Caise Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Well from what I can remember I was sitting on the coach minding my own when BAM this song comes up on the box (the music channel, it was the only one we had on crappy cable) and it's american idiot, I think "wow" but wasn't totally hooked.... yet. So holiday, BLVD, WMUWSE all came on and I wasn't mega into them. And my best mate was always going on about how good they are but I was just like "there okay but...." so anyway I'm dragged off to Birmingham to stay at my mum's fucking boyfriends house and I'm watching Kerrang and JOS comes on. I'M NOW IN LOVE! I mean I could so relate to the lyrics, One week later I've bought AI, then about a month later BIAB, two days after that Insomniac and most recently Dookie. I'm now trying to get all their old stuff and plan to get Nimrod next. So yeah I suppose I only got into em recently buuuuut when I listened/watched BIAB I found I knew the words to Good Riddance so i must have heard it alot to know em so maybe I've liked em for a lot longer than I thought....
Jovanna Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I guess when I first heard the lyrics for Holiday, I couldn't stop listening to it over and over again. But about in the same period we had to do a school project about the message that music sends, so I did some research and since then Green Day is my favourite band.
Twist Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 well when i was like 5 my cousin always had good riddence in the car. i liked that but i was just five. i was like "heeey it's my favorite soongg!!!" haha those where the days. anyway!! then i forgot about them till i was 12-13 when american idiot came out i went to musicvideocodes.com to see what they were doing now. i was really searching for holiday then all these other names popped up. i listened to basket case and recognized it from who knows when. and then i listened to longview and got reallly into them. then i bought kerplunk and when i heard who wrote holden caulfield, they became my favorite band.
.Spiffy. Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 the fact that i wasnt allowed to go to their concert rite after someone told me about them (and i realized id heard a couple songs), so i vowed to learn everything about them to pass the time until i can go see them
NobodyLikesU Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Well, um...I cant say really...but I can tell you I was a very weird child in 92-93. One of my first words was Green day Ithink it was my twevth or something tho. So Ive kinda always loved them.
Twist Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 i was riding my bike one day, and i saw a cd by the side of the road, and stopped to pick it up. it was in a case that looked like it came out of a cd case. it was warning. i put it in my cd player, and instantly fell in love with green day! i used google wich led me to GDA, wich led me to GDC, wich led me here! so.... thats it!i think that was the best way to ever discover a band!!!!
walkingalone_x3 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 My best friend and I both discovered Green Day at about the same time. At the time we had only known AI, then she got International Superhits, we were instantly hooked.
whatevergirl1 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Sadly, nobody got me into them, I usually get interested in bands myself, but i got really into them after BOBD....I'm not a teeny though! I swear, lol.
Armatage Shanker1535 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 my sister had the Warning cd and i borrowed it and was instantly hooked..then i went to a GD concert back in 04 and have been completely obsessed ever since
greendaygurl80 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 My friend Kayla was listening to American Idiot a year ago. And I didn't like the music at all. But my bud Amanda liked the cd and her older brother got her American Idiot for her b-day. She listened to it alot when I was around. And after awhile, I went CAMMANDO for Green Day. Now I have 5 of their cd's and are TOTALLY obsessed with the band. Thanks Amanda and Kayla!

megan_wants2bminority Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 mkay, sorry if this sounds odd, but fairly odd parents got me into green day. when that show's time was changed from 7 AM to some other time last winter, i got sooo upset, i started bitching to my friends that i had nothing to watch in the morning. one of my friends got annoyed at my bitching about boredom so she said to just watch music videos since i finally had cable tv. so i did, and the first music video i ever saw in my life was 'boulevard of broken dreams.' i started to love it...and i got into all green day's music then...ah surprisingly i used to hate green day *dont hit me!* its a long story... well more odd and stupid...
Mrs.TrayCool Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 A mix of my pal & older sis. Idk. I guess I grew to love them as I got older!
Jennuin Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 well my cousin got the Dookie CD and always listened to it and then American Idiot came out and EVERYONE was talking about it so i had to get the CD and...i loved it...then Moosy came along...lol
whatsername555 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 As soon as i heard BOBD, I was totally hooked on them. I don't know how i lived without Green Day before then.
