What/Who got you into Green Day?

I'd always liked them, but I was too young to be into any music really. Until this guy moved in across the street when I was 9. He took me into his room, played "'All By Myself" and goes "Know what that song is about?" and I go "Uh, being by yourself?" and he goes, "No, masturbating."

I've been a huge fan ever since (almost 12 years).

there was a time we were fighting. and he listened to punkrock and stuff... and I liked it, but I refused to listen to it because he did.. which is really stupid as I think of it now anyway, he was listening to green day and I was like "LOVE AT FIRST HEARING!! " but I didn't admit it...'cause I hated him.. :hmph: .and that's why I sticked to Hip Hop. well...as we grew older the fighting stopped and I finally stopped caring what others think of what I'm listening to and that's when I reaaally got into green day

Complete accident. My Mum got Dad International Superhits for his birthday thinking he loved Green Day. He'd never heard of them.

Still, he made me listen to the cd-I was 4 at the time-and it became one of our favourites.

I completely forgot about the cd when Dad moved out, but about a year ago I found the cds again. Went through them and was just flooded with memories of me and Dad when I was little.

So I stole the cds from his car.

I got into Green Day last year as 21st Century Breakdown came out. I've never really been a big fan of Green Day, but I liked songs such as Holiday and When I Come Around. Somehow I bought 21st CB and my father already had Dookie and Insomniac. So I steadily got more and more into Green Day. Now they are and will always be my favourite band forever.

My friend, who's actually on here as well, emirisan, gave me some Green Day cds to borrow and played me Green Day songs nearly every day at school.

Green Day are basically the only band I like that aren't J-Rock or K-Pop. They're special

When I was around 14, Chad [Chad is Rad] got me intro Green Day.

We we're outside of Avantis (awesome restaurant in IL) in his mom's (my Aunt) van, when he played "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"

and I said something like "Wow, they're actually pretty catchy".

Later, me, him, and some other peeps were all out in this orange van listening to music and whatnot.

That's when I started to listen to Green Day while reading the lyrics from the booklet.

I ended up getting really into "Holiday"..It was just sort of like a "fuck you" song and I loved it lol.

I remember how much my musical mind had changed and expanded after that night.

Soon after, I got all of Green Day's albums. Also, getting into Green Day is what ultimately

got me into rock music in the first place. I started listening to System of a Down, Korn, Mudvayne...

I don't know how it happened, but Green Day definitely started it all.

A guy I went to school with showed a video with BOBD as the background song. I was never really fond of that kid, but I'm eternally grateful to him for making me fall in love with Green Day.

My group of friends in middle school listened to Green Day, so I knew their music relatively well. And then I went to the Pop Disaster Tour in 2001 and...the rest is history :-)

I found out from my friend Jamie. We were doing something at her place and I asked her if she could play some music for us. She said yes and started playing American Idiot on her laptop. I liked the song so I asked who sang it and she said Green Day.

So yeah, that's how I got hooked.

I'd heard of them when I was young 'cos I remember when Warning came out and seeing the video of Minority, I was about 7 at the time. Then when AI came out a friend gave me a loan of it and it blew me away but I never really got into Green Day until last year when a friend leant me his copy of 21st CB and I was hooked. I then went and bought some more of their albums and have now seen them live and they blew me away
