers, and Kids Bop.
Soroush Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 This happends to me sometimes but soon it will pass soon and I would feel the need to listen to that song again.
mallorymaloney Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 No way. Just because the radio plays a song a lot doesn't mean it's 'ruined' for me ... That's ridiculous. And never forget that you have the control over the radio ... You're the one who can reach over and shut it off! ... fucked by the butt of the media ...Fucked by the butt, huh?
Modern Zero. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I never ever listen to the radio, so I don't even know what is popular or anything. I actually just heard about that Lady Gaga only like two-three months ago. So I have no idea how much Know Your Enemy or 21 Guns is playing on there, but I imagine it not being as bad as it was with Holiday, BOBD, American Idiot, and WMUWSE was. Those songs were so overplayed...xD So yeah, I stopped listening to the radio...I'm gonna say about three years ago and I never watch MTV, so a song doesn't loose it's appeal to me if it's overplayed because I don't pay attention to that stuff. But I'm sure there has been one point in time where a song has lost it's meaning for me, but I can't recall a certain song or anything.
Sharmellow Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Holy jeezus, what a page bump. Anyway, Good Riddance and Wake Me Up When September Ends for me.
Juliette Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Yeah, pretty much all of AI. I listened to it again recently though & I'd forgotten how good it was
.Militza. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Boulevard of Broken Dreams. God dammit, I think my ears start to bleed when I hear it.
Spark of Insanity Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I guess this is one of those that have been bumped here recently that actually has some relevance I would guess. Meh.21 Guns. Screw Kerrang overplaying it.This.WMUWSE as well. I hate when stuff is overplayed too much.
.Militza. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 ^lol. 21 guns is not overplayed here, yet. But I belive it's gonna happen the same thing like it was with BOBD.
L0205H Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I remember I found out that a guy I was talking to was simultaneously talking to another girl, so I started listening to Chump. I was so pumped up and angry listening to it, I was like, "Fuck yeah. This is it. This is it." then I kinda got over the guy.The song doesn't have the same meaning to me, but it's still kick ass.OH! And a few weeks ago in my Guitar I/Guitar II class, there was this mother fucker who decided to play Boulevard of Broken Dreams in our group. He couldn't strum correctly, and refused to let me play because I had "too much" experience. Then he tried singing it. I can't listen to that song without being reminded of that night.

MascaraTears Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 actually... no, not any GD songs at least. it's probably because I only became an obsessive fan of them fairly recently, so really i'm still in the "discovering" process. but even songs that I thought had lost their meaning to me, like BOBD, gained a whole new meaning and emotional intensity after I saw them performed live at the concert in philly. and there are certain songs that I didn't love when they first came out, like WMUWSE, so my opinion of them wasnt affected by the overplaying then, and now I love them there have definitely been songs by other bands that have lost their meaning to me, though.
