1 year ago exactly, I went to my first Green Day show after only deciding to go out of the blue 21 hours before. I liked a few AI and 21CB songs, but wasn't actively a fan. I had no idea what to expect, but it was amazing and I was instantly hooked. The energy of the show, the interaction and how the band seemed to be having just as good a time as the audience completely blew me away.

Bought all the albums and went to 3 shows in 3 different countries this summer. And stopped in nyc for the musical.

A distant friend of mine was into them, and playing them all the time at tennis camp, but after that week, I didn't see her in FOREVER, because she goes to another school, and I kinda forgot about it.

Somtime during that school year, I played Holiday on guitar hero.... and immidiatly looked up everything I could find by them. One song, people. ONE SONG. What other band could do that to you?

I was like 9 years old and my cousin gave me the american idiot cd...

And they stayed in my heart 4ever :)

It was during the AI era, I had a friend at school who let me use his iPod during class one day, while I was helping him choose songs for his band to play.

I said, dude, you should play some Green Day.

And by Green Day, I meant either American Idiot [song] or Boulevard of Broken Dreams, or Wake Me Up When September Ends.

Then he goes Yeah, that's why I said Saint Jimmy,

I was all, who? O_O

Then looked through his iPod and realized that St. Jimmy was a Green Day song, and that I needed to look into those guys more.

And here I am now, Green Day super-fan extraordinaire. :D

They suddenly.....came, played, and they " won" me!! :)

Well, I heard Boulevard Of Broken Dreams when I was younger, but the radio on September 30th really got me into them. No prizes for guessing which song I heard.

I used to listen to popmusic (I know, it was the worst period in my life)

So I wanted something different, because pop was all the same, I went to YouTube and BAM! I became fan of Green Day and bought all their CDs

And now people think I'm weird, but I don't give a shit xD

I wanna be the minority,

I don't need your authority,

Down with the moral majority,

'Cause I wanna be the minority

My freind showed my AI in year 6 and i got hooked ever since !!!

Okay, so I have a completely epic and dorky life story to go along with this... But I'll condense it.

My mum was a hardcore fan ever since Kerplunk came out, and she played them for me when I was little.

I loved their music, but I wasn't like super obsessed like I currently am xD

Ever since I started playing drums, I just got so much more of an appreciation for the whole band (specifically TRE :D )

And the addiction started!

Even though I knew about them and had listened to them before, when I listened to AI (the song), and I thought 'I love how the drums sound'...and then went and bought the record, got hooked and then bought the rest. So I guess Tre got me into Green Day

Well, i first listened to Green Day on the radio in 2004 and was instantly hooked on it. I listened to it over and over again. On christmas, i got Bullet In A Bible the first year it came out. i listened to every song plenty of times. I was addicted... in early 2010, i had every Green Day album, and knew alost every lyric to all of Green Day's songs. GREEN DAY ARE AWESOME!!!

My cousin actually got me into Green Day (But for some reason she doesn't like them now, go figure) Actually she got the AI album and she would play it every night for me to listen to when I fell asleep. And I was really into them for those years. (I kinda forgot about them when I went into foster care, and then I found them again and remembered all of these things when I listen to that album) But as I said I found them again, and got back into listening them and ever since then I love them. So I always thank my cousin for getting me first involved in listening to them

My cousin got me into them around Christmas 2009. He plays guitar and I got a guitar for Christmas so I wanted him to teach me something. He asked me if I knew any Green Day and I said that I didnt know who Green Day was. So he told me about Good Riddance, and that was the first song I learned. Then when I got home I was curious to look at the rest of their stuff. Every time I see him he plays a Green Day song on his guitar for me, and almost exactly a year ago he gave me his Dookie guitar book and his electric guitar.

As weird as this sounds, I got into most of the music I've listened to because of the school bus rides 1st grade and on...

I'd always be on the bus for like 45 minutes at least every morning and after school...so I'd either listen to the radio or when I got a bit older...

my cd player. As for Green Day...I got into them by myself. I'm pretty sure I was on the bus and must have heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams or something. All I know is that it was 2004 and I was in 9th grade.

