What/Who got you into Green Day?

my brother got me into Green Day. he is 8 years older than me and he had the dookie album when i was a kid, i listened to it and pretty much loved them ever since

I had to much money and so I decided to buy Bullet in a Bible..

after I first watched it I knew that I have to be a Green Day fan...

I started listening to Green Day in 1999 or 2000 when I was 12 or 13.

My brother bought Nimrod because he liked the song "Time Of Your Life". He didn't much care for the rest of the album so he gave it to me. It completely changed what I liked about music. This was it. I soon threw away all my Rap and Pop albums in search of discovering punk and underground.

Well,it first happened in 2004 when AI was released.It's songs were everywhere on TV so,I started to like them...Actually I wasn't a fan(I liked only BOBD,WMUWSE,AI and JOB...and Holiday)

I becamed a fan a few years ago before 21st CB appeared.I drew Billie's portrait(because I liked his face)and I took theyr discography.

my mom had a vinyl of dookie that my dad hated but she really listened it all the time and i grew up with that of course in that time dont cared me later saw on the tv american idiot and i start to listen more of green day ...so basically is my mom's fault

This is a beautiful story and it all started with Neopets.

I used to get on there like crazy and on the forum part all the girls would be like "Who's the hottest guy EVER!?" and all these girls kept saying "Billie Joe Armstrong" my response was something like.. "roflolmaothat's a stupid name." And I always said Ewan McGregor (mmm). Anyway, I looked them up, made fun of him-- well, all of them-- a lot every time I saw them. Then I was watching TV one day and they came on.. I heard their music.. and I got really embarrassed because I actually liked them. I asked my mom if she approved and she said she used to listen to them... sooo I decided it was okay.

hmmmm... I was playing Tony hawk's Americna Wasteland and I heard Holiday (and Teenagers from Mars by The Network) I didnt even own a cd player back then. I set the soundtrack to only play Holiday. I was sooo hooked. I went out and bought some sogns fromI Itunes and soon I became the obsessed fan I am today

I got American Idiot when there was all the hype about it but didn't go much further for that for a while, then a lot of my high school friends liked Minority so brought BIAB in summer 2008 so got into Green Day a bit more. Then in late 2008/early 2009, Woolworths was closing down and I saw International Superhits for cheap so brought it and after hearing the first few tracks on the ride home got properly hooked on Green Day, so got like the rest of their CDs and at the same time 21CB was about to come out so it was really good timing.

I saw Wake Me Up When September Ends on tv in 2005 and I listened to that song non-stop but I never searched for more Green Day songs back then.

But last year when Know Your Enemy came out my mom called me to listen to that song when it was on the radio because she thought it was an awesome song. So it's because of my mom that I became a fan xD

I originally payed my friend out for liking them, nothing really harsh, at that time I really had no opinion on Green Day so it was just funny to stir her up (great friend I am haha) But then I dont know how it happened, she showed me some of their stuff or something, and gradually over time I got more and more interested, till how I am now haha. It's many years ago and I can't remember when, but it was before American Idiot! My sister listened to them and she introduced them for me. Then, when American Idiot came out and we reallyreally started to listen to them! And I'm glad!

My dad is a huge Green Day fan. He used to always play Kerplunk and Dookie when we went in the car when I was a baby, as Dookie was newly released when I was one year old.

Ultimately it was their performance at Woodstock '94. I don't know if that aired prior to "Jaded in Chicago" but I think it did. I had heard a single or two prior to that and really liked them, but after watching the complete cluster-fuck of their Woodstock performance Live on TV, that was it for me.

I think it was around 02/03, I used to sleep over at my best friend, Lauren's house all the time... And she had all of their albums because her older sister listened to them, and she used to play International Superhits and Dookie in her room, that's basically how I got into them.

I think it was when I visited family years ago and my aunty played a Green Day cd in the car and I liked it, I can't remember what one it was though. Then, for Christmas she got Dookie for me. Soon after, I bought all the other albums and put my entire family off Green Day

Christmas 2004 my mom gave me her wishlist. On the list was American Idiot, and I bought it for her because I thought the album art looked cool.

The following September I started taking guitar lessons and the first song I learned was "Brain Stew." I loved it so much that I played it for hours every day. Then I remembered my mom had AI so I "stole" it from her and played it non-stop. Then I bought the rest of their CDs.
