Nobody Likes Cam Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I know this is gonna sound weird, but I got into GD from "Weird Al" Yankovic. I loved his song "Canadian Idiot" and thought it was pure genius. I looked up the song it was parodying when I was 11 and I found "American Idiot". I instantly loved that song and I listened to some more stuff. I found Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Good Riddance, and Wake Me Up When September Ends, all songs I had heard before and had no clue who wrote them . It only took about three weeks until I was totally obsessed with Green Day and now I have seen them live once and can say they might just be the most amazing band on the face of the Earth.
AwesomeAsFudge Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 my cousin saw them in old newspaper at her house and the knew them and one day told me about them =)
Poprocks_and_Coke Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 My friend. She did 21st Century Breakdown on an USB stick for another friend. I was bored, so I put it on my MP3 Player. And the song See the Light made me a fan.
DoodleBob Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Well, I remember I would be driving in the car an I would hear "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" on the raido and I really liked those two songs, but that wasn't what got me into Green Day. When I was at my Dad's ex-friend's house he was telling my dad how good Green Day was and how my dad would really like their music. My dad never bothered to check them out, but guess who did?
angry_robot Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I heard Basket Case, Minority and Time of Your Life on radio and really enjoyed it but I didn't know who sings it, and there were no internet to search at Then AI was released, I really enjoyed American Idiot and Holiday and bought album. That was mind-blowing. At the same time I accidentally found out that Basket Case and Minority are also Green Day songs, at the same day I ran to music stores, searching more Green Day albums and that's how it started
Mrs. Nobody Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 My dad was a fan back when Dookie was released (he saw them play Brixton in 95) so there was a lot of Green Day played in the car throughout my childhood and then he bought he American Idiot for my birthday and then I was totally hooked
Viva_La_Revolution! Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 my brother at 1st then my best friend, and I instantly loved them
Shadowiegirl Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 MTV - Longview. I still remember watching it. It was just so great and fresh. I was hooked immediately.Mind you, *Smells like Teen Spirit" was also an instant hook as well.
Just Kate Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 apparently, my mom claims she's gotten me into Green Day. well, in a way, yes
Cre Tool. Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 My friend got me in Green Day. I thank him ALOT for doing so!
.katie. Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 When I was about 11 my friend who I've known my whole life got her sister's old iPod, which still had all her old songs on it. I was looking at it one day and realised it had the American Idiot album on it, so I started listening to it because I recognised some of the songs like BOBD and WMUWSE. After listening to the rest of the songs I was just hooked So I just started buying the rest of their albums and I've been a fan ever since
Tamara Rebel Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 my brother got the CD American Idiot for his b-day. For a while he didn't stop to listen to it so i didn't stop! And i continued but not him!
bass boy Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Cartoons. An American Idiot commercial was on between an episode of the bugs bunny and tweety show. So then my dad downloaded some songs and i was hooked.
Kristen M Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 My brother did back in 2009 right before 21st Century Breakdown came out. He had been a huge fan of American Idiot and he was trying to find leaks to the new album. When he finally found a website with the entire album I sat down and listened to it with him. It completely blew me away, I bought the album right when it came out, and now I can't imagine what my life would be like without Green Day. Sadly my brother can't stand them anymore because I'm always talking about them...
WGPunkRocker Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 A cousin of mine played American Idiot. xD I started listening to them from there.
peacelovegreenday Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I had heard their songs on the radio and watched them in The Simpsons Movie, but I didn't really get into them until they played 21 Guns on a New Year's Eve show. Then, I bought 21st Century Breakdown and eventually, their other stuff.
Meeshy Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I'm probably considered a fairly new fan, however, I have always loved the American Idiot CD...pretty much since it came out, but it's only been about a year since I really got hooked on the band. And as weirdly as it might seem, it sort of started with a dream I had about Billie.
Ashley! Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 waaay back when I heard welcome to paradise on the radio and have been hooked ever since.
Kid A Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Dad, he bought bullet in a bible way back in 2006. Became a fan since. I did air guitar a lot like a wally while watching it. That shit was legendary.
whatsername..x Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I think it was around 1995, I heard them on the radio and on music channels, back then it was all about pop music and boybands, Green Day were very different. I bought Dookie and have been hooked ever since
Moyeszet Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Heard "popular" kids talkin of them in the high school stairs. They were asking to one of them "the 21guns tab" and "Wastername lyrics" I was a totally "loser" girl for all this guys, so, the ugly truth is that i had think to listen the same things that they listened o be in their freind group. went listen 21 guns on youtube, i didnt find that amazing, and i googled "Green Day" for seeing a biography and all. I listened to dookie and got hooked. Even i i cannot listen to much at the music in the first times because of my little sensitized ears but after, i've been listening to green day and only to Green day, and whatever i listen now, i never get hooked again... Green Day's the only band in my heart, even if i'm friendless beacause of that
Pihla Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 My older sister when I was 11 or 12. She made me watch Bullet in a Bible and I was like "wow they're so awesome!". Now I'm even bigger fan than she
Rancid punk:LTD Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I always liked Dookie through Nimrod I heard them on the radio and had the cd's, during Warning I started to grow away from them. I hated American Idiot (how stupid is that?) and just stopped listening to them all together, a year later I popped it into the cd player and I started to think about my teenage years. I was hooked and since started to listen to them again.
