Carina Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 basket case playing on the radio some years ago
The Nobody Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 The radio and my cousin. The radio played When I Come Around, and I really liked it, so I started to listen to the radio more often to see if they would play some more songs. That was around the time American Idiot came out. The my cousin presented me to GDA, and discovered this forum, and I've gotten more into them because of it.
NiMrOd_001 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 My sister...i think...she's the one that showed me the AI video when it came out.She doesnt like GD though.
rebel004 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 my brother. he used to lkie green day but now he doesn't at all.
Haushinka797979 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 My dad... he's into all that punk music and when AI came out, I loved it and bought all their other CDs.

BlindedByTheSilence Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 minority on the radio when i was in first or second grade

Mattplunk Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 My friend Nick got me into Green Day and now I'm a bigger fan than him.
Youvegotcigarettesonyourbreath Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 myselfwell i guess the radio
INTERNATIONALxSUPERHIT Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I got myself into Green Day. Awhile ago I was going thru my Dad's cds he was gonna sell & I found Dookie & randomly decided to listen to it. I was instantly hooked and later found nimrod too. Then like a year later I bought AI.
marchelo Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 When Dookie came out I was only 6 (well I was born in april, so I was actually 5 xD) so I couldn't know about the phenomena. It was with American Idiot. The story starts in march 2005 in Athens, where I was in a travel with the class in the high school. It was our free afternoon and a few of us were in a shop, the radio was on and it was playing a song, I liked it and I asked a friend: -hey, what's this? - Green Day. I thought it was good but I forget about it 'til the next month, when, int he school, most of my friends were talking about a concert a band called Green Day was going to do the next June 27 in Barcelona. I thought... Green Day, Green Day, I know them but from what... mmmmmm... the next days lots of people were talking about the tickets, the day, the place and theese kind of things... It was not a long time since I started to use the eMule so I felt courious (is it correct ?) and I thought: let's see what the hell is Green Day. I started to download all what appeared in the searching results and the first songs I downloaded were American Idiot and Welcome To Paradise (Dookie version). I really loved American Idiot, more than Welcome To Paradise (one of my favourite songs now). Then I listened to Basket Case, She, Holiday, Wake Me Up When September Ends... and that song in the Athens shop! I don't remember wich was it, but then I knew from what I knew Green Day. I loved Green Day, it became my favourite band, I loved Dookie much more than American Idiot and then I started to became a true Green Day fan. Of course I went to that concert and was brilliant instead of the horrible suffocating heat in the pavilion. Nowadays, none of those friends knows more than me about Green Day, none of them knows more lyrics, songs or whatever than me. I bought American Idiot the day after the concert, instead of I already had all their songs (except St. Jimmy and She's A Rebel...), and as soon as I could, the money thing xD, I bought the other CD's. Now I have 1.039... Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, American Idiot, all the CD singles except American Idiot and Bullet In A Bible. As soon as I can I'll buy the rest. There is something I want to add: lots of people say that GD are comercial. I don't think so, I thing American Idiot is a brilliant CD and that's all, it's normal that people loves it and they earn lots of money, the real danger of becoming commerciall is in their next CD, I think, It will probably decide if Green Day are a myth or not. If they can make two consecutive great albums, they'll be one of the greatest bands of the history.Sorry for the extension of the story :whistling:
nothing234 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Friends, but mostly my brother Jimmy. yeah that's it. and if you count myself, that makes three.
Asshole3 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 wen i wuz like 10 i listened to 96.5 all the time and they played holiday and blvd. of broken dreams and i didn't no who sang them until i found out it wuz green day and i wuz tlly hooked on
Popdisaster Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 my mumYou have a cool mum. When Dookie came out I was only 6 (well I was born in april, so I was actually 5 xD) so I couldn't know about the phenomena. Very nice of someone to actually take the time to write a story like this. You see a lot of one-sentence-posts around here. Shame that I'm one of the very few who actually takes the time to read a long post like this.I read about Green Day in some magazin when I was about 10. I had no idea who they were. So later, when American Idiot came out, I saw the AI video on MTV and thought' Ah! So that's Green Day!'. I was going to buy the album, but my friend was so kind to buy me a copy in Thailand. I then went through a GD-crazy-phase. It has now settled down a bit.
WalkingContradiction118 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 We were in computer class and we had like 20 minutes of free time, so one of the girls went to this website where you can listen to the newest songs on the radio. She played BOBD, and I yelled "Oh! I love that song! Who sings it?!" So when I got home I downloaded American Idiot, then eventually bought all the CDs. Since then I've been obsessed.
Carissa Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Surprisingly enough, my dad! he was listening to the radio and Blvd. of Broken Dreams came on. He really liked the song and asked if I liked Green Day and one thing led to another....and look at me now!
marchelo Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Sure, the most of us are new GD fans, from American Idiot, but not all of us get interested in listening something more... Green Day is not, and American idiot is not, BVBD and Wake Me Up When September Ends...I hate people who says "I like GD" in this case, and saying Ooooh... I love Billie Joe and Adrienne is a bitch. U fickin' stupid girls... booooooooriiiiinggg... and don't U see how ugly are all the members of the Band??? Mike and Tre the most xDAnd Thanks to Popdisaster for taking the time...
shir1212 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 A friend of mine bought American Idiot and she said I must listen to the cd.At first I hated it but I slowly began to love it. I bought American Idiot and started looking for older songs in the internet and.. I fell in love!!!!
