punkeddrummer Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 that is when songs hit you and leave the deepest mark. There are those few precious moments that should never be forgotten. Most everything in my life that I cared about can in some way be connected with music in some way or another. The worst song for me anymore the one I can not bear to hear is Amazing Grace. Itis tied to the worst moment in my life.Same as me. I can't stand to listen to Amazing Grace anymore. It was played at someones funeral that I was very close to.
Clare Complety Crazy Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Wake me up when septemer ends.Boulvard of broken dreamsWarningI hated those songs cos i heard them so much. Had no meaning to me. Now i havn't listened to them for a couple of weeks i started liking thwm again.
nooneanymore Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I'm not sure but I don't think so, it never losts its meanng but you may get a little bit bored of it for a moment but not permantly... that happend with wake me up when september ends the radio version and boulevard pf broken dreams! they just play them too much and when I played BOBD on a band camp and I had to learn it in 4 days you played the same song over over and over again I got sick of it at the moment but it never lost its meaning
junkie skum Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Give Me Novacaine, i used to feel so emotional when listening to that but its kinda worn off now, the line "Tell me Jimmy i Wont feel a thing" still gives my butterflies though
celeryeater Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 ^That line does that to me too.Songs haven't really lost their meaning that much., just changed their meaning.
give me a long kiss goodnight 77 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 hmm. the ones that hav lost some meaning to me are warning and wake me up when september ends. wel, i still get emotional over wmuwse, but with all the stuff people hav done with it, its just not the same...
Brain Stew Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 No. I don't listen to the radio or watch music channels so no song gets overplayed for me. I control what I listen to and how much I listen to it.
dookiehead Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I always loved Warning when I first heard it on ISH, but when I got the album Warning I got bored.
angels broken dreams Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 that is when songs hit you and leave the deepest mark. I didn't have to wait till the funeral, although I did crack when they played it. But it was his favorite and it was the last song I ever sung to him. That and Paper Lanterns. I cry every time I hear those songs.
The Doctor Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Not really. It would only change if I thought one thing, then I read that it was something else. I can't remember what song it was with... But I thought it was a really nice song, then I read somewhere it was about jacking off.Well THAT changed my opinion.
annie Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Not really lost its meaning.Of course I get sick of songs if I listen to them a lot. But then I just don't listen to them for awhile and they're like new again
greenday rocks!!! Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 When I hear wake me up when september ends It makes me think about my nice who passed away 2 years ago around september .espacially the sentence as my memory rest but never forgets what I lost, thats an really good sentence
Letterbomber Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Just WMUWSE. It wasn't the radio whoring it out - or I would've felt that way about AI, Holiday, BOBD, Basket Case, and Good Riddance - all raido whored sufficiently. It was the video. That thing was a fucking massacre. It just killed it brutally. Talk about beating a dead horse.lmaoyea, that's the only video I really didn't like, because of all the war images and all the horrible acting scences between those stupid kids, everyone thinks that's what the song was about Dumbasses don't ever bother to actually listen to song, fuck I knew that it had SOMETHING to do with Billie Joe's dad when I heard "Like my father's come to pass ..." at 9 years old!But no, no song has lost it's meaning to me. They all have their own meanings to me, I never get tired of hearing Green Day.
Linnea Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 no. i'm not one of those who listens to a song like 200 times/day.
catostrophic_mind Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Yes, WMUWSE has been killedBut i would like to defend the video- isn't the song about losing someone you love? well, in the video, the girl loses her boyfriend.another thing: the end of summer signifies loss of innocence. if you join the army, you will DEFINATLY lose your innocence.okay, all done. thanks
One Lite 1 Mind Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 BOBD is a big one for me. But, sometimes even to WMUWSE... my friend thought the video was about a boyfriend who cheated on his girlfriend and tried to piss her off by going off to war. Really, when people ask me, I just wnat to take put the lyirc book, open up to the page and say "Look dumbass, read the lyrics. you can't tell what it's about?" Really, I think it is pathetic to not know since it just comes in the 2nd verse anyway...
Hellcat Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Songs never losethe original meaning or effect on me, but i do get sick of hearing songs over and over on the radio.
redundant{basket+case Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 kidz bop is stupid..i like cried when i saw they did green day songs..
vintagesuitandtie888 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 of course.so i bought AI one day and i was listening to it all the way through and when it got to wmuwse, it was just wow. i dont know i cant really explain it--like the song held so many emotions. then the radio killed it. kidz bop killed it. all the little preteens running around singing it killed it. now its just like its a song--nothing special.
wowsers_trousers Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 well when i first heard macys day parade i fell in love with it and played it over and over until i was sick of it and so i stopped listening to it. but then the other day i was playing warning and macys day parade came on and i remembered how much i love it and i have started playing it over and over again. no songs lose their meaning to me, i just need a break from them occasionally.
Without A Trace Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Both the ballads lost their meaning when I heard everyone singing it everywhere. It became a plauge and well... the miracle of mainstram radio.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I think sometimes they do a little. But thats the beauty of Green Day songs, if I tire of one, I just dont listen for awhile, then its back to its original meaning.( Although I will say I havent gotten tired of too many green day songs.)