Both my parents separately (who ironically got divorced years ago, but I digress). I was a "fan" in 2004 when AI came out, but I quickly lost interest. Around late 2008, I was on the bus with my iPod on shuffle and American Idiot came on and I realized how good of a song it was. Then my friend Whitney was on a school computer around the time 21CB was set to come out and I asked her what she was doing. She said, "looking at stuff for the new Green Day album". I told her I didn't know they were coming out with a new album, and she said "It's gonna be awesome". Well when it did come out, my dad told me to put it on my iPod. I listened to it and was BLOWN AWAY. From then on AI and 21CB were constantly on my iPod all summer. Well around the end of the summer, as her birthday present, my mom took us to see the Green Day concert at Madison Square Garden and was intrigued by the older stuff and immedately bought International Superhits! 12 days later my dad took me to see them in Kansas City. By this time I had BIAB on my iPod too and I was getting deeper into the older stuff. I've been a fan ever since.

I bought "Dookie" at Goodwill for three dollars.

I've been hooked ever since!

my brother used to be really obsessed with them, so i remember when i was younger i would always hear the dookie album.

then one day i heard "american idiot" and i went out to get international superhits, and then bought the AI album when it came out.

i liked them for awhile and then disliked them lol. then my dad offered me concert tickets so i decided to go with my best friend.

best night of my life and it turned me into a lifelong fan. :)

I didn't like Green Day when American Idiot first came out. Back then music was just background noise to me.

Boulevard of Broken dreams was constantly played on the radio, and one day I actually listened and discovered I loved it.

When I was 11 I used to go to this Christian Daycare/Summer camp thing, I definitely hated it. There was this kid who was 8 years old and always wore a misfits shirt. He happened to own American Idiot and I think his parents were big fans of the band. Through him I met this group of 6 kids there that eventually all were into Green Day at the time I was. We formed a group that listened to Green Day and other stuff while everyone else was obsessed with Backstreet Boys/ Brittney Spears. We also liked Pokemon  . My uncle knew that I liked Green Day so he accidentally bought me Warning instead of American Idiot. Warning became the first album I ever loved.

That was 7 years ago and today I love Green Day more than I ever thought was possible and that love will continue to grow.

They helped me so much

My brother showed me the music video to American Idiot, but I didn't think much of it at the time (I was busy doing something else). A few weeks later I decided to watch it again, liked it, and looked up more of their songs on Youtube. It was then that I found BOBD, a song I had been trying to find for a few years, and fell in love right then and there.

My ex best friend

He was a quite fan of them.He showed me a songs like bobd, basket case and american idiot,holiday..

And i liked them and started to look for more stuff.

Now my ex bf hates them (i will never find out why) :pinch: and he doesn't like me anymore,i guess for being a big fan of them. =/

But,however i will always be thankful to him for got me into Green Day.

I just heard a song on the radio. Downloaded it on my phone. Loved it. It was American Idiot. Bought the album on release day. Have not looked back since

I heard Good Riddance on the radio a lot ever since I was little, not knowing who it was. I thought the chorus was pretty cool, but I never really thought much of the song.

At the end of 4th grade, my best friend moved to another school and I was devastated. At this new school, he met a guy there who loved Green Day and was listening to them ever since he was a toddler. He introduced my best friend to Green Day who then bought the American Idiot album. So in 2005 I go over to my friends house, and he plays St.Jimmy, and American Idiot (those are the only two I remember) on his stereo and it was fantastic. It was the first time I had listened to a song all the way through and was interested the whole time. Basically, Green Day got me into listening to music.

So then I go on some green day website and watch music videos, mesmerized, looking at videos of them before 2004. Basketcase was notably the most memorable. The feelings I got when he said "It all keeps adding up, I think I'm cracking up" were unexpected and over whelming. I was instantly hooked on the band all together. So after I finally stopped getting Mike and Tre's names mixed up, I then learned how to play guitar and I learned how to play American Idiot and Basketcase. It was great.

After watching the video for Good Riddance for the first time, I was astonished at how that song that I had heard on the radio all that time when I was younger was actually Green Day.

I was also amazed that the guy who striped down to a leopard thong on stage was the same guy who wrote Good Riddance.
