Monica. Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 my sister did. It was around american idiot era, they were all over the t.v. and i started being "into" them, then i started listening to their other albums. now, here i am
Sarah.Scumbag Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I think there were always signs as I was growing up that I was going to be a Green Day fan. I used to look up to my brother a lot and one day I was sitting looking through his CD collection, mostly just looking at the kind of spine bit of the CD, then I pulled out Dookie and sat looking at the artwork for about 5 minutes, until I heard my brother coming up the stairs, so I put it back in with the others and ran out of his room before he found me. Another time when I was about 3 or 4, I was in HMV with my mum and I saw a copy of Nimrod and the cover intrigued me, and I thought that if I were to buy it, i'd find out who the people behind the yellow circles were, so I asked my mum if I could have it, but she said no. Then, when I really got into them was when they were in the charts with American Idiot, I bought the album eventhough the only song I knew was American Idiot which at the time was unusual for me, I very rarely bought albums, I remember being in Tesco and not knowing if I should ask for it or not since I had only heard the one song, but I decided i'd chance it, afterall my mum normally wouldn't buy me stuff when we were out for the weekly shopping unless it was food. But that day was different. she allowed me to have it, and I can't be more thankful that she did because ever since then they have been my favourite band, sometimes more than other times, but they always were my favourite and since then they have changed me as a person and helped me through a lot. (:
xGDxM Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 My best friend showed me the Holiday vid, i loved it. Am in love with their music since then <3
Marlee Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Well, my dad is actually a huge punk fan, and was a big fan of Green Day in '94. i was born November of '93 and apparently my dad played his Dookie record all the time. I know that sounds weird... i found my favorite band from my parents?! yes actually i did I basically grew up around Green Day music, but didn't start to really appreciate it until i was 13, after American idiot. Now I love it, thanks dad
greendaytodeathandback Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I saw Green Day performing live on TV. Love at first sight
tangerbabii58 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I was probably 1 or 2 years old when I heard them on the radio I was obsessed when I first heard the opening guitar to When I Come Around
Dutch_Idiot89 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 About 5/6 years ago I heard Basketcase and I thought: Oh my god, that's a great song! So I searched the internet and found out it was Green Day! I liked them already, because I know some few good songs then but I wasn't really a fan. By that time I listened a lot of songs of Green Day I've never heard and I fell in love haha. Last month I finally saw them for the first time performing and since then I am obsessed haha
Backyard Skulls Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I heard Bolevard of Broken dreams on the radio in 04 and thought 'wow'. Then my friend wanted me to sing holiday with him, infront of the school. We just done these crappy actions (i was only in Primary school then P:). I got AI for Christmas and I asked my mum about their other albums (there was a little sheet with pictures of them) and she said she used to like them before she became a HUGE blink fan. I loved AI, it was my first 'rock' album. I decided I wanted to listen to some other of their songs, so I bought BIAB in early '06, then wrote to my Green Day mad Uncle, who sent me Internation Superhits!, nimrod, Dookie and Insomniac. I loved IS! and didn't really listen to the other 3 for ages, only started loving Insomniac last year Then it went dowhill
Sheehan Rysa Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Tv i guess . . Then i heard more of their stuff n LOVED it !!
Conspiracy. Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I borrowed AI from my cousin on Christmas 2 or 3 years ago. Since then, I literally listened to it every single day and I started to love Green Day.
east cc nowhere Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I fell in love with the song holiday when AI came out when I was about 9/10 - I probably heard it on the radio or on TV. I asked for the album for christmas because I didnt own any music and wasnt really into any other band/artist and I really wanted to hear some of their other songs. long storey short I fell in love with the cd and played it on repeat on my cd player (i had no ipod ) over the next few years I saved all my pocket money to buy their older albums. It was so exciting eveytime I got a new album - looking at the cover and little lyrics booklet learning them off by heart. Now im 16 and a die hard fan!! Nobody really got me into Green Day. I just heard one song and it went from there
Billie Kristy Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Actually there was a guy, wich I liked. And he told me he could do basket case on the drumms. I listened to the song a couple of times, and became some kind of addicted to it. But the guy turned out to be an asshole, and Green Day turned out to be the best band on earth.
gloria.closetotheedge Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I saw the American Idot video on MTV and I instantly fell in love with 'em complitely *w*
ColetteCool Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 My Mom had a bunch of their CDs when I was young, and she played them around me, but I heard Holiday on the radio when I was little and I loved it, but I didn't know what band it was. Then my Mom was listening to American Idiot [the song] on the radio when Iw as older and I asked what band it was, and she said Green Day. So then I was like ^w^
Rage & Love. Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Ok, so my brother has constantly been listening to them, like, since I was born, and I never really took interest, but I was constantly listening to them, and then he bought 21st Century Breakdown album and tab book on day release, and over heard him play East Jesus Nowhere. And I was like, omg :| play that again and ever since then I've just been listening to all era's, and know, more than most people about Green Day :
greendayawtw Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 when i was 9 my friend goes "i gotta song on my iPod with a really bad word." and we listened to BoBD and i fell in love with it. then a year later, another friend showed me holiday, which i also liked alot! then one day, i got the 2 songs on my ipod, (BoBD and Holiday w/ fade end) and i was listening to them on All Repeat and when holiday ended and BoBD started i was like "woa! if i cut out the fade, i could make them one song!" so i cut out the fade and combined them and looked up the songs. thats when i found out that they were actually SUPPOSED to go together *facepalm* then i looked up other songs. then i bought a cd. then another. then 3 more. the rest is history...
Brina93 Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Well, my mom and sister said that I used to dance whenever When I Come Around came on when I was a baby. But, I really got into Green Day after seeing them perform at the 2005 Vmas, never been the same since
Happy Emo Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 My cousin tends to go through phases of music, and years ago he was in his "I'm a punk rocker and everything else sucks phase". And he got me to listen to Basket Case, and never really having any music knowledge at that age I was just thinking "...I like this " I kind of fell out of them during the Shenanigans period but after seeing them at T in the Park in 2005, I know they're the band for me
Contradiction Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I heard "Time Of Your Life" during a news montage on British television. It got stuck in my head so I wrote an e-mail to the television station asking which song they used. I got an e-mail back saying that my English was so good (I was 14 and English's not my first language) and they gave me details of the song. From that moment I started to listen to other Green Day stuff as well
waltherg22 Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I was 7. It was the year 2000 and I heard the song Warning on a HP advert. I believe it was advertising photo printers as they kept passing frames around eachother.
jessie86 Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 My aunt got me listening to Green Day when I was little.
Snorri Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 My cousin. He was listening to International Superhits! which got me into them Although he doesn't listen to them anymore
