chickin'pickin' Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Is it really odd to be shallow, in this day and age though?
oO_Meliie Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks to my buddy and im really thankful she got me into them ! She played me Give me novacaine and i fell in lov with that song then i started gettin into listenin to other songs of them ! Now here i am i love that band ( i wonder sometimes what i'll do if i haven't heard of them )!
AdelineGrenades Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I was watching Fuse the one day and the video for American Idiot came on. I was hooked right from there, and I think it's because they were just so different from the bands I was listening to at the time as far as their look and attitude.
just_like_jen Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 My sister got me into a lot of the bay area punk bands when I was quite young, I first heard green day when I was about 8. We were sitting in the back of our parents car and my sis was listening to the kerplunk album (on cassette tape- old school!) and we always used to share headphones if one of us didn't have any music to listen to on car journeys. Anyway, the first song I heard was welcome to paradise, obviously followed by christie road and well, I was hooked instantly and the rest is history. Unfortunately I wouldn't get to see green day live for another 7 years when I was 15...it was sooooo worth the wait though x
94th nimrod. Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Daddy when I was about 3 years or something... in the nimrod. era
Shaekwon Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 The same as many of my generation, American Idiot. They were friggin' everywhere back in 2004, you couldn't help but hear their songs all over the radio, and on TV. I remember I loved Boulevard of Broken Dreams, but I never tried to get into them. Reason being I'm black, and every one would always say Rock is white people's music and they'd start fucking with me when I listened, so I let all interest just die right there, until I renewed my interest earlier this year. So yea, that's all I got.
dangreenday Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 basically, back when i was 8 years old, i never used to listen to anything but old songs, from 60s / 70s that my parents used to listen to in the car / at home ect, and one day a guy who i used to be friends with had a birthday party, and at this party we were playing computer games ect, then later that night, we put on MTV i think it was, and there was some sort of countdown of top 100 bands or whatever, and i remember my friend had a green day poster on his wall, as the vids were going closer and closer to number 1 , he put on a cassette he had which happened to be Kerplunk, and from hearing 2000 Light years away it really changed everything for me, id never heard anything like it before, and as we listened thru kerplunk, sure enough Basket case came on the MTV show, and i was blown away - so that week sometime i asked for a green day cassette and my granddad took me to town and i got Dookie , and ever since then they have always been my idols and favorite band of all time :Di cant believe its been 16 years now , and ive never fallen out of love with them for one second !!
LinziLetterbomb Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 My dad told me to listen to Nimrod, he was like 'you want something new to listen to don't you? well i reckon you'll like this' so i was like whatever. Anyway i listened and instantly fell in love with it. So yeah my dad is to blame
gdpony Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 MTV when they actually played music with the warning video
Isabel Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 My sister got me into a lot of the bay area punk bands when I was quite young, I first heard green day when I was about 8. Unfortunately I wouldn't get to see green day live for another 7 years when I was 15...it was sooooo worth the wait though x You're not te girl who was on stage in Manch, are you? That girl had loads of mad GD related tattoos on her arm exactly like the one in your av My brother got me into them. Back in 2001 when I was listening to Foo Fighters and The Offspring he caught wind of this and said "You would love Dookie." Bless my innocence at the "Huuhh??!" response. (he later explained that it was an album by Green Day..I had always know who they were, I just never bothered to intentionally listen to anything other than Basket Case and Good Riddance) So my cousin went out and bought any Green Day albums that she could find....Dookie and Nimrod. That Christmas I listened to them both non stop, Chump/Longview and All the Time being the most memorable songs of th holiday...As soon as I heard Longview I was mesmerized. And it's been going downhill ever since
Mar Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 American Idiot (the video) piqued my curiosity, and when the album won the Grammy (over the Killers, whom I adore), I knew I had to listen to the CD. However, seeing them last year really made me obsessed with them.
Moffie Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 My oldest brother would listen to them and I wanted to be like him so I listened too and loved them (still do! ) as I grew up and understood the meanings behind the songs better.
minorityxdisturbed Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 VH1's channel, and it was the best thing that TV could give me.
PasalacquaBomb Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Probably the release of 21st Century Breakdown The funny thing is: I still love 21CB but I love some older albums like Nimrod or Dookie more
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 my brother's best friend had some songs of green day in his mobile phone and when i decide to press the "OK" button to listen to the first one (bobd) i automatically felt in love... so i'm grateful to him for ever
sassafrasroots_ Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 My dad's friend lends him CD's a lot to check out and about 10-12 years ago he got given some green day albums & he played them in his car when he picked me up from my dancing lesson and i've listened to them ever since more so in the last 8 or so years
AnnA™ Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 It wasn't really anyone, except for Green Day themselves I guess... I was sitting around doing nothing, Boulevard of Broken Dreams came on the radio. It immediately caught my attention and I had to turn up the volume. I had no idea who they were or anything, but in that moment I feel in love with the song. And from then on I couldn't get enough of Green Day.
Alan86 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I remember seeing music videos for Redundant and hitchin a ride when nimrod was out and i used watch them when the came on, it wasn't till warning came out though that i bought a Green Day album. Cant get enough ever since.
Izzard Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 People who were older than me always listened to them, I just grew up with them.
PoliceBoyLogan Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I remember the Paper Lanterns mud fight, and from that day forth I loved every single thing they've ever done.
ANJI Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 One morning before i was leaving home for school, I was just flicking through the music channels. Then I heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams...i just loved the chorus and i listened to their other music and loved it. I actually first saw the American Idiot music video and i hated them..dunno why I never knew Green Day existed before AI...but i love them a lot now
Metanoia Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 to be honest the radio and it playing bobd in 2006 but no one told me too get into them so i kinda made it myself
