What/Who got you into Green Day?

I heard american idiot and BOBD at the radio but I began to like green Day when I listen to holiday. then I began a fan when I dowload the whole american idiot album.

My sister i.snort.donut.sprinkle got me into green day. i have a green day purse and a shirt but my sis is a much bigger fan then i am.

My aunt, I basically lived with her when I was younger and she is a HUGE Green Day fan, she would listen to them all of the time, so I kinda grew up with them, I went to my first concert when I was 9 years old (that was in 1998) and the first album that I ever owned myself was Nimrod. My aunt was a fan from before Dookie, she saw them play a gig and really got into them and she didn't stop once they made it big, so yeah... I have my aunt to thank!!

At the time that I first got a myspace I only had the AI cd (April 1st, 2005)

and I wanted to put a GD music vid on my page and so I picked Waiting because the song seemed so familiar to me. I think I knew that song subliminally, because I dont ever remember seeing the video or hearing the song when I was younger. but I must have subliminally lol

That's some story. Very nice of someone to actually take the time to write a story like this. You see a lot of one-sentence-posts around here. Shame that I'm one of the very few who actually takes the time to read a long post like this.

I read about Green Day in some magazin when I was about 10. I had no idea who they were. So later, when American Idiot came out, I saw the AI video on MTV and thought' Ah! So that's Green Day!'. I was going to buy the album, but my friend was so kind to buy me a copy in Thailand. I then went through a GD-crazy-phase. It has now settled down a bit.

my dad was a real punk fan when he was in high school. he even had his own band called the kangaroo testicles, and they didn't suck! (i was surprised too). he listened to dookie a lot right around when i was born, and continued too until i was 6, and my parents got divorced. i knew i loved green day, but i was 6, so i soon forgot. when i was in the 8th grade, not too long ago, my best friend was a die hard green day fan. all my old love soon found it's way back! i had forgotten, but i never will again.

I don't really remember.. I just liked them. I remember hearing 'Basket Case' and 'When I Come Around' and various other ones as a kid, but I wasn't really mad into music until about 2003.. therefore my first Green Day CD WAS 'American Idiot', but I did know of them beforehand..

And like previous poster (or whoever they quoted), I also went through an insane Green Day phase, but it's long since cooled down. Still adore them though

well one day I saw the video for American Idiot and I though it was

really cool. Then a few days later I saw the video for BOBD and

also though it was awesome. So then I got American Idiot and

after listening to the whole album I fell in love with their music.

I decided to buy their older cd's. I got International superhits, then dookie, then insomniac, then my sister boutght me Nimrod, then I bought Shenanigans, and the last one was Warning.

when i was 9, i stole my brother's kerplunk cd and i loved it, and when he found out, he told that they had other albums too, so i bought them and i've loved Green Day ever since.

i went to a green day concert cuz my friend wanted me to go. she ended up not liking them as much. i loved the energy they had on stage...so id say green day got me into green day, but if u want to get all technical about it it was my friend

My mom listened to them and we danced to their musc when i was 8 and up.

So when i was like 10 i got into them like listened to them and knew the words.

After that i was just addicted =]

I was just a dumb three year old, when my mom discovered putting in Dookie made me happy and I would stop crying if I was upset. I guess I just grew up with Green Day, so I'll always remain a loyal fan.

Hehe...fun story.

In the hot summer of 2005, I met my true love. It was at my best friend's house and we were bored, so we got on the computer and started watching music videos on Yahoo. My friend says "Ever heard of Green Day?" "Uh...no.." I replied. So she plays the video for Redundant. Since that fateful day...I love you's not enough, I'm lost for words.
