Trotsky Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I joined my friend's cover band to sing for them, all the way back in middle school. Yes, 13 years old and singing about masturbation not being fun anymore...
Hammerlock Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I heard Longview on the radio back in really early 1995, and i really liked it so my parents bought me a copy of Dookie.
Little_Miss_15_65 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I'll admit it. I'm a new Green Day fan.I heard "American Idiot" on the radio, and fell in love with it. Bought the album, and many more since then. Haven't looked back since...
Letterbomb.NobodyLikesYou Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 My best friend's brother. I'm sitting there talking to him and he asked me if I wanted to hear a Green Day song and I'm like "yeah, sure, i dont really give a shit" so he puts Basketcase on and I'm like "woah, this shits fucking awesome" and all that. So I went out and bought American Idiot and Dookie.
Holiday Girl Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 my ex - boyfriend really liked green day and he got me into them
CarnageXB Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 umm back in the early 90s i was a rebelious neurotic kid and i found green day to be interesting and they spoke the truth about teens like me were going through and i just think thats great.i loved them ever since so ill always support them even if there going down hill.
Bloody Mascara Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 My stepmum used to listen to a lot of music. Basically bands that I listen to now. So I guess she got me into Green Day when I was about 8 but I didn't listen to them a lot until I got into 7th grade :/
julespunk04 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Well there's more to this but it doesn't really need to be said so anyways here goes..I was just after breaking up with my first boyfriend and stuff and I was really confused. I sounds stupid but I didn't know who I was, who i wanted to be. I just felt like I was just trying to be everything that everybody else wanted me to be but I didn't fit in there..and I didn't like it. Anyways one day I turned on the TV and JOS was on. I thought it was a pretty cool video and I liked the song..the parts that I could understand I couldn't hear some of the lyrics so I went and printed them off. Next time it came on I sat in front of the TV (yeah I'm a nerd) and sang along and I really liked it. Then American Idiot came on and I thought it was the best thing! The video before had scared me (I always tuned into the part where the green stuff was coming down and them and the strobe lights were flashing and I thought it was odd..once again I'm odd) but I thought the song really meant something. Then I got into Holiday and BOVD (before the radio whored it out) and I thought it as really great music. It wasn't until I heard Minority that things changed for me. It just said everything that I needed to hear. Don't be like anybody else, be yourself..and if other people don't like it well then fuck em. It changed me.. So then I got their CD's and I'm still a bit obsessed but not teenie obsessed. So I got myself into them..yay! Haha
outsider Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 um... I just heard them and fell in love and all that. Boring? Yeah, I know
my GREEN pen Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 God, how the hell should I know. But all I know is that that lead me to MCR which lead to Blink 182 which lead to the offspring, which lead to Marilyn Manson, which lead to Rob Zombie, which lead to P!nk, which then lead to The Fray. Yeys, my natives gone big...... Then that lead to Single File, lead to 30 seconds to mars, which lead to Foo Fighters, and finally landed on Jimmy Eat World. Holy fuck, I probably just wasted a good portion of your time.
39 smooth Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 i first heard my older brother listening to Minority and i loved it!! but he didnt tell me who they are called cuz he's annoying so i had to keep nicking International Superhits from him lol but when it came to xmas time that year, he found out!! cuz he was gonna give it to me for my xmas pressie!!! so he had a go at me, and walk out of my room with it!!!! and he wasnt gonna give it back!!! but luckily, i waited for him to cum out of his room so that i cud take it again so i did and , of course, hid it this time ...its been in my room for quite a while now, he must have forgotten about it
Ms. Whirly Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I can't tell you how many times ive answered this question but here it goes again:When i was a kid i would here Good Riddance or Minority and loved them without knowing who the hell sang them. Then come American Idiot and of curse I liked the American Idiot singlre and BOBD so i wanted to borrow my friend's cd just to get those songs, but he made me listen to Holiday, St. Jimmy and She's a Rebel and I was hooked. I bought AI and soon after the obsession was complete when I gound GDA.
CaptainKuro Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 blink 182. i got their album for christmas, and thought it was cool. so at school, i asked my friends if they liked blink, but no one did. a boy in my year said if i like blink to try green day. so i bought one of their albums, and thought, whoah way better!! my opinion anyway!!
Miqui_Dee Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 my best friend jimmy. she saved my life. but now she doesn't like green day anymore...
Aly Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 At my beautiful friend River's birthday party he got the American Idiot cd and then I bought it to see how it sounded now im obsessed with them
HMMbands Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Some of the bands i listen to have said in the past that Green Day is one of their favorite bands and that they liked them when they were younger. At that time, i hadn't heard any of their stuff before. Then one day, i happened to see a video of theirs and i was like "oh, so thats who Green Day is". I think the video was Longview. Then i saw some of their other videos and bought International Superhits. Then all the rest of their albums. Thats basically it. Pretty boring really. None of my friends really listen to the same music as me.
Adeline Rebel Armstrong Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Dookie came out when I was about 1 and my brother liked Green Day and he bought a copy of Dookie. He'd listen to it and I could hear it but the only song I heard was When I Come Around and then Insomnic came out the only song I remember was Brain Stew a couple years later I heard both of the songs on the radio in my dads car and I sang them and my dad asked how do you know those songs and I said J.T.Oops kind of off topic there.
JJ182 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 My cousin used to live with my family, and he was a green day fan.one day, when i was younger, i was going through his old cd's and i found insomniac.i listened to it, and i immedately fell in love with it.....thats what got me inot green day
everdays Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I think Welcome to Paradise got me hooked. Still one of my favorite GD songs! I have a similar story to some others on here.... I liked Green Day, but kind of forgot about them. Then AI came out, with all the publicity and everything, so I bought AI, and liked it. It pretty much just reminded me how much I liked their older stuff. I already had all of their older CDs, so I gave them all a listen again, and I was hooked again!Plus, I really admired how they were speaking politically in a time where it seemed no one else was anti war.But GD definitely led me to MCR, who I surprisingly like.
Somnus Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 My friend made me, because she is obsessed by Green Day, and she wanted to get me obsessed too. I still hate them... But this forum is entertaining.
