TanyaDiamond Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I first ever heard good riddance and always loved it, i think the main thing that really made me fall in love with them was Jesus of Suburbia! nearly 4 years <3
Dry_Ice Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 In 2000 or so my sister had some Green Day songs on her iPod. Her bf put them on there and she never really liked them. So I would steal her iPod and listen to them sometimes when she wasn't home. And when I heard Good Riddance on the Seinfeld season finale really hooked me. Also along with Billie Joe performing it acoustically on David Letterman (maybe it was Jay Leno?) made me just cry. It was a great performance and so rawr, Billie Joe looked like someone I could look up to after that. I liked Green Day but not until around AI came out a few friends let me borrow a few albums and ever since then I was stuck.
whatsername343 Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 My lovely brother He bought Dookie in 94 and later gave me the single to Basket Case because i always danced to it when i was little. So i always listenes to basket case, i was a badass kid So when i grew older i got intersted in what else this band has done so i bought the records and loved them
Eighty. Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 My best friend many years ago, and now she doesn't mind Green Day and I can't stop talking about them
Jessayy Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 My story is actually embarassing The girl i sat beside in school when i was younger liked american idiot, and me being the complete loser i was, decided i wanted to BE her, and have a listen... but i am now im So thakfull for my loser ways, im now obsessed Its funny, that girl hates green day now
Christina. Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 It was probably my cousin, she got me into the whole "punk" music scene. She bought American Idiot and I remember seeing the single and cover art and being like "Well this looks pretty cool". Then eventually Boulevard of Broken Dreams came out and I was hooked. I think back then, being 9 or 10, there was more of a liking for GD aesthetically rather than for their lyrics. For about three or four years I basically stopped listening to Green Day but eventually started listening to them again when 21st Century Breakdown came out and even more so in December 09 after their Sydney concert. This time I got into the band on a more personal level where their songs held much more of a meaning than they did when I was 10.
21st century idiot Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I was laser tagging when Boulevard of Broken Dreams came on over the speakers, took me weeks to track down what it was. When i finally did find American idiot i fell in love with them...been buying their albums since.
Charlotte2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 My brother would always play their music really loud in his room and I could hear it. And the rest is history...
Silverlight Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 i cant really remember why or how i got into green day... I really liked it when American Idiot came out, im not ashamed to say i became a fan during the AI era coz i was on 6 when it did come out, so i had no idea about them. but i think 21st century breakdown was the blossom of my love with green day, and plus, i think the guy i had a crush on likes them...
Storer Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 My dad came into my room with a copy of American Idiot when it was first released and said "I think you'll like this". I never looked back
Hellcathavok Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 1993, i was 12, he was 14 and a punk....... so yeah it all started coz a guy i fancied gave me a loan of Kerplunk!
-Billiejoezee- Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 When I was 7, I saw a poster of just Billie Joe in a music store, along with many other rockers, but billie caught my eye. He was the only cute one from all the posters and I asked who he was, and they told me "Billie Joe, lead singer from Green Day." I Went home and searched him up, I watched the vid of Minority, I thought he was ugly in the video, but I loved the music. That's how I got hooked. Chessy, but whatever,
Ms.Minority Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 One of my best friends showed me Green Day....her older brother was a huge GD fan at that time...I'm just sooo glad she did =)
Slappy72 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 It all started when I was 8 years, my brother, we watched TV together ... and was the video of "Wake Me Up When September Ends" I have no words to describe what I felt when listening to the song and see that Billie had that look Everything happened quickly ... days after American Idiot was in my hands, I kept on listening, , when suddenly ... I think to going to a shop cd `s. .. there was Dookie! ... With big name "GREEN DAY" immediately buy it, I did not care if I had explicit content, that was my band ... that's my band!....now, they are 7 years I've been with them ... I turned 15, but all I feel for Green Day will never change ... I could say that GD to death!, what else I can say ... but my life GD ! :eyebrow:

iloveyouisntenough Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Well I had liked a few of their songs for a while, and began listening to more as time went on. Then my cousin and I were discussing our favorite music, and he really liked Green Day. He introduced me into a lot of their music I hadn't heard yet, and I haven't been able to stop listening to them since!
jm_xd Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I had heard some songs like American Idiot, Basket Case and Holiday. I liked them very much, then Sampy (from here, GDC) introduced me to all of their music That totally changed my life!
Lou-Lou-Cool Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I got into them when I was around 13, 1998 I was friends with a guy in school who was abit older than me (ended up going out with him, years later) and he always wore a Nimrod Tshirt, through him I learned about the band and he took me to my first Green Day gig the same year
Holly Ann Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I remember listening to that. Although, I thought the first time they played it in the UK was of XFM Oh! They must have said it was the first play on K! or something then.
